An adaptation of the classic Mary Shelley novel Frankenstein has long been a dream project for director Guillermo del Toro, the filmmaker with such credits as Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, Hellboy, and Blade II. He’s been talking about it for at least 17 years – and now he’s actually making it! After previous attempts to get the project going fell through, Netflix stepped up to let del Toro make the Frankenstein movie he’s been dreaming of. They haven’t announced a release date for the film yet, but while we wait for that news to come along, here’s Everything We Know About Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein:
Long Road To Production
Del Toro has named Frankenstein as his favorite novel, and in 2007, he told us that the project he “would kill to make” is a faithful “Miltonian tragedy” version of Frankenstein. He said that he...

When Doctor Strange hit theaters, it was a reminder that not all superheroes start out as heroes. Some of them are egotistical men who are selfishly looking for a cure to something.
That was exactly the case for Dr. Stephen Strange. This brilliant neuroscientist found himself unable to operate after a serious car accident. Rather than move on with his life and find something else he was good at, he put his focus on experimental and dangerous treatments.
That led to him finding Kamar-Taj, where the sorcorer Mordo takes him to see the Ancient One. She doesn’t want to train him, and part of that is due to her current personal situation.
Kaecilius threatened to destroy the world in Doctor Strange
The movie started with a sorcerer called Kaecilius, who went to the secret Kamar-Taj with his zealots. They beheaded the librarian and stole several pages of a book...

Irish director John Crowley and his “We Live in Time” actor Andrew Garfield hosted the last of this year’s star-studded San Sebastian press conferences for their Official Selection player, which will close the 72nd edition of the festival this evening.
Also starring Florence Pugh, “We Live in Time,” written by acclaimed playwright Nick Payne (“The Crown”), is the time-twisted love story of Almut and Tobias. Through disordered snapshots of their life together, the two experience great joys like parenthood, meeting each other’s families, a marriage proposal, and life-changing tragedies such as divorce and a recurring ovarian cancer diagnosis. The couple learns through their shared memories to cherish each moment of the roundabout path their relationship has traveled.
During Saturday morning’s press conference, Garfield said he was in a contemplative place when Payne’s screenplay crossed his desk. “When I read [the script], I was in deep contemplation of the meaning of life.

Crime television series have been earning a lot of viewer attention lately, with decades-old shows still being hailed as some of the best ones to date. Even though fans are still madly in love with the mysteriously immersive element of this respective show, multiple other additions to the genre are putting up tough competition to the British mystery crime saga established by Cumberbatch. If anything, the 7 crime TV shows mentioned in this list might as well be considered as good as Sherlock, if not better.

Spider-Man and Doctor Strange have a classic tandem in the comics, but fans of the MCU saw they had a different bond in the movies, especially after what happened in Spider-Man: No Way Home. While the spell cast by the Sorcerer Supreme was truly a shocking event, it’s no more surprising than the fact that it wasn’t their first interaction – at least on the big screen.

Many years ago, Peter Parker and Stephen Strange met in one of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films. It’s hard to believe, but there was an allusion all along, and many fans did not seem to notice it.

Why Agatha All Along Chose Not to Address WandaVision's Quicksilver - Main Image
It’s easy to forget that Wanda Maximoff had a twin brother Pietro since he died in the film that he was introduced in, but WandaVision had brought a version of Pietro back in the form of Evan Peters.
While fans have wondered what Peters getting cast in the role could mean for the Marvel multiverse, it ultimately didn’t lead to anything, and Ralph Bohner was considered to be one of the worst things about WandaVision. Even if that was the case, Quicksilver still had some influence in the spinoff Agatha All Along.

