European elections: provisional results
The European elections took place from 6 to 9 June. Provisional results are published on the European elections website and are being regularly updated until the constitutive session of Parliament’s tenth legislative term, which will take place on 16-19 July in Strasbourg.
On the elections website, you will also find national results, seats by political group and country, a breakdown of national parties and political groups, and data on turnout. You will also be able to compare results, check majorities, and create your own widget.
Political groups: constitutive meetings continue
Political groups will continue to hold their constitutive meetings. The tentative timetable is as follows (in chronological order):
S&D: 25 June
The Left: 25 June
Renew: 26 June
ECR: 26 June
ID: 3 July.
The EPP and the Greens/EFA groups held their constitutive meetings on 18 and 19 June.
Rule 33 of Parliament’s rules of procedure stipulates that a political group must be made up of at least 23 MEPs elected in at least seven member states. In order for a group to be set up, the EP President has to be notified of the name of the group, its members, bureau members, its political declaration setting out its values, the main political objectives, and describing the common political orientation of the group.
European Council
EP President Roberta Metsola will address EU heads of state or government at the 27-28 June European Council, which is expected to continue discussions on the next institutional cycle, including the appointments to the EU's top jobs. Russia’s war against Ukraine, the latest developments in the Middle East, security and defence issues, competitiveness, and enlargement will also be on the summit agenda. President Metsola will host a press conference after her address (Thursday).
