An American Western; A story about a gunslinger who tracks down his father's killer but is unable to exact his revenge because the sheriff of the town makes a point of confiscating all firearms. A shooting competition to win a superb rifle ensues. This is a film as gleaming with imagery as the rifle itself. It has a realistic edge, and the story has good pacing and steady tension right the way through. There are some blanks, such as the casting of Will Greer as Wyatt Earp; the portrayal of native Americans is clichéd and dated. All in all, it is a film about a complex man full of revenge.
