Simpsons fans are currently mourning the imminent loss of the popular mobile game The Simpsons: Tapped Out, following the news that EA will wipe everyone’s pocket-sized Springfields from existence early next year. In retrospect, Tapped Out may have been the most consistently popular of all Simpsons games, engaging fans for over a decade, and raking in over $100 million thanks to its controversial “freemium” format, but it was hardly the first video game to feature America’s favorite cartoon family.
Back in 1991, just two years after the series premiered, the Simpsons made the leap to the world of gaming, in the form of a beat-‘em-up arcade game simply called The Simpsons. It was way more fun than Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge.

The beloved Fox police procedural drama, Bones, captivated mystery and crime series lovers for 12 seasons, running from 2005 to 2017. Following a brilliant forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan and her charismatic partner, FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth, the show skillfully intertwined complex criminal cases with rich character-driven narratives.

Viewers were drawn not only to the intricate investigations but also by the evolving personal lives and relationships of the main characters. Though the series ended six years ago, with the characters’ stories wrapping up on a satisfying note, it’s intriguing to explore what the actors have been up to since leaving the Jeffersonian.

Jeff Goldblum, 25, has forgotten his mantra. At least, his nameless party guest character – dubbed “Man on the Phone” in the screenplay – has. And it’s the way he delivered that line in 1977’s Annie Hall that made him stand out despite only having a few seconds of screen time. Somehow – just by being himself – Jeff Goldblum turned a throwaway bit into one of the funniest lines in one of the funniest films.
As for Jeff Goldblum himself, he says his mantras are “I am grateful” and “Accept, enjoy, enthuse.” And that, across 50 years on the big screen, is as truthful as it gets when it comes to Jeff Goldblum.
Let’s find out: What Happened to…Jeff Goldblum?

After serving the gaming enthusiasts of the Simpsons fandom faithfully for over a decade, Electronic Arts announced today that they will shut down the popular mobile game The Simpsons: Tapped Out and de-list it from the Android and Apple app stores on October 31st. It’s like an especially lame “Treehouse of Horror” plot line come to life.
The lifespan of The Simpsons: Tapped Out will invariably go down as a success in the history of branded, cash-in, freemium mobile games. Launched in early 2012, The Simpsons: Tapped Out took the setting, the color palette and the playful wit of Fox’s longest-running animated comedy and wrapped it up in a city-building mobile game in which players built and maintained their own vision of Springfield like a bunch of iPhone-wielding Joe Quimbys. The city-building genre of mobile games is — and was — a crowded category, but, with its built-in fanbase, its regular...

Al Ewing's "Immortal Thor" is one of Marvel Comics' best ongoing series. A spiritual sequel to Ewing's earlier "Immortal Hulk," the book has a satirical bent; this Thor will even swing his hammer at Marvel's own worst habits.
The upcoming 16th issue looks to reintroduce one of Thor's oldest villains: Radioactive Man. Not the comic book hero from "The Simpsons," but Chen Lu, whose skin glows green. Debuting in Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's "Journey into Mystery" #93, Lu was a Chinese scientist who incrementally exposed himself to radiation. Instead of poisoning him, however, the experiment gave him the ability to absorb, emit, and manipulate forms of radiation.
Radioactive Man combines two repeating motifs of early Marvel superhero comics: radioactivity as the key to gaining superpowers and communist villains. Marvel's superheroes are products of the Cold War and, according to Stan Lee, even the Norse Gods would be...

It’s easy to get down about the state of modern music when browsing TikTok. In an age when cracking the algorithm is more important than rhythm and melody, there’s a depressing sameness to the types of songs that get stitched and repeated ad nauseam on the way to hit status. No more streaming “The Simpsons” on someone else’s dime, freeloaders: The password sharing crackdown has officially come to Disney+.
Disney has unveiled the pricing details and specifics of its “Paid Sharing” rollout, the industry-friendly term for preventing multiple households from using the same streaming login. Netflix was the first to crack down, and CEO Bob Iger recently said that if Disney wanted any chance of catching Netflix at streaming, it would need to do the same.
At first glance, like the literal title of the program, its rules and logistics are pretty similar to what Netflix users had to deal with over a year ago. Anyone attempting to use a login not automatically detected to be in the same user household will be blocked from doing so. The former borrower will then be prompted to either have the authorized account holder add them as an “extra member,” or start paying for Disney+ themselves.

