- Hart left the group in 1983, and later moved to the Canary Islands, where he became a writer and photographer. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2008, and died on December 24, 2009.
- Hart came up with the name "Steeleye Span" -- the name of a character in a Lincolnshire folk song entitled "Horkstow Grange".
- A British folk-rock group formed in 1971. Ashley Hutchings, eager to explore traditional British folk music, created the group after leaving the Fairport Convention.The original members were Tim Hart, Ashley Hutchings, Maddy Prior, and Gay & Terry Woods. Hart and Prior had previously performed and recorded together as a folk duo from 1966-1969.
