Charlie Robinson, a prolific actor who played the clerk on Night Court for most of the NBC sitcom’s run and before that was a regular on its lauded series Buffalo Bill, died Sunday of cancer complications at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 75.
His manager, Lisa Disante, told Deadline that Robinson died of cardiac arrest with multisystem organ failures due to septic shock, and metastatic adenocarcinoma.
Robinson racked up more than 125 TV and film credits — including an impressive five series-regular roles — during a half-century career that stretched into 2021. He got his start guesting on such 1970s-80s series as Cannon, The White Shadow, Lou Grant, St. Elsewhere and Hill Street Blues and the sequel miniseries Roots: The Next Generation. His first recurring role was on the short-lived NBC primetime soap Flamingo Road.

New York, March 6 (Ians) Fine particles in wildfire smoke can be several times more harmful to human respiratory health than particulate matter from other sources such as car exhaust, say researchers.
While this distinction has been previously identified in laboratory experiments, the new study, published in the journal Nature Communications, confirms it at the population level.
This study reveals the risks of tiny airborne particles with diameters of up to 2.5 microns, about one-twentieth that of a human hair.
These particles -- termed PM2.5 -- are the main component of wildfire smoke and can penetrate the human respiratory tract, enter the bloodstream and impair vital organs.
"There is a daily threshold for the amount of PM2.5 in the air that is considered acceptable by the county and the Environmental Protection Agency (Epa)," said researcher Rosana Aguilera from University of California - San Diego.

"No one's ever lived to tell the tale." Scary! You never know what could be waiting out there for you if you breakdown in the middle of nowhere. Hazard is a supernatural horror short film, now available to watch online after premiering at festivals last year. The short was directed by Emmy award winner Gairo Cuevas, based in the Bay Area, who currently works at Pixar Animation Studios as a cinematographer / editor for all the making-of videos. Hazard stars Joanna Kay as Jane, and Adrian Deane as her friend on the phone. Jane's car breaks down in the outskirts of a small-town, and while she waits for her friend, she dares her to try conjuring a local ghost. Don't try this at home. Featuring music by Sylvain Carton & Mouzhan Yousefi. This is an incredibly frightening little short film, just the right kind of horror to give you a genuine scare.

Maria Hill Gets A Standoff O
When last we saw The Avengers, several of their branches – The All New, All Different; the New; the Uncanny; and for all I know Steed and Mrs. Peel – were standing off against S.H.I.E.L.D. because of Pleasant Hill. As it’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve been able to write about Avengers: Standoff!, I thought a quick recap might be in order.
S.H.I.E.L.D. and its director Maria Hill got a hold of some fragments of a Cosmic Cube, a device which is controlled by the will of its holder and can reshape reality. It’s kind of like Green Lantern’s power ring but without the weakness to yellow or the need to make all its constructs curry the favor of Kermit the Frog. They used the fragments to create Pleasant Hill,...

We already talked to an oddsmaker about everyone’s chances of survival — sorry, Hank — but what about the many other possibilities for how this show could end? Like what will happen with the money? Could Walt and/or Jesse actually end up behind bars?
Well, thanks to Rupert Adams, spokesman for William Hill, we have a few more numbers for you.

After several seasons in the wind, Anna Camp returns to True Blood this season to reprise her role as Sarah Newlin.
When we last saw Sarah Newlin, it was season two. She and her husband Rev. Steve Newlin were heading the Fellowship of the Sun, a church with an anti-vampire slant. Between Steve's controlling nature and Sarah's intense attraction to Jason Stackhouse, the marriage didn't last. Sarah did not return to series after season two, but Steve did, as a homosexual vampire - the two things the Fellowship of the Sun hated the most.
So where will Anna Camp's character go in season six? Even money says that she is going to try to seduce her way back into Jason's bed... and jam a stake into Steve's heart.
True Blood returns to HBO for its sixth season on June 16th.

American Idol Prediction - Jessica Sanchez To Be Re-Eliminated
Last week J Lo, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson, stopped American Idol eliminee Jessica Sanchez from singing for her save, and in doing so probably doomed the aspiring Idol to suffer the same fate this week. Yes, the moment of passion as the trio seized the stage, and Jessica's microphone, to rescue Sanchez from the nation's apathy was good TV, as it is intended to be, but it also exposed just how meaningless the American Idol save is to begin with. Yes, the judges successfully bent back the will of the voting population, but in doing so they denied giving viewers a substantive argument for why they were wrong to begin with, an argument only her singing could have made. As if we needed more proof that the save was just a means to injecting artificial drama into American Idol's aging bloodstream.

