Country music superstar Garth Brooks made the shocking announcement that one part of his career is over. It’s truly the end of an era. Keep reading to find out what’s going on.
Legendary Singer Inducted To Another Hall Of Fame
Garth Brooks has already reached more milestones than most musicians have even dreamed of. He was inducted into the Country Hall Of Fame in 2012, a year after being invited into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2020, the singer received the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. Garth Brooks was among the honorees 2021 Kennedy Center Honors, along with Dick Van Dyke, violinist Midori, Joan Baez, and actress Debbie Allen.
And that’s not even getting to his countless music awards, including winning ACM Entertainer Of The Year seven times! But the “Friends In Love Places” singer is especially touched by the latest honor. He will join the...

Is there anything Maya Rudolph can’t do? It’s a serious question, as the comedy superstar reigns as this year’s Emmy nominations Mvp. Rudolph earned four nominations — a stunning achievement in itself, but made even more impressive because those nods come from three different programs. She’s nominated in comedy lead actress for Apple TV+’s “Loot” (just renewed for a third season), in character voice-over for her role as Connie the Hormone Monstress in Netflix’s animated “Big Mouth,” and in comedy guest actress for her hosting stint on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” (which also got her an original music and lyrics nod for her monologue tune).
It’s quite a year for Emmy overachievers. Several acting stars also landed writing noms, like Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”), Richard Gadd (“Baby Reindeer”) and Donald Glover (“Mr. & Mrs. Smith”). Others nominated thesps are also producers on their nominated best series.

One of Rob Reiner’s greatest filmmaking credits is the classic mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap. But he became the maker of an actual documentary – not a faux one – with Albert Brooks: Defending My Life. This morning (while working on the sequel to Spinal Tap in New Orleans) he learned he’s become an Emmy nominee for the HBO film about his lifelong buddy, Brooks.
“It’s a total surprise,” he said of the Emmy recognition for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special and for his direction of the film. “Especially because I’ve never made a real documentary. The only one I made was a fake one – Spinal Tap. It’s so funny to get recognized in this way.”

Following an abysmal run with disappointing shows and films, Marvel gave us a major banger this year with X-Men ’97. Despite not being set in the primary timeline, the Kevin Feige studio hit it out of the park with this one. With its mature storyline and an eye-pleasing nostalgic 2D animation style, the animated show established itself as one of the best Marvel projects in years.

X-Men storylines have always boasted maturity and have earned praise for symbolizing real-world problems. The quality of X-Men ’97 also proved that the series may be a favorite for the upcoming Emmys. However, from the fans’ discussion on X, it looks like two other shows, Fallout and Shōgun have the upper hand over the animated Marvel show.

It was a dance so moving, that it captured the hearts of Emmy voters: a waltz that paid tribute to the late Len Goodman during week five of last season’s Dancing with the Stars just earned a nomination in the Outstanding Choregraphy category.
Valentin Chmerkovskiy and his pro/wife Jenna Johnson choreographed the waltz to “Moon River.” It featured performances by current pros and past faves Kym Johnson, Anna Trebunskaya, Karina Smirnoff, Edyta Sliwinska, Tony Dovolani, Louis van Amstel, Maks Chmerkovskiy and Mark Ballas.
Other nominees in the category are Alison Faulk for the “Step In Time” routine for Dick Van Dyke, 98 Years Of Magic; Mandy Moore for the “I’m Just Ken” routine for the Oscars; Jamal Sims for the Queen of Wind/Power routine on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Karla Puno Garcia for the opening number and lifetime achievement numbers for the 76th Annual Tony Awards.

It's been 60 years since Disney's classic musical "Mary Poppins" premiered in theaters.
The beloved musical film, produced by Walt Disney, was released in 1964 and is based on the "Mary Poppins" book series by P.L. Travers. The film stars the one and only Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins, the prim and proper nanny of The Banks Family, and Dick Van Dyke as Bert, the cheerful chimney sweep.
Six decades later, Dick Van Dyke is opening up about how "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" it was working with Julie Andrews on the 1964 Disney film.

Dick Van Dyke weighed in on whom he’ll be supporting in the upcoming election on a recent episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast.
“I’m going to support [Joe] Biden,” the 98-year-old actor, who publicly supported Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential bid four years ago, told THR‘s Scott Feinberg about the November election.
When asked if he felt if it was fair to criticize President Biden for his age, Van Dyke made it clear he wasn’t so concerned about that. “I’ve got all my marbles, and I’m old enough to be his father,” the iconic actor said. “I’m actually old enough in years to be his father. So I’m not worried about it.”
Van Dyke did, however, express some concern about Biden’s performance in the upcoming presidential debate, noting that he feels the president has “difficulty debating.”

Dick Van Dyke, our guest on this episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, is a truly legendary screen actor. An Emmy, Grammy and Tony winner who was a 1995 inductee into the Television Hall of Fame, a 2012 recipient of the SAG life achievement award and a 2021 honoree at the Kennedy Center Honors, he has been described by the New York Times as a “one-man bundle of talents,” by the Los Angeles Times as “among the most likable stars ever,” and by Carl Reiner as the “most talented human being ever put on earth.”
Van Dyke, of course, was the namesake and star of one of the most acclaimed, influential and beloved TV series of all time, The Dick Van Dyke Show, which ran on CBS from 1961 to 1966, and also starred in numerous classic family films, most notably 1964’s Mary Poppins, but also 1963’s Bye Bye Birdie, 1968’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,...

