Movies for the Book of Sodom Vol. IV: violent, disturbing, shocking and perverse cinema and TV
After reading "The 120 Days of Sodom" by Marquis de Sade, I wondered what movies and series would the characters enjoy if they lived in our times.
As a result, I've made this collection of the sickest, most brutal, violent, bizarre, sadistic, depraved, perverted, sleazy, disturbing and disgusting movies I have ever seen, thinking these would be great substitutes for the book's stories. The list includes horror, action, crime, thrillers and even comedies on some occasions.
There is only one condition for a movie to be on this list: it must be fiction. I've excluded shockumentaries and mondo films because the reality is always more shocking than fiction. Still, "Faces of Death" is allowed because it is mostly fake.
On this list, I allowed various PG-13 movies. Although some of them can contain some disturbing images, others definitely do not include such content. However, they are quite violent and brutal. Especially in recent years, many movies present some dark and violent ideas, but they do it in a mostly non-gory way. Thus, if a movie has a darker subject, but most of the gore happens off-screen, it might find its place on the list. Also, some movies contain copious amounts of violence but given it does not happen to the human characters, they still receive a PG-13 rating (like the Transformers franchise or Alita Battle Angel).