The Big Bang Theory might’ve been all laughs and geeky banter, but there’s one storyline involving Penny that took things way too far—like, deserved jail time far. Yeah, we’re talking about That dark twist in the middle of all the quirky fun. The writers somehow managed to slip it under the radar, blending it into the show’s light-hearted vibes, but looking back, it’s hard not to cringe.

While the show’s iconic for its nerd culture humor, this plotline sticks out like a sore thumb, leaving us wondering how they got away with it. Let’s dive into why this moment crossed the line and why Penny’s story deserved way more scrutiny.

Children of the 1980s understand how deeply weird it is that Donald Trump is now considered a politician. 40 years ago, Trump was a clownish pop culture figure more than anything. He was often described as a real estate mogul in the press, but he was more often parodied on sitcoms and in comic strips as the world's worst millionaire, a caricature of a pseudo-celebrity, and the central symbol of Ronald Reagan's aggressively wicked yuppie class. He was a whimsical punchline more than he was a respected businessman and his financial failures were just as notorious as his successes. I personally recall a joke from Mad Magazine that said Trump was working on a book about his personal success ... but that he was stuck on Chapter 11.
Trump served as the template for multiple villains in other media, including Gordon Gekko from "Wall Street," C. Montgomery Burns from "The Simpsons," King Koopa in "Super Mario Bros,...

Movie parodies are obviously a huge part of what makes The Simpsons tick, whether it’s subtle nods to cinematic classics, or more obvious homages to mainstream pop-culture staples. But for those fans who grew up watching the show, viewing the parodies often preceded seeing the actual movies being parodied.

The Simpsons has long been a staple of television and pop culture, influencing everything from animation to commercial partnerships. Yet, no episode or collaboration compares to the challenge the show’s team faced while working with the French luxury fashion house, Balenciaga.

Some of the best pieces of art and content take reference from real life. However, sometimes, the bizarre occurs, and fans end up finding references to future events in various movies and TV shows. While franchises such as The Simpsons have often been accused of predicting real-life events, something similar happening with respect to the MCU is more unlikely, due to obvious reasons.

Ordinarily, a spoiler warning like the one above shouldn’t be necessary for a show like Matlock, a reboot of the Andy Griffith legal drama, which ran for close to a decade in the Eighties and Nineties. If you’re old enough, you might have seen the Griffith version, in which he played attorney Ben Matlock, whose old age and folksy demeanor left his opponents unprepared for his brilliant legal tactics.

At one point during the making of the iconic two-part Simpsons episode “Who Shot Mr. Burns?,” the show’s writers considered giving viewers in the Eastern and Pacific time zones two different answers to the titular question — because if there’s anything the mid-1990s was missing, it was a pop-culture war between the East Coast and the West Coast.
In May 1995, The Simpsons closed out Season Six with a cliff-hanger finale episode that featured the entire town of Springfield turning on their oldest and most evil robber baron. In the first half of “Who Shot Mr. Burns?,” the victim steals an oil reserve literally out from under the elementary school before constructing a giant metal disc that blocks out the sun from shining on the town, dooming them to an even more desperate dependence on his power plant.

For more than 25 years now, "Family Guy" has been an absolute staple of the television landscape. While it may have once been viewed as a lesser competitor that was living in the shadow of shows like "The Simpsons" and "South Park," it has now firmly earned its place as one of the greatest, longest-running adult animated comedies in history. Much like "Futurama," it also managed to survive being canceled multiple times. Set MacFarlane's wack Rhode Island family known as the Griffins has achieved pop cultural immortality.
But what are the very best episodes of "Family Guy" 25 years in? At this point, that's a tough question to answer given that we're sitting at more than 400 episodes, and MacFarlane has no plans to end the show any time soon. A simpler (albeit still difficult) question is to look at the show's classic era and determine the best episodes from the show's early run.

