FX is diving into the brutal and complex story of Aaron Hernandez with the first trailer for “American Sports Story.” The limited series will premiere on FX on Sept. 17 and will be available to stream on Hulu.
“You don’t know the kind of thoughts I had,” Josh Andrés Rivera as Hernandez says in this first trailer. The clip then flashes between scenes of Aaron loading a gun, running down the football field and smoking in a dark club. “It’s like a demon. What if God made me this way?”
The rest of the trailer snaps between these two extremes. One moment, it shows Aaron playing football with the crowd roaring in his ears. The next, he’s brandishing a gun or hanging out in a sleazy house. No matter what the trailer shows, the same ominous ticking can be heard in the background.

Being all things to all people is impossible. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to live up to people’s expectations, your efforts find a way of sabotaging your best intentions from the inside out. The pressure to perform regardless of your mental well-being often follows athletes like a relentless ghost. All it takes is one slip-up to send you on a downward spiral. In the case of Aaron Hernandez, the gridiron warrior learns the hard way that football dreams and crime don’t mix. FX’s American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez trailer digs deep into the athlete’s downfall for a cautionary tale about expectations, drugs, and throwing it all away.

Dimension 20, Dropout‘s Dungeons & Dragons show, is coming to Madison Square Garden for a night of live Ttrpg adventure.
Dimension 20: Gauntlet at the Garden will bring together the full D20 squad, including dungeon master Brennan Lee Mulligan and players Emily Axford, Ally Beardsley, Brian Murphy, Zac Oyama, Siobhan Thompson, and Lou Wilson, who’ve been dungeoning and dragoning together since 2018.
The show will be part of the group’s Unsleeping City campaign, which is set in a fictional (as far as we know…) and clandestine sixth borough of New York City that’s powered by magic and populated by supernatural residents. So, of course, it is appropriate that the event–which is Dimension 20‘s first U.S. live show since 2019–is also taking place in NYC.

The MLB shared Nameberry’s viral TikTok video connecting the “Succession” character Tom Wambsgans’ surname to an obscure MLB player whose sole memorable moment in the Majors came in Game 5 of the 1920 World Series. A lawsuit exposing a rift between two of Paul Newman’s daughters and the late actor’s charitable foundation alleges its leaders are betraying Newman’s directives for his family to be intimately involved in the organization.
They allege the Newman’s Own Foundation improperly cut the mandated contributions to entities controlled by the daughters, Susan Kendall Newman and Nell Newman, from 400,000 to 200,000 annually, according to the suit filed on Tuesday in Connecticut state court. They claim it’s the first step toward completely ousting their family from the foundation funded by profits from their father’s publicity rights.
“Newman’s Own Foundation lost its way and strayed from its mission to preserve and honor Paul Newman’s legacy,” states the complaint. “The years since Mr. Newman’s death consist of a long and consistent pattern of disregard, by those in control, of Mr.

It's still not clear whether Jake & Amir will ever end up on TV, but at least one other CollegeHumor project has received a full series order. At its upfront presentation, MTV announced Middle of the Night Show, a late-night talk show from CollegeHumor and Electus' Big Breakfast production company.

College Humor has released a hilarious comedy sketch called “How to Tell If You’re a Basic Bro.” The short stars Kerri Kenney as a doctor who diagnoses Brian Murphy as a “basic bro.” She then helps his girlfriend come to terms with her boyfriend’s condition. The sketch points out several ways that a bro can be basic. For those of you not familiar with the "basic bro" term, here's the definition from the Urban Dictionary:
1) One who has no personality; dull and irrelevant
2) Just a top bro
3) Someone who dresses like everyone else, with some edge
4) Someone who thinks they are flawless
Sounds like a category that no one would want to fall under, but so many guys do. This is a great sketch that is sure to make a lot of you laugh, so check it out when you get a chance. Here's a brief caption that...

This story first appeared in the Nov. 7 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine. When Omaze founders Matt Pohlson and Ryan Cummins began looking for new office space in the spring for their fast-growing online charity fundraising platform, they were determined to stay in Venice. But an eight-month search turned up few viable options, and the company had reached near-critical mass with 30 employees packed into an 1,100-square-foot live/work loft, part of a Frank Gehry/Brian Murphy-designed compound formerly owned by Dennis Hopper. Now they are nearing a deal to move Omaze five miles

Take two gingery Brits whose talent is exceptional, a couple of gifted American actors and make them deliver, through music, society’s paranoias, what you get is a flick that is charming in its peculiarity. Irish director Lenny Abrahamson is accustomed to using misfits to analyse contemporary malaise, through dark comedy. In his first film, ‘Adam & Paul,’ a pair of heroin addicts made their way around Dublin in search of a fix, whilst his latter ‘What Richard Did’ fictionalised the assault on Brian Murphy, outside the Burlington Hotel in Dublin in 2000. Cerritos, Calif. -- While the man behind an anti-Islam movie that ignited violence across the Middle East would likely face swift punishment in his native Egypt for making the film, in America the government is in the thorny position of protecting his free speech rights and looking out for his safety even while condemning his message.
It's a paradox that makes little sense to those protesting and calling for blood. To them, the movie dialogue denigrating the Prophet Muhammad is all the evidence needed to pursue justice – vigilante or otherwise – against Nakoula Bassely Nakoula, an American citizen originally from Egypt.
In America, there's nothing illegal about making a movie that disparages a religious figure. And that has the Obama administration walking a diplomatic tight rope less than two months before the election – how to express outrage over the movie's treatment of Islam without compromising the most basic American freedom.