In a recent interview with ComicBook about his new movie, Long Gone Heroes, Grillo admitted that he had to be cautious about what he says.
You know, unfortunately, there’s nothing I can really say that wouldn’t get me in trouble. So I kind of have to step back and go, ‘I take the fifth. I am so bad at this. Scott Cooper hit a home run in his first filmmaking at bat with "Crazy Heart," a melancholy drama about an alcoholic country music singer (Jeff Bridges) who's wrecked his life many times over and is about to crash for the last time despite entering into an unexpectedly healthy relationship with a journalist (Maggie Gyllenhaal). The film earned Bridges his first, long overdue Oscar for Best Actor, and though the film itself was a touch formulaic, Cooper's direction of his first-rate cast gave him a reputation as an actor-friendly filmmaker.
Cooper's follow-up was the moody-as-hell crime yarn "Out of the Furnace," which, even with another spectacular cast, failed to connect with critics. Cooper's sophomore effort missed commercially as well, but he was due another shot with "Crazy Heart" not too far off in the rearview, so he took on the gangster flick "Black Mass." It's long been known that "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" underwent some behind-the-scenes changes when original director Scott Derrickson departed in 2020, to be replaced by Sam Raimi. What those changes were, though, and indeed what Derrickson had planned in the first place, remained unclear... until, it seems, now.
"X-Men '97" creator and former showrunner Beau DeMayo has shared details on X/Twitter. Apparently, big changes were made during rewrites to the Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), turning her from supporting hero to villain.
Recap time: Wanda — once an Avenger — went a little mad with grief after Thanos (Josh Brolin) murdered her android lover Vision (Paul Bettany) back in "Avengers: Infinity War." In Disney+ series "WandaVision," she let loose her reality-warping powers to another level, brainwashing the town of Westview, New Jersey to make an idyllic sitcom-life for herself and a magical facsimile of Vision. "Multiverse of Madness" carries on from there,...

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ served as a solo sequel to the original ‘Doctor Strange’ film that first introduced the sorcerer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Sam Raimi, the movie depicted Doctor Strange in a confrontation with Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, as her transition into a villain was fully realized.
While the film received a mixed reception and is often not ranked among the MCU’s best, largely due to criticism of its storyline, it still holds an important place within the franchise.
Despite the film’s divisive response, Doctor Strange remains a pivotal character in the MCU, with his significance expected to expand further, particularly within the context of the Multiverse Saga and the anticipated arrival of Doctor Doom.
However, as is typical with Marvel, details about the character’s future remain tightly under wraps. To shed light on what might be coming,...

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was the solo sequel to the hit film Doctor Strange, which introduced the titular superhero to the MCU. The film was directed by Sam Raimi and featured Strange in a clash with Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, whose seemingly villainous turn was completed in that movie. The film was solid, but it had its critics, and it is, today, not regarded as one of the best MCU movies, probably because of the poor story.
But, regardless of the movie, Doctor Strange is currently one of the most important MCU characters, and his role, going forward, is something that will most likely grow, especially within the framework of the Multiverse Saga and the appearance of Doctor Doom.
But, Marvel is being traditionally secretive about the future, which is why we have turned to a popular and reliable MCU insider, Alex Perez, who reveals some...

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was certainly one of the more odd films from Marvel’s recent difficult years. Even though the first film did excellently well, and the sequel featured the beloved Wanda Maximoff, the 2022 film ended up being disappointing in a completely new way for audiences.

Rather than hating on new characters or disliking the concept of a show, fans were upset at the franchise for the way that they dealt with fan-favorite characters like the Scarlet Witch and Steven Stange. One of the most frustrating points in the film was also the fate of Maximoff by the end.
The fact that after everything she went through over the years, Marvel decided to kill off Wanda rather than help her get back on her feet made more than a few angry.