One of the most inadvertently problematic episodes of The Simpsons found Homer reluctantly taking his family on a trip to New York City, purely in order to recover his car, which Barney abandoned at the bottom of the World Trade Center. Because of the Twin Towers’ prominent role in the story, “The City of New York vs Homer Simpson” was temporarily pulled from syndication in the wake of the September 11th attacks, thus costing the crab juice industry millions of dollars-worth of free advertising.
While Homer may have hated New York with a fiery passion (owing to a bad experience he had as a teenager) that sentiment clearly wasn’t shared by the Simpsons’ staff, who went to great efforts to recreate Manhattan’s urban landscape in cartoon form — from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, to the Statue of Liberty, to Mad Magazine’s head office, which we assume looked...

Whether they know it or not, statistically everyone who saw a film released in 2022 knows the work of Bashir Salahuddin — or, as he was known in the year’s #2 movie Top Gun: Maverick, Navy Warrant Officer Bernie “Hondo” Coleman. But comedy fans have been steeping in Salahuddin’s career for a decade. He was a writer and sometime performer on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon before his acting career took off with roles like Malik in HBO’s dramedy Looking, Netflix’s prematurely canceled Glow and the scripted true-crime series The Dropout, among many others.
You may also know Salahuddin as the headliner of his own shows: with Diallo Riddle, Salahuddin co-created the Soul Train spoof Sherman’s Showcase, in which he played the titular variety show host Sherman McDaniel; and South Side, a Max import from Comedy Central that depicts the eponymous Chicago neighborhood — of which Salahuddin is a...

Exclusive: Writer Nell Scovell (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) and former NBCUniversal content chief Susan Rovner are developing the new series The Fishbowl with CBS Studios for CBS, sources tell Deadline.
The drama is a procedural about a brilliant medical examiner overseeing a private room at the Manhattan morgue that investigates New York City’s weirdest deaths, we hear.
Scovell created the series and will executive produce with Susan Rovner through her newly minted Aha Studios banner. CBS Studios is producing.
The Fishbowl marks Scovell’s second procedural pilot for CBS. The first, Without a Clue, starred Gary Cole, Busy Phillips and Marisa Coughlan, but did not move forward to series. She also worked as a consulting producer on NCIS. Scovell is a WGA-nominated writer who is best known as the creator and showrunner of ABC’s Sabrina the Teenage Witch and has written for David Letterman, The Simpsons, Charmed and The Muppets.

Even if you’re not a Halloween person, October means spooky season. It feels like every brand, store, — and yes, every streamer, finds ways to incorporate themes of haunting and horror. Disney+ started early, with the September premiere of “Agatha All Along,” which will air new episodes for the next several weeks. In October, the streamer will debut “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” an expansion of the popular Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place” which aired from 2007 to 2012.
And of course Hulu has “Huluween,” a celebration of the scariest titles either premiering on the streamer for the first time or simply highlighted from its existing library. That includes films like “Late Night with the Devil,” the series “Reginald the Vampire,” FX’s “American Horror Stories”, a Halloween specials from “Family Guy” and “Solar Opposites,” a docuseries on witch hunting, and much more.

Say what you will about the Marvel Cinematic Universe's foray into television on Disney+, but you can't deny that the company knows how to craft a credit sequence. AI-fueled "Secret Invasion" screw-up aside, Marvel shows on Disney+ have signed off with some of the most creative, enjoyable end credits in recent memory, many of them a mini-adventure in their own right.
"Agatha All Along" is no exception. The new series may not be big on mid-credit scenes, but it uses its end credits to tell us exactly what it's about. The first episode ends with the Donovan song "Season of the Witch," which would be too on the nose if it weren't such an excellent, effective tune. It also shows the names of the series' cast and crew over a sort of witchy mood board, one that features witches ranging from creepy to adorable. King of the Hill star and Strickland Propane salesman Hank Hill’s most firmly held food belief is that, when hosting a barbecue, the grill master must use a clean-burning fuel so that his guests can “taste the meat, not the heat.” Once Hank learns about this grill gaffe, the animation department is going to tase his boot in their ass.
The many advertised advantages of propane over other grill fuels are basically the Ten Commandments on King of the Hill — the holy gas does not alter or mask the flavors of the meat and its seasoning, it has exceptional ease of use and it doesn’t leave soot under Bobby’s fingernails like that filthy devil rock that Luanne so thoughtlessly introduced to the Hill house. And, most importantly, exclusively grilling with the clean-burning gas prevents the other members of the Hill family from invoking the wrath of the...

