- TriviaThe story for this episode was pitched as "It's a Wonderful Life (1946) in reverse."
- GoofsAlthough in real life, anyone with $0 or less at the end of the Double Jeopardy round is eliminated, when Marge is on Jeopardy! (1984), she is seen on Final Jeopardy with a deficit of $5,200. This is obviously used as a joke, along with Alex Trebek's guest appearance as a pushy, sinister version of himself, rather than reflecting the real rules of the game show.
- Crazy creditsThe Gracie Films jingle is re-orchestrated to sound like a Christmas Carol.

Mean Spirited!
So in Miracle on Evergreen Terrace, Bart accidentally burns the Simpsons' christmas tree and then buries it. So then Bart makes up this lie about a burglar burning the tree and then later in the episode, the Simpsons' family realizes that Bart burned the christmas tree, so then they ALL strangle Bart just because their tree was accidentally burned down, and they don't even think about the true meaning of christmas until the family loses ALL of their things. Like, seriously? Even Maggie strangles Bart nearly to death? Even MARGE? Like, it's so out of character for Marge to strangle Bart. In a situation like this, she would just make Bart sit in time out or ground in, not strangle him nearly to death. Also, I just find this episode unfunny and boring. The episode just goes on and on and then after the point where Bart tells the truth about him making up the burglar guy, the entire family gets hated by literally everyone in Springfield. Yes, everyone. Even Ned Flanders. Then at the end when it seems like everyone has forgiven Bart and his family, the entire city just takes all of the family's stuff and makes their house barren. Also, why did the other Simpsons Family members believe Bart's lie, I mean it was clearly a lie why did they believe him so much that they called the police? Like, other times in the series when Bart lied, the other family members didn't believe him, but now they're just all dumb and believe Bart's lie. Then at the end, they realize that the true meaning of christmas is family, which is what they should've learned before they all decided to strangle Bart and nearly kill him. How is this even a Christmas special? It's so mean spirited and Christmas isn't supposed to be mean spirited, it's supposed to be a time of niceness and family. Overall, this is a bad episode and while it's not in my Bottom 50, it's still really bad. Redeeming Qualities: At least everyone learns their lesson at the end, even if it's a bit rushed. The joke with Jeopardy where Marge has -5200 dollars was pretty funny. I like the part where the Simpsons see the Flanders with them moving artificially so then they try to move artificially too (it's the scene where the Simpsons look into the Flanders' window). Bart had no intention on making chaos and told the truth about him accidentally burning down the christmas tree, eventually.
