When Lars Ulrich reflects on Metallica’s massive Damaged Justice tour now, he marvels that they were able to pull it off at all. “No band as extreme as ours had ever done a full arena tour,” he says. “So it was definitely a crapshoot, and it paid off.”
“Those were the years that we proved ourselves,” Jason Newsted, the band’s bassist at the time, says. “We were firing on all cylinders. Once the ‘One’ video came out, we were ready for it and the world was ready for Metallica.

Modders are incredibly talented people, a fact exemplified by the sheer amount of them who go on to get jobs in the industry. They’re also highly passionate, caring so much about a game as to essentially work on it with little hope of any monetary reward. In some cases, modders have helped fix broken or unplayable PC ports of console games, rendering them somewhat playable even after the original developers have long thrown in the towel.
Considering their talents and their often lofty ambitions however,
it’s surprising just how many mods out there don’t take themselves at all seriously. In fact, some are downright hilarious; take BeakieHelmet’s Dark Souls one for example, which does nothing but alter the “You Died” death screen to “Thanks Obama”. Then there’s the countless Skyrim mods that turn dragon shouts into dragon farts, or horses into Tommy Wiseau.

Hey folks. Michael C. here. There are few constants in my pop culture life. Woody Allen is one of them. The last time a year passed without a Woody Allen movie was 1981 when I was one year old. Like The Simpsons or SNL, I don't pay nearly as much attention as I used to, but I take a great comfort in knowing they're always there and always will be. I'd be lost if they ever went away.
The past eight years of Woody. How many did you see? Enjoy?
So I'm on board no matter how many Jade Scorpions he compulsively cranks out from now until eternity. I'm already picking through the just released details of his 2013 film, Blue Jasmine, if only in the hopes that my annual pilgrimage will be a brilliant Crimes and Misdemeanors or at very least an entertaining Vicky Christina. At this point there is no more than a title,...