How do you make a King Lear? Put the queen in a bikini!
This incredibly crafted joke was not, in fact, written by William Shakespeare himself — it’s a quip that Krusty the Klown cracked in The Simpsons Season 11 episode, “Guess Who’s Coming to Criticize Dinner?” shortly before the tough crowd roundly booed The Bard.
While the brainiac, bookish, Harvard-educated nerds of The Simpsons’ writing staff have made numerous references to and jokes about the works of Shakespeare over the course of the show’s 35 seasons and counting, it’s fair to say that the citizens of Springfield aren’t the world’s biggest admirers of the most famous dramatist in history — nor are some Simpsons fans, apparently.
Right now, various Twitter fandoms are clashing over the definition of the phrase “locked in,” with stans of every singer, sports star, religious movement, actor, military power or TV show...

In its nearly 35 years on the air, The Simpsons has hit so close to home so many times that even the show’s writers can’t help but feel that Reverend Lovejoy’s model train passengers can see a sad man on the other side of the screen as well.
When Matt Groening originally designed the first family of Fox animation back in the late 1980s, he based Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson on his own family growing up, as shown in the characters’ names — Homer and Margaret were the Christian names of Groening’s father and mother, and Lisa and Maggie are his two younger sisters. Groening settled on calling the hell-raising oldest son “Bart” because it was an anagram of the word “brat,” and because it would be a little too self-involved for the Simpsons creator to name the coolest character after himself.

From the streets of Gotham to the boulevards of Hollywood, Batman has made a lasting mark on pop culture over the past 85 years – so much so that the character will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, making him the first superhero to receive the dedication and one of an exclusive group of fictional characters.
Appropriately enough, Batman will find his Hollywood Walk of Fame star placed between co-creator Bob Kane and famed portrayer Adam West. While guests have yet to be confirmed for the September 26th ceremony, it would be incredible if the likes of Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, and more turned up for the event. Sadly, West died in 2017 while voice talent Kevin Conroy passed away in 2022.

"The Simpsons" has had hundreds of celebrity guest stars over the decades, and comedian/podcaster Marc Maron joined their ranks in season 30. "The Clown Stays in the Picture" is a Krusty the Clown-centric episode that uses "Wtf With Marc Maron" as its framing device. Krusty's telling Maron the story of a troubled movie production from his younger days, although it's clear from the start that all the trouble was coming from Krusty himself.
The episode admittedly feels like an extended commercial for Maron's podcast, although it's not necessarily a bad commercial. It's fun to watch the (mostly normal) Maron attempt to get a decent interview out of the rude, washed-up Krusty. It also feels fitting that Lisa would be the one excitedly listening to the interview on the bus ride to school, and that Bart would steal one of her earbuds and gross her out by getting his earwax all over it.

As of September 2024, "South Park" has aired 328 episodes over 26 seasons. Not all of these episodes are winners, but there've been enough classics to make it seem wild for anyone to think they could narrow it down to just a top 10. Nevertheless, I'm going to try, and all I ask is that you show me some grace when I inevitably exclude some of your favorites.
For full disclosure, I should confess that I am a big fan of Butters, Tweek, and pre-Tegridy Farms Randy, so don't be surprised if they seem a little over-represented. I prefer the episodes where Cartman suffers or is punished for his lifetime of horrendous behavior. In other words, "With Apologies to Jesse Jackson" is getting snubbed here,...

