“House of the Dragon” might’ve already closed out its second installment with a season-high viewership on HBO and Max, but its Season 2 midpoint is breaking Nielsen records.
After the “Game of Thrones” spin-off series debuted its explosive Episode 4 on Sunday, July 7, “House of the Dragon” tallied up 1.27 billion viewing minutes during the interval of July 8 through July 14, per Nielsen. For the first time ever, “House of the Dragon” ranked as the most-watched streaming program after slowly gaining traction during the first half of Season 2.
Viewership for “House of the Dragon” during the week of July 8 exceeded that of “Bluey,” which took the No. 2 spot on the overall most-streamed programs list with 1.08 billion viewing minutes on Disney+, as well as “Suits,” which is seeing another streaming resurgence with 1.07 billion...

Overall streaming numbers for July 8-14 came down a fair amount from the record-breaking previous week. HBO’s House of the Dragon, however, was virtually even with its prior viewing total — which was good enough to move it to the top spot for the first time.
House of the Dragon amassed 1.27 billion minutes of viewing on Max (not including viewing on HBO’s cable channels), just a smidge below the 1.3 billion it had the week before. With the two titles ahead of it the previous week, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F and Suits, each falling by significant amounts, the HBO show moved up to No. 1.
Suits fell by 28 percent week-to-week to 1.07 billion minutes of viewing on Netflix and Peacock, which was good for third place overall, slightly behind Bluey (1.08 billion minutes on Disney+) and just ahead of The Boys (1.05 billion for Prime Video), which had its fifth consecutive week over the billion-minute mark.

This summer’s hottest trend? Revising the value of your cable channels.
On Wednesday, Warner Bros. Discovery realized its cable networks were worth $9 billion less than it originally thought. On Thursday, Paramount Global reduced the book value of its own cable channels by nearly $6 billion. Wbd’s internal audit was triggered by its loss of NBA rights; Paramount recorded the “goodwill impairment charge” based on what Skydance is paying for the company and its networks. These changes do not impact cash flow.
With the giant accounting maneuver, Paramount Global posted adjusted earnings of 54 cents per share, well above the 12 cents per share anticipated by Wall Street. Without it, the company’s Q2 operating-income loss was a whopping $5.32 billion. Paramount whiffed on media analysts’ consensus expectation of $7.21 billion in revenue, reporting $6.813 billion.

Any fan of the Showtime hit show ‘Dexter’ will enjoy ‘Trap.’ It’s hard not to when the killer in the film is called ‘The Butcher.’ Unfortunately for the victims of the Butcher, he lacks Dexter Morgan’s code for killing people. Evil Murderers and serial killers aren’t exactly the butcher’s target demographic. The town of Philidelphia is being terrorized by “The Butcher,” a local serial killer known for kidnapping and chopping his victims up. With the city and regional towns horrified, law enforcement is nowhere near figuring out who the butcher is outside his profile. When the receipt for a popular artist is found in one of the properties he uses for his crimes, the Philidelphia stop on Lady Raven’s tour becomes a setup to capture him. With three thousand men attending this concert, one of them is a serial killer. And we already know who it is.

Fans of the popular Dexter series received some tantalizing yet concerning news about upcoming spinoffs at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. While the announcements of Dexter: Original Sin and Dexter: Resurrection got devotees excited to revisit the Showtime hit, one casting choice for the prequel and the sequel’s planned continuation of New Blood’s ending could undermine beloved elements of the original saga.
Dexter: Original Sin is raising eyebrows with its decision to cast Brittany Allen as Laura Moser, Dexter’s biological mother whose murder was a defining event that set the dark analyst on his sinister path. However, having Laura as a recurring character contradicts huge reveals around Dexter’s unknown biological family that were masterfully doled out. While Allen is a strong get for any project, her role jeopardizes the monumental plot twists that thrilled viewers.

Unlike many other television shows out there, Breaking Bad was one of the lucky ones whose ending left fans satisfied. The show ended on September 29, 2013, leaving behind a perfectly wrapped-up series starring Bryan Cranston. Some would even go as far as to say that it is one of the greatest series finales of all time.

