"The Golden Girls" is basically the perfect sitcom, following the antics of four mature women who share a house in Miami, Florida. The series began in September 1985 and ran for seven seasons before ending in May 1992, and it's only grown in popularity since it first aired. It's a blast to tune in to see what the hilariously horny Blanche (Rue McClanahan), bubbly airhead Rose (Betty White), sarcastic divorcee Dorothy (Bea Arthur), and her smart-mouthed mother Sophia (Estelle Getty) get up to in each episode, and it's pretty easy to hit play on one and end up watching an entire season before you know it. It's really no surprise that the series has found new fans in the streaming era, so when there were rumors of a Disney+ reboot of the series sometime in 2024, people went bonkers.

Peacock’s crime drama “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” made its streaming premiere on September 5, 2024. The star-studded cast including Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Don Cheadle, and Samuel L. Jackson was enough to attract early buzz, but what are critics saying now that six episodes have aired, with the final two slated for October 3 and October 10? And how could positive reviews impact its chances at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards?
In a city bursting with fight night anticipation, streetwise hustler Gordon “Chicken Man” Williams (Hart) plants himself at the center of the action. His big ambitions, and even bigger talk, put him on a collision course with ruthless criminals, each consumed by their own insatiable hunger for the spoils of the event. As dawn breaks on a city reeling from the heist, Jd Hudson (Cheadle), a pioneering Black detective, is thrust into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse as the body count rises.

Considering how much of a grand backdrop casinos can provide in a movie, it’s fair to say that they haven’t featured in movies as often as some people might think. Even when we collated our top five films today, there’s not a huge range to choose from. Sure, movies might feature an odd scene or two in a casino, but the number of films that actually revolve around the inner workings of a casino or have multiple scenes set in and around them is minimal.
There are still some great films to choose from, though, and if the glitz and glamour of a casino is right up your street, then we’ve tried to handpick the films that we think will most appeal to you. We appreciate that casino gaming has changed since many of these classics first hit the big screen. Gone are the days of...

While promoting his new Atlanta-based show, Samuel L. Jackson is supporting the Falcons on their home turf.
The honorary Oscar winner appears in a cinematic opening sequence this weekend for Sunday Night Football, airing 7pm Et on NBC on Peacock, as the home team faces off against defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs.
“The challenges come at you fast and they come at you furious… never more so when their names are Kelce and Mahomes,” he says in the opening.
Jackson continues, “It’s about fighting with everything you’ve got to survive… and taking advantage of nights that can get everyone talking about you differently… nights like this where you play hard, hit hard, and rise up!”
During the segment, Jackson also recalls selling concessions at the Falcons’ former Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium home in the ’60s. He studied dramatic arts at Atlanta’s Morehouse College before breaking out as an actor.

Here at JoBlo, we love physical media – Especially 4K discs. To a lot of us, the 4K revolution has really given some of our favourite movies new life, with the format allowing us to see pristine versions of classic films that come the closest to presenting them in a way that allows us to experience them the way first run audiences did when they came out. While DVD and Blu-ray were both great for their time, 4K is miraculous, with movies like The Crow looking better in this format than they have since their original theatrical runs. One of the reasons is that the people doing the 4K restorations usually go back to a movie’s negative to make it look as good as it can, and the people restoring these films are passionate (even if some efforts have been controversial).
Yet, some of our favorite movies still aren’t available in 4K.

Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt are easily two of the biggest names in Hollywood. They are, in fact, the personification of the word. You cannot possibly think of Tinseltown and not talk about the two most important residents in it. It is a damn shame that they haven’t starred alongside each other since 1994’s classic, Interview with the Vampire, owing to the reported feud between them.

Fans and media have been speculating about the animosity between Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt since time immemorial. According to the Troy actor, the two of them are like the North Pole and the South Pole. Insiders have also talked about their feud time and again, but it looks like Tom Cruise might not really feel too ill towards his former co-star.

George Clooney has a taunting offer for former President Donald Trump.
After the Wolfs star wrote a headline-making op-ed in July calling for President Joe Biden to drop his 2024 re-election bid, something Biden later did, Trump criticized Clooney in a post on his Truth Social network, saying in part that “fake movie actor” Clooney should “get out of politics and go back to television.”
On Tuesday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Clooney responded to Trump’s suggestion.
“I will if he does,” Clooney said. “That’s a trade-off I’d do.”
Kimmel even suggested that Clooney write another essay urging Trump, the current Republican presidential nominee, to drop his bid, since it “worked once. Why not try it again?”
Clooney also poked fun at Trump later when Kimmel pointed out how he often works with his friends on films, like Wolfs, which he stars in with longtime pal and fellow A-lister Brad Pitt.

Marvel once recruited actor Rebecca Hall for Robert Downey Jr.’s last Iron Man solo film. Since Iron Man 3 was very much unlike Hall’s usual work, doing the feature required a bit of a learning curve. Especially when it came to working with her co-star Downey.

