Agatha All Along‘s third episode has sneaked in quite a reference back to WandaVision, a scene that could mean more things than one. After what seems like a slew of scarlet herrings, it seems that the show decided to rip the bandage and name-drop the entity that has, ironically enough, haunted the MCU ever since WandaVision premiered. Mephisto exists in the MCU.

However, what also has gotten the focus of the fans is that Sharon Davis had a particular type of meltdown when she saw Agatha choke down her drink, possibly harkening back to one of the scenes that first revealed that Wanda might be living in a constructed reality where she alone has absolute power.
Sharon Davis’ real pleas to Wanda from WandaVision might finally be heard by audiences Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch in WandaVision...

To go lead or not to go lead? That is the question. Luckily, we got a lot of answers this week. Gold Derby editors and Experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here to discuss the Oscar category campaigns of several high-profile contenders.
Saoirse Ronan already has a clear lead performance in “The Outrun,” but she won’t compete against herself for votes in the category. As Gold Derby reported, the four-time Oscar nominee will go supporting for Steve McQueen‘s upcoming World War II drama “Blitz,” in which she plays a mother who’s separated from her 9-year-old son, George (Elliott Heffernan). We discuss why this isn’t a case of category fraud and her likelihood of becoming the 13th performer to score double Oscar nominations in one year.

As Marvel Studios' Vision series (previously titled "Vision Quest") continues to round out its cast, we have a very interesting rumor relating to Tony Stark and his father Howard's former assistants.
According to Mttsh, Kerry Condon and James D'Arcy will appear as their respective characters, F.R.I.D.A.Y and Jarvis.
Condon provided the voice of Tony's second AI after J.A.R.V.I.S. (Paul Bettany) was transformed into Vision, while D'Arcy played the human the "natural-language user interface computer system" was named after, Edwin Jarvis.
How these characters will factor into the show remains to be seen.
The project is being described as "the third part of a trilogy that started with WandaVision and continues in Agatha All Along."
We found out earlier this year that the Vision show had been revamped, with Star Trek: Picard executive producer Terry Matalas now on board as showrunner.

The impact of WandaVision continues to be felt three years after its arrival. The Marvel Cinematic Universe series brought Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany's respective characters into the spotlight, giving Wanda Maximoff and Vision the focus that they just never had in the previous MCU movies. It was also a game-changer for the franchise.
Wanda evolved into the Scarlet Witch and continued her story through Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, while Vision was resurrected as the White Vision (after his death in Avengers: Infinity War) and, after a run-in with the magically-resurrected Westview Vision, regained all of his memories. The WandaVision stories continue beyond the original Disney Plus series, as Agatha All Along brings back Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness and Vision Quest will bring back Paul Bettany as the White Vision.

A new family drama starring Elizabeth Olsen has surprised viewers by becoming one of Netflix’s most watched movies. The film, titled “His Three Daughters,” follows three estranged sisters who reunite to care for their sick father. It now sits at number five on Netflix’s top 10 list.
The movie stars Elizabeth Olsen, Natasha Lyonne, and Carrie Coon as the three sisters. They must work through complicated relationships and memories from their past. Audiences have connected strongly with the touching story of family healing. Film critics also highly praise “His Three Daughters,” awarding it a 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Director Azazel Jacobs creates a blend of emotion and humor in his films. He brought that style to telling this family’s story. Jacobs is known for movies such as “French Exit” and “The Lovers.” His previous works skillfully mixed darkness with deeply human themes. Critics say he refined this talent for his latest film.

That Ending Of ‘His Three Daughters’ And The Habit of Bold Narrative Shifts in American Indie Cinema
Let me get into this straightaway. [Spoilers Ahead] During the climax of His Three Daughters, Jay. O. Sanders’ Vincent, aka the father, doesn’t magically get better and give that monologue to his daughters right before his death. Given the condition of his health throughout the movie, that seems quite impossible. Makes sense that didn’t happen, then. What really happened was that Katie, Christina, and Rachel took their father to his favorite lounge chair, where he died. Before his death, though, Vincent did briefly regain consciousness, but that’s about it. However, the important thing here is that the man actually got to see his three daughters united on one front while they were carrying him to his favorite plush chair. That’s the memory he left with, which does matter a lot here.
What exactly happened then? Well, Azazel Jacobs’ film took a sudden narrative shift where you, the audience,...

After Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we still don't know what's next for the Scarlet Witch in the MCU. The character does appear to have died, but her story surely isn't over and there are plenty of places Wanda Maximoff can still go after her rampage through the Multiverse.
If online scoopers are to be believed, a Scarlet Witch movie is somewhere on the horizon and we have good reason to believe Agatha All Along will offer an update on Wanda's status, if not a full-blown cameo from Elizabeth Olsen.
There have been lots of rumours about the character in recent weeks, but @MyTimeToShineH has just shared a big update.
According to the scooper, "Marvel Studios has big plans for Wanda/Scarlet Witch which include a solo movie, two more WandaVision spinoff series and giving her a major role in the next Avengers films and The Mutant Saga.

As a fan of “His Three Daughters” even before its 2023 Toronto International Film Festival debut, it’s been a long wait for the rest of the world to finally see it. Not only has Azazel Jacobs‘ sublime drama ended up as one of the most acclaimed films released in 2024, but it had a very strong debut on Netflix this past weekend, landing at no. 5 on the streamer’s movie top 10 list in less than a week of views.

Elizabeth Olsen Confirms 007 Actor Daniel Craig was Originally Cast in Doctor Strange 2 - Main Image
WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen is often endeared to fans because of her straightforward attitude off-camera, and she has no qualms about knowing anything about the process that they have on Marvel Studios—even one time publicly admitting he had no idea John Krasinski would be in Multiverse of Madness.
It’s been said that Thor’s brother Balder the Brave was supposed to be in the film before they decided to bring in Mr. Fantastic, and Olsen confirms that he was going to be played by an A-list actor.

Wanda was never just a character in the MCU; she started as a villain, transformed into a hero, and ultimately became a tragic figure with a poignant backstory. After experiencing immense loss, she returned to villainy but eventually found redemption by destroying the Darkhold and, reportedly, taking her own life.
The conclusion of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness raised numerous unanswered questions, and the official statements provided little clarity on whether Wanda still exists within the MCU.
Fans are eagerly anticipating Wanda’s return to the MCU, possibly in Agatha All Along or the upcoming Vision series. However, recent rumors suggest that her comeback may be delayed a bit longer.
Industry insider MyTimeToShineHello has shared that Scarlet Witch is set to return in Avengers: Doomsday, and she will have a significant role in the storyline.

Marvel’s Thunderbolts* recently released a teaser trailer, which has the fans excited. Florence Pugh’s Yelena takes center stage for it, as the rest of the tag team of antiheroes and villains come together under one roof (and thumb). Julia Louis Dreyfus, responsible for bringing the Thunderbolts together, makes an appearance at the very end, as the teaser leaves us wanting more.

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Scarlet Witch, Elizabeth Olsen has earned herself a legion of fans (she's also earned the title of "mother" among her biggest devotees...don't ask!).
This version of the Wanda Maximoff debuted in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron thanks to a complicated rights loophole which saw Marvel Studios also allowed to use the mutant and her brother Pietro/Quicksilver due to their history with the team.
Despite losing her mutant status, in the years that have followed, the Scarlet Witch has become a key part of this shared world. That was evident from her role in movies like Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.
Later, she took centre stage in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Controversially, the latter left the hero's fate very much up in the air and Wanda hasn't been seen since; on the plus side, rumours of a solo outing persist,...

In the second episode, Joe Locke's character goes to tell Agatha Harkness his name but it's hidden by a sigil that appears across his mouth. Later, he recounts his past but the witch is unable to hear any of what he's saying, creating yet another big mystery.

Marvel Studios is the biggest titan in Hollywood. Their Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise is the untouchable champion of the box office, having grossed a collective $30 billion in the years since it all began with the release of Iron Man in 2008. Elizabeth Olsen used to frequent the indie drama scene before her prolonged stint in the MCU; in that context, seeing her return to form with Netflix’s recent family drama, Azazel Jacobs’ His Three Daughters, was a decent experience for the fans. Playing the role of Christina, the youngest daughter of dying Vincent, Olsen was able to navigate through the layered characterization by subtly exploring the deep-seated inner pathos, deftly contrasting with the superficial external façade.

Spoiler Warning: This story includes major plot details in the first two episodes of “Agatha All Along,” currently streaming on Disney+.
In the wake of the runaway success of “WandaVision” in 2021, the show’s creator, Jac Schaeffer, immediately got to work on coming up with her next streaming series for Marvel Studios. But she found it difficult to escape her first show’s setting and one of its residents in particular: Agatha Harkness, the insidious, perfidious witch, played to the hilt by Kathryn Hahn, who fails in her attempt to steal the power of the Scarlet Witch.
“Everything I developed, I was like, ‘And then in Episode 5, they have to go to Westview for whatever reason, and this is where they run into Agatha,’” Schaeffer tells Variety. “I just couldn’t stop. I love that world.”
Eventually, Schaeffer realized that her next Marvel show should just be about Agatha, and Marvel Studios was,...