There are a lot of great movies coming out this year, and every one of them wants you to believe it's the biggest film event of the decade. "The Dark Knight Rises"! "The Hunger Games"! The Avengers"!

Written by Robert Tannen (Even Money), Seeking Justice stars Nicolas Cage as Will Gerard, a happily married high school teacher whose life is turned upside down when his musician wife (January Jones) is violently attacked. When Will is approached by a stranger named Simon (Guy Pearce) who offers to track down his wife's attacker and dispense street justice, he accepts without thought of the terrible price he will be asked to pay in return.

(Time starts from when she starts saying “Brave” until her the note ends. If she says the full word twice wagers will be No Action.) Over 6 seconds: -140 Under 6 seconds: Even Bet: Under. This is a classic prop bet where the odds are clearly titled towards the more fun/ridiculous option to bet; it’s amusing to bet money that Christina Aguilera will hold a note for a stupidly long amount of time, but is anyone actually...

So you want to make your millions in automated, high-speed trading. What are your feelings on tundra?
Thinking of entering the world of high-speed computer trading, but don't know whether you're best situated in New York, London, or Hong Kong? Your best bet may be Siberia instead, according to a new study from two MIT researchers.
Ultra-fast computer-assisted trading make up about half the trades in many markets. It's a realm in which a minute might as well be a day; the smartest trades are made by being milliseconds faster than anyone else. For this reason, many firms set up shop near market exchanges, for the simple reason that being closer translates into getting information quicker. "Even money can't move faster than the speed of light," as New Scientist puts it, and our world of ubiquitous digital communications still must obey the laws of physics.

Joining him, we've just learned, will be the comely and alliterative January Jones, who stars in Mad Men and who also just signed on for Unknown White Male.Jones plays Cage's wife (marriage to Cage and Liam Neeson in the same week: impressive, no?), the victim of a brutal crime that pushes Cage towards a vigilante organisation. "In the best Hitchcockian tradition", it says here, Cage gets in over his head. Action! Danger! Excitement! Eye-boggling and that little nervous laugh!Robert Tannen (Even Money) wrote the script, Tobey Maguire's company is producing, and the director is Roger Donaldson. Filming will presumably need to be completed before Cage starts work on Drive Angry in April, which makes for a tight schedule if Jones is...

Not surprisingly, it seems that things are going well for January Jones's career after her great work in Mad Men. In a recent page 3, we mentioned that Jones would be joining Diane Kruger and Liam Neeson in Unknown White Male. Now it seems she has another theatrical project lined up. Jones will be starring in Hungry Rabbit Jump, alongside Nicolas Cage as his wife. The film will be helmed by Roger Donaldson (The Bank Job, Thirteen Days), with a script by Robert Tannen (Even Money). We've known about the project since September, when Cage left The Green Hornet. The film concerns a man who is out for revenge after his wife becomes victim to a crime. He seeks out help from a vigilante group, and quickly gets in over his head. I'm not sure if we can rely on Cage not to give us a hilarious performance (somebody remind...

Nicolas Cage is keeping busy at the moment: with Kick-Ass and The Sorceror's Apprentice in the bag, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans doing the festival rounds and 3D action film Drive Angry already lined up. But for the 5 minutes he's got spare in the meantime, he's signed on to star in The Hungry Rabbit Jumps, a vigilante thriller to be directed by Roger Donaldson.Based on a script by Robert Tannen (gambling drama Even Money), Cage will play a man whose wife is the victim of a violent crime, who becomes involved in an underground vigilante organisation as he tries to deal with the aftermath. Producer Jim Stern described the plot to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, "In the best of the Hitchcockian tradition, we've got a character who's offered the chance for vengeance and he finds himself in over his head."The rest remains under wraps, but we'll...

At the tail end of last month news broke of a new action movie called Drive Angry that Nicolas Cage has committed to star in. He still is going to star in that film which starts rolling in April but now Cage has found another paycheck to earn before Drive Angry gets rolling.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the comic book Coppola will topline The Hungry Rabbit Jumps, a thriller that will shoot in January in New Orleans (the same place where Drive Angry will lens.) Get this: the story will have Mr. Ghost Rider playing a man whose wife is a victim of a brutal crime, so he gets caught up somehow in an underground vigilante group that ferrets out justice on criminals. Sounds like Fight Club meets The Star Chamber meets Death Wish. At this rate it's pretty much a given that if you're playing a son, daughter...
