- David Spenser was born on March 12, 1934 in Colombo, Ceylon. He was an actor and director, known for A Farewell to Arms (1966), Paul of Tarsus (1960) and The Earth Dies Screaming (1964). He died on July 20, 2013 in Spain.
- His partner since the 1960s has been Doctor Who scriptwriter Victor Pemberton. In the 1990s they formed a production company which produced television documentaries, including one on comedian Benny Hill. In recent years they have retired to Spain.
- He started out as a child actor at the age of 11, starring in the title role of the radio play "Just William" (1948). He returned to radio in his later years as a producer of radio plays for the BBC.
- He was the elder brother of Jeremy Spenser.