Note: The following article contains “Agatha All Along” spoilers for the premiere episode.
“Agatha All Along” is here and bringing a whole lot of witchiness to the MCU. But the premiere episode also brought several questions with it.
Now streaming on Disney+, the new series picks up three years after the events of “WandaVision,” back in Westview. Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) is long gone but Agatha Harkness is still there, trapped in Wanda’s spell.
When we find her again, she believes she’s Agnes O’Connor, a grizzled detective in the vein of Kate Winslet’s character from “Mare of Easttown”. But an old colleague in the form of Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza) and a mysterious newcomer (Joe Locke) are determined to break her free.
When they succeed, Agatha realizes exactly who she is and how much power she no longer has — and who’s after her now. There...

Death has been on Elizabeth Olsen’s mind lately. It started — or, rather, became much more acute — on a recent helicopter ride. The actress was on an East Coast press tour for her new movie, His Three Daughters, and Netflix scheduled a junket day in New York City, followed by a screening out in the Hamptons. The tight turnaround meant that Olsen, her co-star Natasha Lyonne and a studio rep had only one way to get there in time.
“I’ll never do it again,” she says. “It was 45 minutes straight of me creating a narrative about how I’m going to die.” As she’s telling this story, she divulges that, actually, she thinks about her own death all the time. The notion of the chopper hurtling over greater Long Island takes its place in line behind car accidents and random acts of violence.

WandaVision Writer Jac Schaeffer Opens Up on Scarlet Witch's Villainous Turn in Doctor Strange 2 - Main Image
WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer recently opened up about the Scarlet Witch's villainous turn in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The hit MCU sequel saw the fan-favorite character become the main villain after she was corrupted by the power of the Darkhold. She presumably "died" at the end of the film and it was recently addressed in Agatha All Along.
While Elizabeth Olsen's performance was widely praised, some fans were not happy with the characterization of the Scarlet Witch as they believed that it was not in alignment with her arc in WandaVision.

Natasha Lyonne is an actress who wears many hats — and she will soon possibly add feature film director and writer to that oeuvre.
The star of His Three Daughters, opposite Elizabeth Olsen and Carrie Coon, teased in a recent interview with the New York Times that she is working on her first movie, which she wrote and expects to helm soon. She is hopeful for the project’s timeline, especially “if we can just get me a second or third self,” she said in jest.
While the Poker Face actress, who is currently filming Season 2 of the Rian Johnson sleuth series, was reticent to share details about the pic’s synopsis, she revealed: “If you’re a dog person, then you’re going to love it, because it plays with time, just like dog years do.” (The veteran actress has a 14-year-old dog named Rootbeer.

Netflix’s film adaptation of Scott Westerfeld’s young adult novel “Uglies” received a lukewarm reception from audiences and critics since its release. The movie initially ranked as the top film on Netflix but was quickly surpassed by other titles like “The Garfield Movie.” This rapid drop from the top spot, combined with lackluster reviews, calls into question whether Netflix will pursue sequels from the book’s expanded franchise.
“Uglies,” starring Joey King, depicts a dystopian future where 16-year-olds undergo mandatory cosmetic surgery to conform to beauty standards. While the film attempted to capture key elements from the novel, reviews gave it an average 15% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Audience ratings were only slightly higher at 47%. Despite these mediocre scores, interest from fans of the book series and King’s celebrity kept “Uglies” at number one briefly.
Nonetheless, industry observers noted the movie’s stay at the top was short-lived.

It's time; Agatha All Along has officially arrived on Disney Plus and it is set to continue bewitching our lives throughout the remainder of the spooky season. The Marvel Studios spooktacular will run over the course of seven weeks, with a special double-episode finale streaming just prior to Halloween, making the show the joint-longest Marvel Cinematic Universe series yet, sharing a nine-episode count with WandaVision, She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, and What If...?.
Speaking of the MCU, Agatha All Along is indeed a part of the Marvel Studios franchise, as its 11th TV series produced for Disney Plus. But, as we've seen in the past, that doesn't mean you have to watch every single project in the franchise to understand it. In fact, as it has a standalone Special Presentation quality about it, few titles are entirely necessary to watch before it to grasp what is going on. There are, however,...