George Lucas has already contributed so much to pop culture, from Star Wars, to Indiana Jones, to the somewhat less successful Radioland Murders Cinematic Universe. And just when you thought that he couldn’t be any more responsible for your childhood, it turns out that Lucas inadvertently led to the creation of another beloved franchise about a father who routinely attacks his son: The Simpsons.
When Simpsons creator Matt Groening was first tapped by producer James L. Brooks to come up with animated segments for The Tracey Ullman Show, he planned on simply adapting his popular Life in Hell comic strip. So what happened?

If Emmy voters are known for one thing, it’s picking a show they like and sticking to it. Every year, the same shows with past history often clutter the nominations list, and the frontrunner from one year is quite likely to remain the frontrunner for the next. While this year’s Emmy race, with its lack of many old nominees to choose from, is expected to look much, much different than usual, most years you can bet on past favorites staying current favorites.
The result of all this repeating is that shows tend to rack up wins very quickly, or go on prolonged streaks in the same categories that sends their win counts through the roof. Donald Trump‘s baseless claims that immigrants are eating people’s cats and dogs in Springfield, Ohio, has caused quite a stir online, and now The Simpsons’ star Hank Azaria has jumped into the action. The meme-worthy comments stemmed from the former president’s debate against Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday, September 10, where Trump said, “In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs, the people that came in. They’re eating the cats. They’re eating the pets of the people that live there. This is what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame.” These unfounded claims quickly went viral online, with many people creating jokes and memes from Trump’s comments. In particular, people shared clips and images from The Simpsons, which is set in the fictional town of Springfield. “In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs. If you're a fan of the long-running crime procedural "Bones" — which kicked off in 2005 and concluded in 2017, spanning 12 seasons and 246 episodes — then you're definitely familiar with its core cast, who play a mix of scientists and cops trying to solve cases using forensics and, well, a whole lot of bones.
Based on the book series by real-life forensics expert Kathy Reichs and led by Emily Deschanel as the titular "Bones" — or, more accurately, forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan, who bears the on-the-nose nickname "Bones" — the show centers around the fictional Jeffersonian Institute Medico-Legal Lab, which collaborates with the FBI to solve cases based on sparse human remains in Washington D.C. So what happened to the core cast of "Bones" since the show ended in the late 2010s, and what projects have they undertaken since playing police officers and scientific experts?

In an alternate TV universe, Fox is the home of The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park and a couple unsightly skid marks.
Long before Trey Parker and Matt Stone were the co-heads of a billion-dollar multimedia franchise and the co-owners of the almost-as-expensive Casa Bonita, the pair were the writers, producers, animators and stars of two of the earliest viral videos in comedy history. While attending the University of Colorado in 1992, the pair created an animated short film called The Spirit of Christmas featuring a group of schoolboys who bring Frosty the Snowman to life, only for the iconic animated character to turn homicidal.
Three years later, Fox executive Brian Graden would stumble upon the original The Spirit of Christmas video and commission the Colorado duo to create a second festive short film, this time featuring a bitter feud between Santa Claus and Jesus Christ. Upon the success of the second sketch,...

Disney wants to crank up Disney+ subscriber numbers ahead of the end of its September 2024 quarter — and before a new price increase takes effect.
In a new promo launching Thursday, new and returning customers in the U.S. can sign up for the ad-supported Disney+ Basic plan for $1.99/month for the first three months. The new offer comes as the price of Disney+ Basic is set to increase from $7.99 to $9.99/month, effective Oct. 17, along with the prices of Disney+ Premium, Hulu, ESPN+ and its multiservice bundles. Disney is offering the special deal to eligible customers from Sept. 12-27 at disneyplus.com; after the promotional period ends, the price of Disney+ Basic will be $9.99/month.
Disney touts the $2/month deal for Disney+ Basic as coming “just in time for a blockbuster fall,” including the premiere of Pixar’s “Inside Out 2,” the highest-grossing animated movie of all time, which is set to premiere Sept.