It was a surprise to many of her admiring fans that the legendary Carol Burnett was not already immortalized with her handprints in the iconic Hollywood cement. That fact finally changed on Thursday as she was surrounded by friends, co-stars and family at a brief ceremony outside of the Tcl Chinese Theater.
Before cementing herself for decades of tourists to visit, she said, “I grew up just a few blocks from here, Yucca and Wilcox. It was a block north of Hollywood Boulevard. And when I was a little girl, I can’t begin to count the times my grandmother and I would walk up her to Grauman’s Chinese Theater. Betty Grable was one of my favorites, and I remember bending down and putting my hands on her handprints, never dreaming that someday I’d be putting my hands here 80 years later.”

What’s your opinion on the adage about not working with animals and children, considering you’ve worked with Crystal the capuchin monkey several times? fandango87
I’ve worked with Crystal on a dozen projects – The Hangover, the TV show Community and another movie, The Zookeeper. She is just a miracle. For example, in The Hangover, [director] Todd Phillips would give a direction or a note and it would probably take me three or four takes. Crystal could literally do it on the spot. I was upstaged by a monkey, and now I’m at peace with that.

For years, daytime dramas have been disappearing similar to the dinosaurs of the past. However, it seems that Soaps could be making a comeback if this year’s Emmy awards are any indication. Presently, there are only four classic soaps remaining, however, signs show that soaps are on the upswing.
The Daytime Emmys – Dick Van Dyke’s Emmy Win
Dick Van Dyke became the oldest person to win a Daytime Emmy at last week’s Emmy awards. Of course, Van Dyke played John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) long lost father.
Van Dyke blended right in with the family and certainly enjoyed his guest spot on the show. After all, who wins an Emmy at his age?
While walking though the lobby of the Westin Bonaventure in L.A. Van Dyke came though followed by a huge entourage.
However, everyone was surprised to see Finola Hughes came running up and telling...

Dick Van Dyke’s run in Hollywood has been nothing short of iconic. With a career spanning over seven decades, the actor has been the recipient of four Primetime Emmy wins and has now made history following his second Daytime Emmy win, thanks to his stint in Days of Our Lives.
But unlike his stint in the entertainment industry, the actor’s personal life hasn’t been exactly smooth sailing, especially during his first marriage with Margie Willett. Van Dyke, who went on to cheat on his wife of 36 years with his agent’s secretary, revealed that the affair took a heavy toll on him, stressing he was ridden with guilt.

At age 98, the win made Dick the oldest winner in Daytime Emmy history as well as earned him a standing ovation as he took the stage.
It was not a surprise at all when Dick’s name was called as the winner for his Guest Performance in a Drama Series.
Not only did he kill it working on Days alongside vets like Drake Hogestyn (John), Deidre Hall (Marlena), Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie), and the late Bill Hayes (Doug), but Dick’s just simply a legend who deserved the honor.
The crowd went wild when Dick’s name was called and during his speech.

Dick Van Dyke Won For Outstanding Guest Performance On ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers
The show started by awarding the Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Daytime Drama. Robert Gossard, who plays Marshall Ashford on General Hospital, won.
Gossard was genuine and humble, two things everyone wants to see in a winner. Next, Courtney Hope, who plays Sally Spectra on The Young and the Restless, won.
Hope dedicated her Emmy to all the mothers who lost a child. Her big storyline this year was that her character had a devastating miscarriage. Her performance was heartbreaking.

The 51st Daytime Emmys brought fashion and wins to the stage.
CBS hosted the event, allowing it to be televised live for viewers to revel in what their favorite soap stars were wearing and what they were doing.
The nominations this year were all over the board, and while we had our predictions, we weren’t sure who would actually take home the coveted awards.
In a year affected by writers’ strikes, scribes wrote some of the material the actors worked with and did a good job making it their own.
While there are varying opinions about who won each category, only one can take home the statue.
Here’s which soaps won each category tailored to the genre.
Who won a Daytime Emmy?
Some categories didn’t offer an actor or actress for a particular soap. But without further do, here is a list of winners in the soap-centric categories.

The Daytime Emmys celebrates the best and brightest of daytime television and is as cheery as ever for the 51st annual event. Before getting into the awards presentation, the hosts had to give a shout-out to TV legend Dick Van Dyke who later became a history-making winner during the event as the oldest performer to earn a Daytime Emmy, before turning it over to presenters to announce winners. Along with various categories, several special awards and honors were also handed out, including the Lifetime Achievement which went to The Young and the Restless star Melody Thomas Scott and Daytime Emmy-winning producer Edward J. Scott for their contributions to the world of daytime television. Below, see the full winners list,...

