Hobson's Choice is a somewhat endearing and sometimes humorous, lightweight film.
Pretty sweet gig Henry had, his daughters running the business and taking care of everything around the house, while he went to the pub. Should of kept his mouth shut. Laughton provides most of the humour, Mills adds a smidgen. I understand Maggie wanting to be there for her ailing father and to have a stake back in the family business, which will eventually be hers anyway, but I couldn't get a read on her throughout the film. All the other characters, including the sisters were underwritten.