However, what if things had ended differently? What if Breaking Bad didn’t get the finale it deserved and the show left fans disappointed in the end? Well, fans on Reddit have some ideas on how everything could have gone South and one alternate ending that involves Better Call Saul’s Kim Wexler has managed to catch our eye.

Nielsen recorded its biggest week of streaming ever over the Fourth of July holiday, as all ten of the most-watched titles reached over a billion minutes viewed.
In total, the week led to more than 313B viewing minutes from July 1 to July 7 — the highest that Nielsen has ever recorded and, the company posits, possibly the largest weekly streaming total ever — led by Eddie Murphy’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, which topped the charts with 2.1B minutes viewed.
The No. 2 title elicits a bit of déjà vu, as Suits once again found itself on the charts with 1.5B minutes viewed. While that’s nowhere near the record-breaking performance the series saw over last year’s holiday week, it’s an impressive total likely induced by the fact that the final season finally landed on Netflix. Previously, only eight of nine seasons were available, with the ninth remaining solely on Peacock.

For the first time ever, every streaming title in Nielsen’s weekly top 10 ranking pulled in over 1 billion minutes viewed.
Per Nielsen, the week of July 1-7 recorded over 313 billion viewing minutes across streaming platforms. That is the highest level of streaming consumption ever in a single week since Nielsen began putting out its top 10 list in 2020.
July 7 was also the fourth-highest daily level of streaming viewership ever recorded by Nielsen. The only individual days to exceed it were: January 13, 2024—the most-streamed day on record—which included the NFL Wild Card playoff game on Peacock; and February 17 and 18, which was the post-Super Bowl weekend.
Leading the overall chart was the Netflix film “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” starring Eddie Murphy, which pulled in a staggering 2.05 billion minutes viewed. Its nearest competition was “Suits,” which returned to the top of the chart with 1.5 billion minutes. “House of the Dragon” was next with 1.3 billion,...

The week that includes the July 4 holiday is usually a big one for streaming services — but it’s never been as big as this year.
Nielsen’s streaming content ratings show the week of July 1-7 as the biggest one ever since the measurement firm began regularly tracking streaming several years ago. TV users spent 313 billion minutes on streaming platforms for the week, and for the first time, every entrant in the top 10 overall titles had at least 1 billion minutes of viewing.
The previous biggest week came just seven days earlier, when seven of the overall top 10 crossed the billion-minute mark. Nielsen also says July 7 was the fourth-largest streaming day it has ever tracked, behind Jan. 13 — when Peacock had an exclusive NFL playoff game — and Feb. 17-18, which was both the Presidents Day holiday and had a cold snap keeping much of the country indoors.

The week of the 4th of July broke Nielsen streaming records, led by Eddie Murphy’s “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.”
During the week of July 1-7, streaming viewership soared to 313 billion viewing minutes across platforms, ranking as the largest streaming consumption for a single week recorded by Nielsen’s Top 10 charts.

In the upcoming prequel series, viewers are taken back to Miami in the early 90s, as Dexter gets his start.
However, while there is interest about the Original Sin prequel, there is also a lot of backlash from Dexter fans. The way they see things, no...

At 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, Dexter diehards were elated to hear the announcement that Michael C. Hall would be returning for yet another go around as Miami Metro’s most lovable serial killer in the sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection. Taking place after the events of both Dexter and Dexter: New Blood, Dexter: Resurrection should grapple with the character’s family issues and conflicted sense of morality just like the previous two series.
Let’s put aside the funny little problem that Dexter died at the end of New Blood, or at least that’s what the audience was led to believe. The writers will find a loophole to easily bring him back into the picture. Character deaths on TV are always disputed even when the writers want to make it concrete and obvious that someone is six feet under. Fans will have no problem wrapping their heads around Dexter’s return,...

Patrick Gibson may be playing a younger version of Michael C. Hall in “Dexter: Original Sin,” but the actor doesn’t want his take on the serial killer to be just a “mirror impression” of his predecessor. So, while Gibson studied Hall closely, he also made sure to remember the timeline of things.
“Dexter: Original Sin” will take place in the ’90s, when Dexter Morgan is just a teenager and only just beginning to act on his murderous urges. With some guidance from his dad Harry (Christian Slater in this series), he develops his guiding code that fans came to know in the original series.
During the “Dexter: Original Sin” panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, it was revealed that not only would Hall be returning to star in a new spinoff — “Dexter: Resurrection” — but he’ll be lending his voice to narrate “Original Sin.” And, according to Gibson,...

