There are major delays on the M25 this morning following an earlier incident on the QEII bridge. Essex Police were called to the Dartford Crossing this morning (May 17) following concerns for the welfare of a person.

The incident took place at 5.20am and police shut off the bridge while they attended the scene. The closure lasted for around an hour before reopening at 6.30am. There is still heavy traffic in the area on approach to the bridge and delays for motorists.

A spokesman for Essex Police said earlier: "We are currently on scene of an incident on the Dartford Crossing. We had been called to concerns for someone on the bridge shortly before 5.20am today (Friday 17 May) and have responded.
