Stunning return to form by Boston’s top rockers

It’s been more than 30 years since Extreme’s second album, Pornograffiti, hit the shelves and established the band as rivals to Van Halen for the top rockers slot. It also saw Nuno Bettencourt’s rise to guitar-superhero status via some of the early 90s’ most breathtaking guitar playing. And, of course, the public at large soon became entranced by the mega-hit from the album, More Than Words, guaranteeing the band arena status.

The follow-up album,, seemed to seal the deal: proved to be the soundtrack to a band falling apart, with a truly terrible mix and lacklustre songs. Sure enough, the band broke up, and the various members went off to engage in solo projects with Nuno turning up at one point as Rihanna’s touring guitarist.
