Qatar Airways carried its first regular flight from Doha to Tashkent on 2 June. Airbus A320 airplane landed in the capital of Uzbekistan at 13:30 and was welcomed with water salute.

“One of the best airlines in the world has launched regular flights to Tashkent airport. The air link between the two countries is not simply a flight from point A to point B, but an important part of the development of relations between the two countries,” said Javlonbek Umarkhodjaev, head of Uzbekistan Airports.

He added that one of the anticipated outcomes of the collaboration is “importing the level of service at Hamad Airport in Doha and that of Qatar Airways to Tashkent airport.”

Marwan Koleilat, Qatar Airways' senior vice president for East Asia & South West Pacific, said that flights on Doha-Tashkent-Doha route will be operated four times a week: on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The flight time is 3 hours.

In the future, the flight frequency to Tashkent may be increased, and launching flights may be launched from Doha to Bukhara and Samarkand, he noted.

Tashkent has become the second city in Central Asia after Almaty where the Qatari airline flies.

Qatar Airways is the national airline of Qatar headquartered in Doha. The airline operates flights to over 170 destinations worldwide. The company has received numerous awards and for seven times been designated as the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax.