For those who’ve watched the first episode of the “WandaVision” spinoff “Agatha All Along,” you’ll know there’s an unexpected moment around the halfway mark that will make you wonder if you’re watching it on Disney+ or HBO. Episode 1 starts with Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness trapped in a true-crime version of life similar to “Mare of Easttown,” a result of the spell Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) put on her at the end of “WandaVision.” Thankfully, Rio (Aubrey Plaza) invades the spell to remind her of who she is, pushing her to strip through all the characters she’s played in her attempt to steal Wanda’s chaos magic, until finally, she’s completely nude.
“Well, I came up with it,” Hahn said in a recent interview with Variety. “I thought it was good to see her as stripped down, literally, as we possibly could, which spoke into...

Captain America's third adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe had the nearly impossible task of continuing his titular character's stand-alone arc, introducing audiences to key players such as Spider-Man and Black Panther, and creating one of the most memorable superhero battles we've ever seen on the big screen. Fortunately, it delivered big time by doing all this and more.
The movie features a complex narrative that pits our favorite characters against each other in one heartbreaking rollercoaster of a ride. So before we watch Earth's Mightiest Heroes assemble once again in Avengers: Doomsday, it's time to remember their fallout and break down the ending of Captain America: Civil War.
The Sokovia Accords disassembled the Avengers
Earth's Mightiest Heroes have always fought for the greater good. They protect the little guy and save as many lives under the most dire of circumstances. However, that doesn't mean there isn't collateral damage along the way.

When superheroes and comic book characters engage in battle, they often cause significant damage. While this isn’t intentional for most heroes, harm and casualties inevitably occur. At times, heroes do intentionally inflict casualties, as defeating their opponents is crucial for victory.
Though some heroes, like Batman and Superman, may adopt a “no-kill” policy, this is more of an exception than the norm. Generally, superheroes don’t hesitate to eliminate their foes, whether they are monsters, aliens, or other adversaries.
With that in mind, let’s examine the kill count of a key comic book character—specifically, her version in the MCU. We’re talking about Scarlet Witch, and surprisingly, her numbers in the series show that her descent into villainy makes perfect sense.
The information we’re presenting comes from an IMDb list created by user Creedswede, who took the time to document the kill count of both major and minor MCU characters,...

For a time, it looked like Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was putting all his eggs in a Rick & Morty-shaped basket. He tapped a number of writers from that series to work on the Multiverse Saga, including Jeff Loveness and Michael Waldron.
The former penned Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania before being hired for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, while Waldron was Head Writer on Loki before writing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Feige had so much faith in Waldron that he teamed with him for a Star Wars movie that never happened and even got him to replace Loveness on The Kang Dynasty. However, things have since changed and Waldron's time in the MCU appears to be over.
Despite Loki receiving widespread critical acclaim, it's believed season 2 Head Writer Eric Martin played a much bigger role in that first batch of episodes than originally reported.

At a screening and Q&a promoting her film “His Three Daughters,” Natasha Lyonne revealed she once auditioned for a lead role in the 1998 cult classic “Wild Things.” The erotic thriller directed by John McNaughton remains memorable for its lurid atmosphere, twisty plot and frank sexual scenes, including a threesome between characters played by Matt Dillon, Neve Campbell and Denise Richards.
Lyonne, who is currently starring in “His Three Daughters,” written and directed by Azazel Jacob and which hits Netflix Friday, appeared with castmates Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen and Jovan Adepo at the LA event. The filmmaker wrote the story about three sisters who gather to care for their terminal father with all four of the actors in mind. The cast expressed surprise and gratitude upon having the roles penned for them and reflected upon a time when they weren’t so fortunate and had to endure a lot of auditions that went nowhere.

Could “Challengers,” which moved from an awards season slot last year due to the strikes to a less prestigious March release date this year, actually be a contender after all? The psychosexual tennis drama generated a lot of buzz and a fairly impressive box office performance, and it wouldn’t be crazy to wonder if nominations for Zendaya (Best Actress), Josh O’Connor (Best Supporting Actor), and Justin Kuritzkes (Best Original Screenplay) are possible. Ok, they’re admittedly pretty unlikely, but we do predict that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross should be nominated for their pounding electronic score. The film is now available to stream on Prime Video.
“Challengers,” which hails from director Luca Guadagnino, is about a bizarre love triangle between Tashi (Zendaya), a tennis phenom whose career was derailed by an injury, her husband Art (Mike Faist), who became a superstar under her tutelage but is exhausted by his life,...

