EssexLive readers have voted for a popular city as the best place to live in the county. After weeks of nominations and voting we can finally reveal that Chelmsford is the readers' choice.

Despite travel blog Muddy Stilettos naming Wivenhoe in the East of England as the best place to live, our readers disagree. While Wivenhoe is a beautiful town on the banks of the River Colne it did not make our shortlist.

But we think the readers have made a great choice in picking Chelmsford as the best place to live. We can definitely see why - sitting in the heart of Essex, Chelmsford is easily accessible right across the county.

It also boasts lots of open and green space including the popular Central Park and Chelmer Parks. It's also home to some beautiful places including RHS Garden Hyde Hall andHylands Gardens & Parkland.

Although we are bias, here at EssexLive we think we are lucky to live in such a wonderful county with so many amazing towns, villages and cities - and lets not forget all the beaches!

There have been some fabulous nominations for the best place to live and it's been great hearing all our readers' nominations. And while there can only be one winner, it's worth giving a special mention to the areas that made the shortlist.