Dexter‘s titular character was a serial killer who went undetected for years, so it makes sense that a prequel about his teen years will contain secrets of its own — even for diehard fans of the original series.
TVLine’s Keisha Hatchett caught up with Molly Brown, who plays a young Deb in the upcoming Dexter: Original Sin, at San Diego Comic-Con Saturday, to get the lowdown on the new series. “The scripts are so good,” Brown teases in the video above. “There’s some really, really good stuff at the end of the season.”

Showtime is prepping to add to its expansive Dexter Universe yet again! Dexter Morgan is coming back in a new sequel series to Dexter: New Blood titled Dexter: Resurrection, and yes, Michael C. Hall will be reprising his role as the titular serial killer.
The announcement came during the recent San Diego Comic Con panel for the previously announced prequel series Dexter: Original Sin, which is currently in production. Hall, who also serves as an executive producer on Dexter: Original Sin, made a surprise appearance during the panel alongside executive producer/showrunner Clyde Phillips to drop the news.
In addition to Dexter Morgan's return, the panel revealed that the Golden Globe Award-winning actor will lend his voice to Dexter's "inner voice" in the prequel show, which features actor Patrick Gibson taking over for Hall to play a young Dexter set in 1990s Miami, Florida.

Somehow, Dexter will be back.
Michael C. Hall will lead Showtime/Paramount+’s upcoming “Dexter” sequel series, “Dexter: Resurrection,” which is set to follow the events of the last sequel series, “Dexter: New Blood.” The big question is how will that be possible since the 2022 finale saw the serial killer bleeding out in the freezing cold.
At the time, showrunner Clyde Phillips confirmed that “Dexter is dead.” So, how is he back now that that’s been confirmed?
“Was it?” Hall coyly asked at the Variety studio, presented by Google TV, at San Diego Comic-Con. “I don’t know what I am authorized to say other than, it’s really cold out there.”
“Dexter” aired on Showtime from 2006 to 2013, with “Dexter: New Blood,” a limited series, airing for one season from 2021 to 2022, picking up 10 years after the original finale.

It appears that Michael C. Hall isn’t done with the Dexter IP, but fans surely are. During the ongoing San Diego Comic-Con, Hall appeared at the Dexter: Original Sin panel and surprised fans with the announcement of a new sequel series. The newly announced Dexter: Resurrection is reportedly a sequel to New Blood, which was released in 2021 as a sequel to the original show.

Moreover, the show ended with the death of Hall’s main character, which means Resurrection may go out of its way to bring back Dexter Morgan from the dead.

Dexter is probably one of the most entertaining and gripping serial killer shows out there. Michael C. Hall played the titular character leading a double life – a forensic technician by day and a vigilante serial killer by night. The crime drama went on for eight seasons before coming to an end. A few years later, Dexter returned for a miniseries, Dexter: New Blood.

Spoilers: This article will contain spoilers for Dexter: New Blood.
Just when you thought we had seen the last of Dexter Morgan – no, like, for real this time – comes word that yet another sequel series is in the works. Despite seeing the character killed by his own son in the finale of revival Dexter: New Blood, Morgan will evidently be returning to the franchise that Showtime refuses to let die. Surprise, motherf*cker!
The series, Dexter: Resurrected, was announced at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, where a panel for Dexter: Original Sin took place. As for that prequel series, Patrick Gibson plays Dexter Morgan in the early ‘90s, learning about the “code” and developing his serial killer tendencies; meanwhile, Michael C. Hall will provide narration/the inner voice, just as he did in the original 2006-2013 series. Original Sin is set to premiere later this year.