THR reports that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton is in talks to helm Spider-Man 4. This move would bring a little fresh blood to the Spidey franchise, as Jon Watts has directed the last three installments of the series.
The Shang-Chi director was once attached to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but he dropped out a year later. And if we’re not going to be getting the Shang-Chi sequel anytime soon, this leap to Spider-Man 4 is a welcome return to the Marvel family. Cretton is also the co-creator of Marvel’s upcoming Wonder Man series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are scripting the new Spider-Man sequel, with THR’s sources saying that the project is expected to shoot early next year. Marianne Jean-Baptiste says that she’s playing “the ultimate Karen” in Mike Leigh’s new film Hard Truths. The character’s name is, actually, Pansy. The horticulturalists at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, just outside of London, describe the Pansy flower as a symbol for “humanism.”
That’s not a description Jean-Baptiste would recognize in the Pansy she plays in the movie.
She smiles as she relates how the character she and Leigh created after intense discussion and rehearsal “as a combination of five different women, all of whom had the milk of human kindness removed from them.”
That’s a perfect summation of Pansy, a fastidious woman, who keeps the North London house she shares with her plumber husband Curtley (David Webber) and Moses (Tuwaine Barrett) as their unmotivated son, spotlessly clean.
She’s particularly fixated on polishing her leather couch.

There really is another level of star power when a film adds both George Clooney and Brad Pitt to the equation.
While the big premieres at the 2024 Venice Film Festival so far have had some wiggle room between the film’s listed start time, and when the movie actually begins playing, the “Wolfs” premiere was a whole half hour late to even letting people into the Sala Grande. The Saturday premiere was such a hot ticket that stars like Benedict Cumberbatch, Harris Dickinson, Cailee Spaeny, and Alia Shawkat were all present to support the Apple release, which also stars Austin Abrams and Amy Ryan.
As the credits rolled after midnight, the audience may have lost their energy, leading to an applause afterwards that would not break any records, but the whole event still illuminated how when Clooney and Pitt choose to collaborate, a large audience follows. A point that has...

Continuing their 23-year onscreen collaboration, George Clooney and Brad Pitt brought their latest co-starring venture to the Venice Film Festival today as Wolfs world premiered out of competition. The official screening was greeted with a five-minute, 35-second ovation Sunday inside the Sala Grande.
The duo danced to Sade’s ‘Smooth Operator’ as the credits rolled and they greeted fans on the way out, during which they also received congratulations from Cate Blanchett and Benedict Cumberbatch in the audience.
Also in attendance were cast members Amy Ryan and Austin Abrams. A no-show, however, was writer-director Jon Watts who, Clooney told the press this morning, is sick with Covid, “He flew all the way here and he got Covid and he’s now in bed.”

The worst part of watching a new binge-worthy series is figuring out what to watch next. Especially when there’s only one season.
Netflix’s addictive teen mystery series “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” debuted in the top ranks of the streaming charts in August and has held steady for weeks, but Netflix has yet to announce a second season. Which means a whole lot of folks have tuned in and might be looking for another great mystery series. Not to worry, we’ve got a curated list of shows like “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” to watch while you wait for that Season 2 renewal.
“Veronica Mars” (Warner Bros. Television) “Veronica Mars”
“Veronica Mars” is the undisputed Goat of teen detective shows. In her breakout role, Kristen Bell plays the title sleuth, daughter of former sheriff turned private investigator — and one of TV’s all-time great dads, Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni). Witty,...

Spider-Man: No Way Home was full of unforgettable moments, but the official MCU debut of Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock surely ranks alongside Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's respective returns.
While we only saw Cox as Matt (leaving us to continue waiting for the day Daredevil finally crosses paths with Spider-Man), the scene was made even more special by the actor sharing the screen with Jon Favreau.
While he's now best known for playing Happy Hogan and directing Iron Man, Favreau was the Foggy Nelson to Ben Affleck's Man Without Fear in 2003's ill-fated Daredevil.
Talking at the Tampa Bay Comic Con recently, Cox said, "In Spider-Man I got to do a scene with Jon Favreau, who I love. He also plays Foggy in that film [Daredevil 2003]. I'm not sure if it made it into the movie in the end, but we tried to get a pun in,...
