Trying to be civil and objective...this movie sucks big time. The story is pretty lame; a young newlywed couple Carl and Molly Peterson(Matt Dillon and Kate Hudson)barely start their new life together when out-of-work, obnoxious friend of Carl's, Dupree(Owen Wilson)becomes a house guest...and a big pain in the butt. Carl is having his problems being undermined and humiliated by his boss and new father-in-law(Michael Douglas). Dupree puts pressure on Carl for not wanting to be the carefree and fun friend he was before getting married. Molly is putting pressure on her husband for working too hard and not spending enough time at home. Situations that I'm sure was meant to be funny just came across stupid. Wilson fans will absolutely be pleased. Myself, I just don't see the appeal. The only thing I found good about this movie was Miss Hudson; but it seems she had little chance to save the film.