Iron Man 3 stood out from Hall’s usual work. The Night House star might’ve been known for more dramatic, grounded features that were smaller in scale. Up until doing the Marvel blockbuster, Hall’s most popular films might’ve been Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige and Ben Affleck’s The Town. In a 2013 interview with The Los Angeles Times (via Daily Actor), even Hall herself acknowledged that Iron Man was a huge shift in her filmography.

The image of Robert Downey Jr. unveiling himself as Doctor Doom at San Diego Comic-Con has become one of the most famous Marvel images of all-time. The announcement took everyone by surprise, not least of all Downey Jr.'s former co-stars, many of whom were not informed about the crazy turn of events beforehand.
Of course, Robert Downey Jr. is best known for his iconic portrayal of Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Near the end of the second episode of Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist’s three-episode debut, one of New York City’s fiercest and deadliest gangsters, Frank Moten, played by Samuel L. Jackson, hovers over a petrified small-time Atlanta hustler known as Chicken Man, played by Kevin Hart, after leaving a historic boxing match in that Southern city in 1970.
Moten and his henchmen have taken Gordon “Chicken Man” Williams and a Miami gangster named Harvey (Celestino Cornielle) out to a field in Atlanta, where he quickly executes the Florida crime boss for making insulting comments to him before the unsanctioned boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Jerry Quarry. Chicken Man had made the mistake of trying to run a scam on Moten while he was watching the fight and made a promise he couldn’t deliver on, which resulted in his invitation out to the field for a final destination.

Muhammad Ali called Oct. 26, 1970, his “day of judgment.” His refusal to be inducted to the Army during the Vietnam War, on moral and religious grounds, had pushed him out of the ring for 43 months. Black royalty from Harlem to Birmingham showed up and showed out: Diana Ross, Sidney Poitier, Hank Aaron, and Corretta Scott King filled ringside seats. Filling the stands right alongside them were a bevy of gangsters,...

Comcast and its NBCUniversal streamer Peacock are flying high across the board, Comcast president Mike Cavanagh signaled on Tuesday.
Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference in San Francisco in a session that was live-streamed, he shared that Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, the new limited series starring Kevin Hart, Taraji Henson, Don Cheadle, Samuel L. Jackson, and more, has become a hit within days. “We launched Fight Night on Thursday night with Kevin Hart and an unbelievable cast,” he said. “And that’s the most watched title, original, in the history of Peacock.”
Overall, Peacock continues to evolve, Cavanagh said. “We feel very good about what we’ve done over a few short years, where we were going from a standing start when it became clear that we wouldn’t be staying in Hulu,” he said.
The executive also discussed the recent Paris Summer Olympics, which set an advertising record,...

Anderson .Paak strode into the Variety studio at Toronto Film Festival wearing a radiant smile, and before the cameras started rolling he began spinning a pillow on his finger like a basketball.
“This is a couch potato trick,” he laughed, as his 13-year-old son Soul Rasheed watched in awe.
It’s fitting that .Paak can’t keep his hands still. With a thriving music career (both as a solo artist and as one-half of the four-time Grammy winning duo Silk Sonic), a lucrative alter ego in DJ Pee Wee and a side hustle (if you can call that) as a restaurateur, .Paak is constantly adding items to his resume.
The latest of which is “K-Pops!,” .Paak’s first feature film, which he directed and acts in alongside Rasheed.
“It was kind of tough sometimes for me to turn off the dad and put on the director,” the 38-year-old multi-hyphenate told Variety.

What an incredible tale of perseverance! Unstoppable tells the true story of Anthony Robles, a wrestler born with just one leg who refused to let that hold him back from achieving his dreams. Directed by William Goldenberg and starring Jharrel Jerome as Anthony, this film captures the heart and soul of a young man with an unbreakable spirit.
From a young age, Anthony knew wrestling was his passion. But with only one leg, many doubted he could go very far in such a physically demanding sport. As a teen, he proved the doubters wrong by winning a high school national championship. But college would offer new challenges. Despite his success, the top schools weren’t eager to recruit a wrestler with a visible disability.
That’s where Anthony’s mother, Judy, played brilliantly by Jennifer Lopez, became his rock. Facing struggles of her own at home, she never wavered in her support of her son.

Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist just premiered on Peacock but is this new crime drama worth the watch? Find out!
Based on a podcast, Fight Night tells an incredibly true crime story. In 1970, Muhammad Ali (Dexter Darden) was making his much-hyped return boxing match after being banned for a few years for refusing the Army draft. Atlanta Detective Jd Hudson (Don Cheadle) is assigned to oversee Ali before and after the fight, not liking the guy or how he’s chosen simply for being a black detective.
Meanwhile, with all of Atlanta buzzing on the fight, low-level hoodlum Gordon “Chicken Man” Williams (Kevin Hart), who wants a big payday, hits on the idea of staging a “casino night” party and invites the big players in the city to take part. That includes an invite for Frank Moten (Samuel L. Jackson), “the Godfather of Harlem.” However, a pack of local...

