Amaré Becker-Wheatley (pronouns: they/them/theirs) works across an array of mediums spanning installation, film/video, and sculpture, and drawing. After years working on industrial film sets, they imagine a film industry where the end does not justify the means, where process and safety are more important than profit, where the crew is valued, production assistants are protected, catering ingredients are sourced locally by regenerative farmers who aren't paid by the piece, and neighborhoods are involved and respected when productions film on location. Amaré is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees Local 487 living in the Chesapeake Bay watershed on the occupied sovereign land of the Piscataway Conoy Tribe. Additionally, Amaré is a part-time film instructor working with high school students and young adults in both public school systems and independently run workshops. They are an avid reader and thank all the humans out there who write.
