Over recent days there has been community disorder and unrest across some towns and cities in the UK, which is distressing to see. Derby has been unaffected but we will continue to engage our community partners to do all we can to ensure that this city and region celebrates community diversity and inclusion.

The University of Derby and Derby City Council have collaborated on an innovative community engagement project designed to engage young people and those from marginalised groups in art and research.

The University of Derby has been ranked 13th in the Stonewall Top 100 Employers list, an increase of 84 places since first joining the Top 100 in 2023, and has been re-awarded Gold for LGBTQ+ inclusion.

Professional footballer Millie Bright who captained England to the Women’s World Cup Final in 2023 is among those to receive an honorary degree from the University of Derby later this month.

The first University of Derby Civic Awards, aimed at recognising and celebrating the significant positive impact that individuals and organisations have made in the community, was held on Thursday, 4 July.