Born with one leg, Anthony Robles literally wrestled his way to glory. He competed in his first wrestling match in the ninth grade and performed dismally the rest of his debut season. In his final year of college eligibility, he had an undefeated record and became a national champion. Robles embodies the kernel of truth at the heart of the most crucial and trite sports cliché: grit and determination will overcome every obstacle on the path to greatness. As David Merrill writes in his 2013 Deadspin profile of Robles, a one-legged man climbed “to the pinnacle of a sport that selects for such anatomical homogeneity that competitors of different weight classes frequently look like Russian nesting dolls of one another.”
By every objective metric, Robles is not only a remarkable anomaly but a profoundly inspirational person. This is the premise of “Unstoppable,” the biographical drama based on Robles’ journey to the NCAA championship title.

Is Brad Pitt’s charm absolutely timeless, or what? But let’s face it, even Hollywood heartthrobs have aspirations beyond the big screen. The actor made a playful remark about Ocean’s 14 that isn’t exactly fresh off the press but still packs a punch. Then came the kicker: he lightheartedly remarked he’d prefer to avoid a financial jam that would force him into making Ocean’s 14. Pitt’s comment wasn’t just a throwaway line; it underscored his preference for pursuing projects he’s passionate about rather than chasing a paycheck.

Inspirational sports dramas usually share key elements — struggle, setbacks, perseverance and hard-fought triumph. Even more effective if the movie centers on a disadvantaged protagonist, either economically or physically, to inject that underdog spirit. Debuting director William Goldenberg has all of that in Unstoppable, the incredible true story of wrestler Anthony Robles, who was born with only one leg but never let that stop him from going after his dream. The special sauce here, however, is the bond of love and support through tough times between Anthony and his mother Judy, stirringly portrayed by Jharrel Jerome and Jennifer Lopez.
Goldenberg is an Oscar-winning editor whose collaborations with lead producer Ben Affleck stretch from Gone Baby Gone through last year’s Air. The Toronto International Film Festival reserves its opening weekend for world premieres — as in, films that did not previously screen at Sundance, Cannes, Venice or Telluride. Unfortunately for the fest, it seems like most of this season’s movies with serious awards prospects opted not to wait. Cases-in-point: two films that debuted in prime slots on Friday night, Unstoppable (5:30 p.m. at Roy Thomson Hall) and We Live in Time (9:30 p.m. at the Princess of Wales Theatre). Both are very engaging and moving, but also have very narrow awards paths moving forward.

A middlebrow triumph-against-the-odds sports crowd-pleaser can be a beautiful thing — that is, if it doesn’t pander and lose itself in clichés, and if it has as much respect for reality as it does for getting an inspirational rise out of you. “Unstoppable,” a wrestling drama based on the life of the college champion Anthony Robles, is an honest and stirring entry in the genre, with genuine commercial potential. It has plenty of familiar tropes, but in its no-frills way it touches a nerve of authenticity. The true story it tells is nothing short of extraordinary, and that may be why the filmmakers didn’t feel the need to overhype it.

Jenny from the Block made her way to the Six for the premiere of “Unstoppable,” a heartfelt sports drama that debuted on Friday at the Toronto Film Festival.
Jennifer Lopez, who stars as a fiercely supportive mother of five, worked on the film with her ex-husband Ben Affleck, whose production company Artists Equity served as producers. Affleck was absent from the festival (he and Lopez filed for divorce in August after less than two years of marriage), but his company co-founder and friend Matt Damon attended the premiere and walked the red carpet.

It has almost gotten to the point where inspiring sports stories become a parody of themselves, so overrun is the genre with every conceivable variation. But with Unstoppable (not to be confused with the 2004 Wesley Snipes movie or the 2010 Denzel Washington one), you really can’t compare it to anything that has come before, either in terms of what the main subject has achieved in athletics or the obstacles he had to overcome at home.

Unstoppable, a sports drama about a college wrestler who dreams of going pro that stars Jharrrel Jerome (Moonlight), Jennifer Lopez, Don Cheadle, and Bobby Cannavale, and was directed by William Goldenberg, stepped into the ring on Friday for its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), earning a two-minute standing ovation.
The movie’s story is based on the life of Anthony Robles who also walked the red carpet. Though born without a right leg and growing up in a volatile household, he never let go of his dream of becoming a wrestler.
Not only did the premiere continue to amp up TIFF’s star wattage after Thursday’s opening night with the likes of Ben Stiller and Demi Moore. It also gave its director and stars to share some insight into behind-the-scenes dynamics.

Don Cheadle said fans show no mercy in dissing the second installment of the “Ocean’s” film franchise, “Ocean’s Twelve,” adding that the entire cast has discussed the criticisms.