Showtime’s Dexter returned to San Diego Comic-Con on Friday night with a very special guest in tow, Michael C. Hall.
It’s not a Dexter Con without Dexter, and this evening there were two in attendance: Hall and Patrick Gibson, the latter of who plays the younger version of the former’s character in the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin. Hall serves as narrator of the 90s-set series, which will premiere in December.
Additionally, Hall will star in Dexter: Resurrection, a new series that is set in present day and is a followup to the 2021 Dexter: New Blood. It will launch in summer 2025.
“It’s pretty heady,” said Hall, after receiving a standing ovation in Ballroom 20. He’s also an EP on both series. “I’m having flashbacks of the first time I came to Comic-Con. We were in this hall. That was … 75 years ago? It’s amazing to still be alive.

Da Bear.
FX made the third season of “The Bear” available in its entirety on Hulu on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, just as it did for Seasons 1 and 2 of the show about a Chicago sandwich spot turned fine-dining establishment. Getting people to scarf down the whole meal in one sitting worked — in the short term.
Nielsen’s streaming data for the week of June 24-30 finally caught up to those of us existing in the present on Thursday. No shade: That’s the TV-ratings currency company’s typical delay in streaming measurement.
Nielsen says “The Bear” was streamed for 1.2 billion viewing minutes over its first five days, and that two-thirds of its audience were between the ages of 18 and 49. That is traditionally the coveted demographic for advertisers — especially for those advertising on linear TV.
The 1.2 billion minutes streamed made “The Bear” the top original streaming program, but it was not #1 overall.

In the parlance of the times, The Bear absolutely ate in the week of its third season premiere.
The FX-produced Hulu show had its biggest streaming week to date for the June 24-30 period. The Emmy-winning series, whose third season premiered June 27, racked up 1.23 billion minutes of viewing for the week — beating its previous high of 1.01 billion minutes shortly after its season two premiere last year.
The Bear was one of seven shows to score more than a billion minutes of viewing for the week, a rarity in the four-year history of Nielsen’s streaming rankings. Former Showtime series Your Honor continued its strong run, leading all titles with 1.58 billion minutes of viewing on Netflix and Paramount+. Another Showtime title, Dexter, saw its viewing rise by 84 percent from the previous week to 1.48 billion minutes.
The Boys (1.18 billion minutes), Bridgerton (1.14 million), Bluey (1.1 billion) and House of the Dragon (1.05 billion) also...

The opening weekend of “The Bear” Season 3 saw impressive viewership on Hulu, though the FX series was outpaced by “Your Honor” and “Dexter.”
As “The Bear” debuted the entirety of its third season on Hulu on June 27, the Jeremy Allen White-led series tallied up 1.2 billion viewing minutes on Hulu between June 24-30, ranking as the week’s third overall most-watched streaming program. However, viewership for “The Bear” was surpassed by both “Your Honor” and “Dexter,” which scored 1.58 billion and 1.48 billion viewing minutes, respectively, across Paramount+ and Netflix.
Though “Your Honor” climbed to become the week’s most-watched streaming program, viewership fell slightly from the 1.95 billion viewing minutes it tallied up the previous week. Notably, both “Your Honor” and “Dexter” are Showtime shows streaming Paramount+ that received a viewing bump after being added to Netflix.

And we’re back. We’re back to possession and we are back to it being heavy on the religious side and everything purported to be a true story. This time we are looking a little deeper into the legal implications of what happens when someone is injured or even dies during an exorcism, sanctioned or not. The Exorcism of Emily Rose (watch it Here) was a massive commercial hit and garnered middle of the pack reviews when it came out in 2005. 2005 was not a banner year for horror and it was different from the slew of remakes as well as setting itself apart from nearly everything else that came out that year. While The Asylum, known for schlock takes on popular products, would release their version of the true story in 2011 and German film Requiem would come out to far better acclaim the next year, Emily Rose would be...

Dexter: Original Sin Takes Things Back To Miami In The 90s
With the huge success of the original Dexter franchise, as well as the 10-episode New Blood season in 2021, there is clearly still a lot of interest in the Dexter universe. That is exactly what producers are hoping for with the upcoming Dexter prequel, Original Sin.
Original Sin takes Dexter fans back to the beginning, of sorts, with a young Dexter Morgan trying to find his way in early 90s Miami. This includes finding a career path, as well as developing a code to satisfy his murderous urges, with the help of his father (played by Christian Slater).