Hot on the heels of an impressive showing at the Emmys, FX is hoping its newest anthology series, the uniquely American drama “American Sports Story,” will capture viewers’ attention in much the same way. The first installment is based on the podcast “Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc.” from The Boston Globe’s award-winning Spotlight team and Wondery. It traces Hernandez’s (Josh Rivera) rise and fall, from his days as a high school standout in Bristol, Conn., to his death in prison in 2017, two years after being convicted of murder.
Across 10 riveting episodes — the first two of which are streaming on Hulu — the series explores Hernandez’s troubled life and career, and the issues that influenced and came to define it, including the commodification of brown and Black athletes and the reckless disregard for player safety. I remember when I watched Marriage Story, even before it really got into the film, I knew it was going to leave me shattered, some sort of hunch from the little I knew about the film, that is the poster and who was in it. But with those trivial details, within the first 5 minutes of the film, I was already afraid for my heart. I felt the exact same sinking feeling when I watched the opening scene of His Three Daughters. Of course, with that title and the poster, it’s more likely than not you can tell that this is going to end badly; it’s going to be melancholic, but you could also think, “Here’s yet another film that tries to take on the concept of grief.” His Three Daughters is a film that will bring to the forefront all of your overwhelming emotions. Looking at the larger picture, the MCU is still relatively new to television, with the bulk of its releases dropping on the big screen. Still, there are ten live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe entries to date. The quality of the series have ranged from excellent to dreadful, a large chunk of them following somewhere in the middle. So, to celebrate the release of Agatha All Along, now streaming on Disney+, we ranked the entirety of the live-action television entries from worst to best.
10. Secret Invasion Samuel L. Jackson in Secret Invasion
An espionage story featuring Samuel L. Jackson in a leading role sounds perfect on paper. Throw in the fact that it’s a paranoid thriller in the style of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and the premise appears even stronger. What should have been a homerun for Marvel fell flat. The writing was weak, and Samuel L. Jackson gave the dullest performance of his career.

Agatha All Along Showrunner Jac Schaeffer Explains Why We Don't See [Spoiler]'s Face In The Premiere
Agatha All Along's first episode, "Seekest Thou The Road," opens with Agnes now a police detective in Westview. Following a recent suspension, she's been called in to investigate the body of a woman that's been discovered in the woods.
WandaVision's Herb is there and reveals the victim was crushed elsewhere before somehow being dumped in the middle of nowhere. Upon closer inspection, it's apparent that this is meant to be Wanda Maximoff, and while we never see her face, there are plenty of hints about that being the case, including some familiar darkened fingers and the fact the dirt under her fingernails is Eastern European.
The body - with its scarlet hair - disappears and reappears in the morgue, with Wanda Maximoff's name eventually showing on a toe tag alongside "Agatha Harkness."
Rio Vidal then explains that Agatha is trapped in a distorted spell and we see the witch transform...

Rating: 5.0/5.0
The three women of the title are Katie (Carrie Coon), Christina (Elizabeth Olsen) and Rachel (Natasha Lyonne), and they are gathered together reluctantly to care for their father in New York City as he enters hospice … the final healthcare stage of death. The daughters of Vincent (Jay O. Sanders) are far-flung, with Katie nearby but an impatient mess, out-of-town Christina still in bliss over her 3-year-old daughter and half-sister Rachel as a pot smoking, online bettor who has been taking care of Vincent throughout his illness. The clash of wills in a confined apartment in mourning will take its toll.

“His Three Daughters” is a movie starring Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen, and Natasha Lyonne. It is written and directed by Azazel Jacobs.
“His Three Daughters” is a cinematic experience that delves deeply into the intricacies of character development, psychological landscapes, and the internal worlds of its protagonists, rather than relying on external action to drive the narrative. It would be easy to categorize the film as adopting a theatrical approach, yet that would be an oversimplification. Azazel Jacobs adeptly transforms what could have been a stage play into an astutely crafted visual masterpiece. The structure and narrative forms might evoke comparisons to some of Ingmar Bergman’s iconic films, adding an extra layer of sophistication.

We are back in Westview, Marvel fans, and boy, does it feel good. After nearly three years since the premiere of WandaVision, where the world was introduced to the witchy villain Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn), we are right back in her spooky graces.
Since it has been a while since the events of WandaVision unfolded, let's take a minute to brush up on where Agatha All Along kicks off. At the end of that series, Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) cast a spell on Agatha, basically condemning her to a life where she does not remember who she is while living day in and day out as if she exists in a fictional world of television. The rest of Westview's residents were set free from this spell, but not Agatha, who tried to steal Wanda's powers and suffered the consequences.
It's a pretty awful yet fitting punishment, but the spell is broken with some witchy interventions,...
