Given the fact that Anderson Ballesteros did a great job portraying a tough hitman with street knowledge, all the roles he got later were pretty much the same, for example, playing as Pablo Escobar's main hitman on "El Patrón del Mal"
The book the movie was based on (it has the same title) is set in the late 80s Colombia, where Pablo Escobar was still a very powerful and feared drug lord and very much of the situations portrayed have Escobar somehow referenced while the movie takes action in the early 2000s, creating several anachronisms. Script writers had to do some changes in order to adapt the book better, and Escobar's power and influence was only implied in one scene, where he's now part of Colombia's history.