.Let us not blaspheme.. The Ford brothers may have pissed off some local witch doctor since their production has the definite feeling of being under a curse when you hear about all they had to go through. Bad shoot must equal good movie since the end product is pretty good. The dead are rising and roaming the Earth. Americans are trying to get out of Africa as the slow moving dead are ravaging the countryside and killing to swell their ranks. Lt. Brian Murphy (Rob Freeman) is on the last plane out of the area but it crashes into the ocean and he barely makes it ashore. Meanwhile, Sgt. In the Ford Brothers' zombie opus The Dead, actor Rob Freeman portrays Lieutenant Brian Murphy, an American caught in Africa during a zombie uprising, and we recently caught up with the actor for a brief chat about the film.
In The Dead Freeman's character survives a harrowing plane crash in western Africa only to come to realize he's got bigger issues than his plane going down: He's surrounding by hordes of flesh-hungry zombies who threaten the American engineer along every step of his dangerous journey out of the desolate and ravaged world he's been left behind in.
With the film's DVD and Blu-ray release occurring this Valentine's Day courtesy of Anchor Bay Entertainment, we asked Freeman about the real-life dangers he and the entire cast and crew faced while shooting the zombie film in Burkina Faso and Ghana and how even a brush with death couldn't keep him from working...

Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers will be hoping it won’t be a case of festive deja vu as his side face Qpr at the Liberty Stadium today, a team which they lost to 4-0 on Boxing Day last year.
Both teams will no doubt be looking to secure three points in what could be a very important match determining their pre new year league positions. Qpr sit only 2 points, and 1 position, off 15th placed Swansea but a victory for either team would provide them a much safer outlook for 2012.
After being seemingly pipped by Everton regarding the interest of Northern Irish up and coming hot shot Rory Donnelly, Brendan Rodgers will be looking to his forward line to find the target today. Goals have been hard to come by for Swansea with only Wigan Athletic offering a lower goal tally than the Welsh team.

When looking at Liverpool’s results this season it’s pretty obvious to see why they are in the position they are in. They have dropped too many points against the bottom half clubs in the league compared to the sides above them. The likes of Norwich, Swansea and Sunderland have come to Anfield and got away with something.
Which brings us to today’s game against 11th place Qpr on their own ground at Anfield. On paper, this should be a match that Liverpool take the maximum points against a side that just recently got promoted. But then history tell us Liverpool have only won one of their last seven matches against newly-promoted Premier League sides and it’s these dropped points that are a major reason why they haven’t been challenging for so long.

Queens Park Rangers should feel that they’ve made a pleasing start to the season as they sit just underneath the top 10. Although they suffered a 4-0 battering on the first day of the season against a Bolton side who are struggling at the moment under Owen Coyle, they’ve bounced back and have recorded valuable victories over the likes of Chelsea, Wolves and held off in-from Newcastle on home soil a few months ago. But one thing Neil Warnock’s men have been missing lately is goals.
Heidar Helguson has been the only real threat infront of goal for them recently with five goals this season, but with DJ Campbell out injured and Jay Bothroyd not making the fastest of starts to his Rangers career, they do look rather ordinary in the final third. But I’m sure a few January signings will cover that. The London side lost...

Oliver Reed, Vanessa Redgrave, The Devils Ken Russell, the director of Women in Love, The Boy Friend, and Altered States, died Sunday, Nov. 27, at the age of 84. Coincidentally, the British Film Institute, with much fanfare, announced several months ago that it would be releasing for the first time on DVD the X-rated version of Russell's The Devils, a mix of history, political intrigue, religious fanaticism, and unbridled sex in 17th-century France. The X-rated version is purported to be the uncut version of The Devils. Well, it's not, really. Adapted by Russell from John Whiting's 1960 play and Aldous Huxley's 1952 historical novel The Devils of Loudun, The Devils stars Vanessa Redgrave (in lieu of a recalcitrant Glenda Jackson) as Loudun's Ursuline convent head Sister Jeanne, a neurotic, physically deformed woman who is sexually obsessed with local priest Urbain Grandier (Oliver Reed). Following a series of "possessions" in the convent, Grandier...