General Hospital was once again the big winner at the Daytime Emmys, while Dick Van Dyke was recognized for his guest work on Days of Our Lives and The Kelly Clarkson Show won its fourth consecutive trophy for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series.
For a few hours Friday, it seemed like the 51st Annual awards wouldn’t occur because IATSE threatened to picket the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles over the show’s use of a non-union crew. Fortunately, IATSE leadership met with the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Friday afternoon and were able to reach an agreement two hours before showtime.

A giddy Dick Van Dyke took home his second Daytime Emmy Friday for guest-starring on Peacock’s Days of Our Lives.
“I don’t believe this. I feel like I’m a spy from nighttime television!” he exclaimed from the stage. “I’m the oldest nominee in history.”
Van Dyke, who won his first Daytime Emmy in 1984 for performing in a children’s program on CBS, reveled in how he had just won for playing Mystery Man/Timothy Robicheaux on Days of our Lives. “If I had known I was gonna live this long, I would have taken care of myself,” he cracked.

He then told the story of how he joined the Peacock show. A friend of his approached him at the gym and suggested he join in on the fun. “I said great and it snowballed into this.

Legendary actor and comedian Dick Van Dyke has made history, winning the 2024 Daytime Emmy award for guest performer in a daytime drama series — via his spot on Peacock’s “Days of Our Lives.” At 98, that makes Van Dyke the oldest actor to receive a Daytime Emmy win.
Van Dyke came into Friday’s 51st Daytime Emmy Awards already making a mark as the oldest Daytime Emmys nominee ever. Night one of the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards took place live on CBS on Friday, June 7, from the Westin Bonaventure hotel in Downtown Los Angeles.

“General Hospital” led night one of the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards, winning four prizes — including the outstanding daytime drama Emmy. “General Hospital” won the top daytime drama award for the fourth year in a row.
“Gh” took an early lead as proceedings got underway, including writing, directing and supporting actor performance in a daytime drama series (Robert Gossett as Marshall Ashford). While accepting the honor for daytime drama directing, the show’s team paid tribute to Johnny Wactor, the former “Gh” performer who was recently killed.
Besides Gossett from “Gh,” daytime acting awards were spread out among several shows, with CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” winning two — for lead actress (Michelle Stafford as Phyllis Summers) and supporting actress (Courtney Hope as Sally Spectra). CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” won the drama actor for Thorsten Kaye as Ridge Forrester, who also won last year.

IATSE leadership met with the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Friday afternoon in an effort to reach an agreement prior to showtime. Deadline understands the deal was reached around 3 p.m. Pt, just two hours before the awards show was set to begin.

“The Young and the Restless” will get back in the winner’s circle at the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards scheduled for Friday night, June 7. That’s according to the combined predictions of Gold Derby users who have placed their bets here in our predictions center. Do you agree the top-rated CBS serial will be named the year’s best soap?
“Y&r” will have to overcome “General Hospital,” which has been on a hot streak, winning for the last three years in a row. In total, “Gh” has won Best Drama Series 16 times, more than any other soap in history. “Y&r” is next in line with 11, including back-to-back wins in 2019 and 2020. No other daytime drama has achieved double-digit victories. In fact, none even come close. The next most awarded serials are the now-defunct “As the World Turns” and the still-running “Days of Our Lives” with four apiece.

It’s almost time for The 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which occur this Friday.
The show will air on CBS so daytime fans can see who takes home the coveted awards first-hand.
In April, the Daytime Emmy nominations gave soap fans a lot to talk about, especially when it came to Dick Van Dyke’s historic nomination.
As the award ceremony draws near, we think it’s time to predict who will win in the soap categories.
To be honest, every single nominee deserves to be a winner, but only one will take home the statue on Friday night.
Here’s who we think will win the Daytime Emmy Awards.

Who is the best male TV star of all time? Our photo gallery above takes on the tough task of ranking the 50 greatest actors and performers. Agree or disagree with our choices?
With over 70 years of television to consider, we had to provide ourselves with a few rules to help simplify things. One of those was that every man in our gallery must have been an ongoing leading star at some point, preferably more often than not. That’s why you will not see such classic supporting actors as Art Carney, Tim Conway, Don Knotts, Peter Dinklage and more. We also do not include any news/sports anchors or journalists such as Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow, Peter Jennings, Howard Cosell since they are not performers.
In order to place them in the rankings, we were looking at a combination of quality (top rated shows with the public or critics...

Maybe it’s the Florida heat, but this series about Miami cop-buddies named Mike (Will Smith) and Marcus (Martin Lawrence) just gets ever more delirious. What started out as a flashy-but-routine police thriller got a sequel in which they invaded Cuba (this was probably the most restrained part of the film) and another in which they went up against a witch (an actual witch). Now, coming quick off the staggering success of part three, we get Bad Boys: Ride Or Die, in which, early on, Marcus suffers a heart attack and experiences a lavish vision quest, complete with magical parrot and a Force Ghost-esque incarnation of Joey Pants. Yes, Joe Pantoliano’s Captain Howard, previously a nuclear-tempered ballbuster prone to spitting lines such as, “I’ve got so much brass up my ass that I can play ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’!”, in this movie is a serene presence, guiding our heroes from beyond the grave.
