In the show, his stalker, Martha (Jessica Gunning), sends Donny over 41,000 emails, 744 tweets, 100 pages of letters and 350 hours of voicemails. Audiences watched in horror as she sexually assaulted him, derailed his relationships and threatened his family. Eventually, she is jailed.

When Jamie Kenna got off the phone with his agent following an audition for season two of House of the Dragon, he was devastated. He hadn’t booked the role.
Ser Alfred Broome, who serves as a knight on Queen Rhaenyra’s black council – and, as the British actor describes, is a “Targaryen by employment” – had escaped him. “I was absolutely gutted because I really, desperately wanted it. I thought the audition had gone well,” Kenna tells The Hollywood Reporter.
But three weeks later, casting directors for HBO’s hit Game of Thrones prequel changed their minds. A week after that, Kenna was in costume and on set, surrounded by fellow castmembers Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith and Eve Best. Having initially lost out, he came to understand that this was the role of a lifetime.

Channel 4 has ordered an independent investigation into the death of a producer who took his own life after working on the UK broadcaster’s true crime series In the Footsteps of Killers, Deadline can reveal.

Where does the time go? It feels like only yesterday that Taskmaster’s series 17 contestants first appeared in the studio, shakily establishing their pecking order, testing out their rudeness vs sucking-up strategy when it came to Lord Greg Davies, and shifting nervously in their seats as they wondered which of their psychological breakdowns had made the edit. Now, they’ve all grown-up and left home, leaving five empty chairs waiting for the next set of bums to warm them.
Those bums, and the comedians attached to them, have now been officially announced. Competing for the head of the Taskmaster in series 18 will be: Andy Zaltzman, Babatunde Aléshé, Emma Sidi, Jack Dee and Rosie Jones.
Here’s a little bit of info about each of them.

Exclusive: “Quite a can of worms,” observed a British casting director of a scandal that, until February, was unknown to his profession. The 30-year industry veteran was talking about the practice of agents sending clients fake invitations to record self-tape auditions.
Deadline first exposed the issue in an investigation on Bodhi Talent, a boutique agency based in Manchester. Founder Archie Purnell was accused of copying legitimate self-tape invites and pasting them in emails to clients who had not been called to audition. One actor rumbled the ruse when an audition landed in her inbox 30 minutes after the deadline for submissions had passed.
Twisting open the Bodhi-shaped Russian doll revealed similar concerns about a larger agency: International Artists Management (Iam). The London-based company claims to have 400 clients on its books and is run by Luc Chaudhary, a reported millionaire once engaged to Silent Witness star Emilia Fox.

BBC Studios has initiated a search for a replacement, with Lee saying “the right time to explore other opportunities.”
Lee joined BBC Studios as Director of Content in 2018 and was made CEO of BBC Studios Productions in 2022, when the BBC pooled its Scripted, Factual, Global Entertainment and Kids & Family divisions into one single production hub.
Former Channel 4 Deputy Chief Creative Officer Lee has overseen production on returning and continuing titles such as Strictly Come Dancing, Happy Valley 3, EastEnders, Doctor Who, Prehistoric Planet, Good Omens, The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, Planet Earth III, The Coronation of King Charles III, Silent Witness and Black Ops – and original podcast series such as Vishal and Believe in Magic.

Ralph Lee, BBC Studios Productions’ CEO, will be leaving the BBC’s commercial arm in April after almost six years to pursue a new challenge outside the organization.
Since being appointed director of content in 2018, “Lee has guided BBC Studios Productions to unrivaled creative recognition – winning 111 awards and 400 nominations in the ’22/’23 financial year alone – and becoming the most awarded production group at the BAFTA and Rts Awards,” BBC Studios said on Thursday.
BBC Studios has initiated a search for Lee’s successor.
“Ralph’s leadership has been a game-changer for our production business, taking BBC Studios to creative and award-winning heights in every genre, both domestically and internationally,” said BBC Studios CEO Tom Fussell. “His calm stewardship through and out of the Covid pandemic was invaluable, and he’s attracted outstanding talent like Kate Ward, Rich Knight and Cecilia Persson to our organization, whilst overseeing global expansion and growth among our production units,...

British actor Laurence Fox has lost a libel case with two men he called pedophiles on social media after they had called the My Son Hunter star a racist.
On Monday, the High Court in the U.K. deemed that Fox had defamed Simon Blake, a former LGBT charity trustee, and Crystal, a drag artist and former RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant, on Twitter/X in October 2020, when he called them pedophiles over an escalating row over Black History Month.
The Guardian reports that the spat on X started, when Fox said he would boycott U.K. grocery store Sainsbury’s for supporting “racial segregation and discrimination” after the company said it would establish safe spaces for Black employees during Black History Month in October 2020. Blake and Crystal, whose real name is Colin Seymour, responded to Fox’s call for a boycott by calling him racist. Fox, in turn, replied...

ITV’s decision to kick Love Island: All Stars into its main channel schedule failed to reap rewards, with just 1M tuning in to the opener last night on ITV 1 and a further 500,000 on ITV 2.
A share of less than 12% of overall viewers watched the new spin-off, which is seeing the return of Love Island favorites from down the years including Liberty Poole, Georgia Steel and Chris Taylor, who recently starred in Barbie.
As with previous winter editions, All Stars is hosted in South Africa. Even though last year’s winter edition started on ITV 2, it was only 100,000 viewers behind last night’s showing across both channels. The previous Love Island summer kicked off on ITV 2 to 1.3M in June, according to Barb data supplied by overnights.tv.

