Chilean voters reject conservative constitution threatening women and workers' rights

Chilean voters on Sunday rejected a proposed new constitution drafted by a conservative-led committee, election officials said, meaning the charter imposed during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet will remain in force. The rejected second draft, which was particularly restrictive of women's and workers' rights, would render abortion illegal in a country where access is already limited and speed up expulsion measures for migrant workers.
