I am impressed by all the places this one went as Walt tried to figure out what was going on and who exactly was the bad guy. Nature and it’s unpredictable ways also plaid a big role in this story. Big government and cover ups, wealthy people vs the have-nots, and borderline crazy people committing terrorist acts all made this a heart pounding ride. Thoroughly enjoyed this story. ...more

They play it at my nail salon often. It makes me cry every time. This is such a difficult topic and I thought Jojo Moyes handled it quite well. She made it possible to understand both sides without judging either. I love how Louisa is so changed by Will as she tried to change his mind. The movie does a pretty good job of following the story. I think most of us truly don’t know what we would do in this situation that Will found himself in. I appreciate the author for letting us understand better and feel much of the emotion that both the paralyzed person and their friends and families go through. Looking forward to spending more time with Lou. ...more

Listening to her tell her story in this audiobook was well worth my time. Whether you don’t know much about her or you already love her to pieces, this is well worth a listen. She has such a positive outlook on life and such a bubbly personality that I think we can all learn something from her. I don’t think Dolly has ever met a person she didn’t enjoy knowing. I have a smile on my face after listening to Dolly tell her story. That’s worth plenty these days. ...more

This prequel gave a lot of backstory of characters from The Romanov Legacy while still having a story all its own. I still can’t decide if Natalie is mentally ill or if there are supernatural things at work. I’m inclined to believe the latter. There is so much to like about this series: great characters, lots of action, a leading lady with some serious problems, history, and good vs evil where the lines are often blurred. A big thank you to the author who gave me a copy of this book because I couldn’t find it available anywhere and I really wanted to read it. I am definitely a fan!...more

I had figured out part of it long before the end but was still surprised at the finale when all was revealed. The lead detective having Asperger’s makes him a unique character with flaws that can make those around him uneasy and irritated but these same qualities make him a great detective. He is focused and unflappable. He is also unable to understand social niceties. But with the help of his partner and his Dad, he is trying. Will definitely continue the series. ...more

Honestly, the beginning dialogue annoyed the crap out of me. It was like Eduardo was not a real person but just someone to whisper constant sweet nothings in Nikki’s ear. Their relationship was too fast and I find it weird. However, when it gets to the action this book became very exciting and I was invested. So I can live with the 4 stars. ☺️...more

Tanner needed a mentor to inspire her to grow up and live a little. Louise needed a little help after breaking a hip. Every time I thought I knew….well I was wrong, but then I was right. I had to keep checking that this was a true story. I don’t often like non-fiction because I am looking for entertainment when I read. Not to say that non-fiction can’t be entertaining but it is often a bit more dry. This just read like a great story. Erika is an interesting lead with many flaws. There aren’t too many books that would appeal as much to me in my younger years as well as to my age now. But this trilogy definitely fits the criteria. I love this writing duo but this one didn’t quite hit me as amazing like their Pendergast series usually does. I didn’t love the narrator of the audiobook and that may have contributed. She made Nora sound so bitchy. I am excited about the possibility of Corrie and Nora teaming up again. And the archaeology slant is always interesting. The Donner party horror is something most of us just can’t imagine. I always wonder that if I managed to survive a situation by resorting to cannibalism would I be able to live with myself and move on? I honestly don’t know the answer to that. I would surely want to change my name and move far away. It was interesting to learn more details about what happened to the Donner party but it is all so very sad. Well worth reading and the slightly less than positive review sure wont stop me from picking up the next in the series. ...more

The cast is broken, a bit demented, and also strong and driven. The Shepherd Organization goes after the really, really bad guys and they will take them out one way or the other. So many twists and turns along with some really nasty people. One of those bad people is kind of on the right side in this and it’s hard not to like him a little. I don’t know what that says about me exactly but I dare you not to feel the same way if you immerse yourself in this series. I had a hard time finding some of these books in English.