European TV powerhouses Zdf Studios and France TV Distribution are partnering as producers on Berlin-based Boogie Entertainment’s new crime drama “Blood Red Thread.”
Set in the “glamorous and cutthroat” world of fashion, the six-part series – also described as “stylish, witty and outrageous” – will expose various challenges the industry is facing, all the while following businessmen who rule the boardroom and clash with “divas of design,” both battling for power.
Filming will take place in the U.K., France and Germany, with delivery scheduled for August 2025.
“We set out to try and describe a fashion world that felt real, that explored what fashion does in society. It holds up a mirror to our vanities and insecurities, it reflects our need for reinvention, our hope to be desirable and current,” showrunner and lead writer Timothy Prager explained to Variety.

Anya Chalotra of The Witcher, Chloe Cherry of Euphoria, and Ralph Ineson of The Witch star in the dark comedy Two Neighbors, which was able to secure a SAG interim agreement to film while the actors strike was still going on and wrapped production back in September. Although the story is set in New York, filming took place in the UK.
Marking the feature directorial debut of “multi-disciplinary artist” Ondine Viñao, who has exhibited video projects in the US and abroad, Two Neighbors was inspired by Aesop’s fable Avaricious and Envious. This take on the story shows what happens when Becky (Chalotra), an ambitious but struggling writer, is overcome by envy and spite when she meets Stacy (Cherry), a beautiful but insatiable socialite, at a lavish party hosted by Stacy’s father at their country estate. The evening descends slowly into chaos, and the girls’ lives are forever transformed...

Exclusive: The BBC is developing Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight’s drama based in a Birmingham university, with a view to potentially turning it into a returnable series.
The as-yet-untitled project, which follows the lives of a group of young people at one of the country’s second-largest city’s five universities, is being produced out of Knight’s new multimillion pound Digbeth Loc. In 2014 and 2015, Vertigo published Si Spencer’s eight-issue graphic novel Bodies, a mind-bending mystery about four police officers from different historical eras who discover the same corpse in the same London location, decades apart. Featuring detectives from the present day, the 1940s, the 1890s and 2053, it’s a complex conspiracy thriller about a very dark future. Originally illustrated by four artists – Dean Ormston, Phil Winslade, Meghan Hetrick and Tula Lotay – each era had its own distinct feel and look.
Spencer, who had also written on other Vertigo titles including Judge Dredd and Books of Magick: Life During Wartime, sadly passed away in February 2021, meaning he wasn’t able to see Paul Tomalin’s eight-part Netflix series adapted from his work. It’s out now, with a sprawling cast of characters including Boiling Point and This Is England’s Stephen Graham, several established actors and a handful of newcomers. Here’s more about them.

Global production and distribution powerhouse Fremantle has revealed a strategic alliance at the Venice Film Festival with Israeli-based Ibi Investment House, which involves the launch of a 150 million euro ($163 million) fund to bankroll a portfolio of premium scripted TV and film projects.
Under the deal, which will last four years, Fremantle will bring a diverse range of projects from its network of studio companies to the Ibi fund, fast-tracking the production of each title. The partners say the projects will also benefit from the creative oversight of Fremantle’s global drama team, led by its CEO Christian Vesper, who will work with the fund throughout the lifecycle of each production. All TV projects approved through the fund will be distributed by Fremantle International.
“At Fremantle, we are always focused on innovation and this alliance with Ibi is a perfect example of this ethos and approach,” said Fremantle Group CEO Jennifer Mullin.

The BBC has greenlit its latest drama series from Happy Valley creator Sally Wainwright along with projects created by and starring the likes of Jenna Coleman, Nicôle Lecky and Sacha Dhawan.
Set in Happy Valley home Hebden Bridge, Wainwright’s Hot Flush centers on the lives of five women of a certain age who come together to create a makeshift, butt-of-the-joke punk-rock band in order to enter a talent contest. When they rehearse together, they suddenly discover that they have a lot more to say than they ever imagined, and they have found the way to say it.
Wainwright had previously cryptically teased Hot Flush when she told the BBC’s Today program she had been learning the drums in preparation for her next project, and she described it as a “celebration of women of a certain age and all the life-stuff they suddenly find themselves negotiating/dealing with.”

How do you come to terms with being pulled between the past and the present?
That's what Tom Hiddleston's Loki has to consider in the official trailer for Loki Season 2, premiering October 6 on Disney+.
"I'm being pulled through time, between the past and the present," the MCU veteran says.
"If what I saw is true, there's nothing that stands between this world and utter destruction."
The MCU has utilized the multiverse in the past, so there's a good chance we'll revisit that on Loki Season 2, assuming the world Loki and his friends live in isn't salvageable.
The trailer seemingly hints at Loki going up against He Who Remains (played by Jonathan Majors) and several other villains to protect the integrity of the timeline.
Sophia Di Martino is also back as Sylvie, alongside Owen Wilson (as Mobius), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Renslayer), Wunmi Mosaku (Hunter B-15), Neil Ellice (Hunter D-90), Eugene Cordero...

Why do we find murder mysteries so uniquely relaxing? This is one of the age-old questions about human nature, up there with ‘what is consciousness?’ and ‘why do we keep eating mouldy cheese and fish eggs like it’s a good thing?’ Because, despite the grief and blood and mountains of paperwork that a gruesome murder causes, we simply can’t get enough of curling up on the sofa with a mug of tea and a cosy crime drama to keep us blissfully entertained all the way through to bedtime.
This isn’t a new thing, either: while modern series like Death in Paradise and Shakespeare and Hathaway are the current champions of cosy crime TV, back in the eighties and nineties classics like Murder She Wrote and Hetty Wainthropp Investigates taught us how it’s done. So whether you’re after the latest in the cosy crime genre or some more nostalgic viewing,...
