Season 21 of “The Voice” is breaking new ground with five sets of duos or trios advancing from the Blind Auditions. Coaches Ariana Grande and Kelly Clarkson each snagged two singing groups while Blake Shelton wound up with one. John Legend is the only coach with just soloists on his team, for now. With more groups moving forward than ever before, we decided to take a look back at how duos and trios have performed historically on the NBC reality TV competition.
Believe it or not, “The Voice” has never restricted itself to soloists and the first duo to make their mark was The Thompson Sisters on Season 1. They teamed up with coach CeeLo Green and were able to sing their way into the Top 16 that inaugural season. Over the next two cycles The Line and Beat Frequency (Team Christina Aguilera), 2SteelGirls (Team Blake) and The Shields Brothers (Team CeeLo) were all eliminated in the Battles.

Exclusive: Apple is to launch a podcast about pop culture icons Siegfried & Roy – marking one of its first major forays into original audio series.
The series has landed at Apple TV+, its television and film division, and will launch on the Apple podcast platform.
It comes at a time where competition is becoming more prevalent in the podcast business with major rival Spotify getting heavily into originals that only live on its platform.
Apple has cautiously dipped its toes into original shows in the past but they have largely been focused around its music platform – The Zane Lowe Podcast Series – or its original television shows such as For All Mankind.
Earlier this month, it unveiled The Line from Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions, which will feature an original podcast series and a TV docuseries. The Siegfried & Roy series marks the first major show to come without an immediate television companion.

From the very start, Lindeman has put her own off-kilter, stark spin on traditional idioms, like on 2017’s “Thirty,” from the band’s self-titled breakthrough, where a daydream about a gentle embrace spins out into a sprawling remembrance about anti-depressants, gas prices, and the strength of the Canadian dollar.

While movements such as Fridays for Future and environmental organizations showing us the footprint humans leave on the earth, the amount of destruction and exploitation, from the extinction of species to deforestation, it is hard to grasp just how much change the advent of humanity has brought to the planet. The ongoing effects of recent lockdowns coupled with an anticipated surge in consumer VR headset sales have made industry eyes look to online distribution pathways with more interest than ever before.
While on-site exhibition spaces remain hard-hit in this germ-averse age, the consumer headset market is expected to reach new heights, with market analyst firm Ccs Insight predicting 69 million unit sales in 2024 alone – up 60 million from this year’s total sales.

Adult Swim’s “Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal,” FX’s “Archer” and NBC’s “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” are among this year’s first batch of Emmy victors, as the Television Academy announced juried award winners on Tuesday.

The political thriller has enjoyed the best opening weekend for a local film in national cinemas in the last 20 years. 2019 was a great year for Slovakian films on domestic turf, as the one-million-viewer threshold was exceeded for national productions (see the news). The most-visited Slovakian movie of 2019 ended up being The Rift (see the news), an adaptation of Jozef Karika’s book of the same name, directed by Peter Bebjak. National distributor Continental Film has honed the art of marketing Bebjak’s films, resulting in a strong opening weekend at the box office. In August 2017, The Line drew 69,242 paying theatre-goers, while 83,266 viewers came to see The Rift during its first week on release. Incidentally, 2017 was also a record-breaking year for openings of domestic films (see the news). The romantic comedy All or Nothing was the first to break the opening record, followed by...

We have a list of the new Hulu movies and shows arriving in October 2018.
Happy Huluween!
Hulu is blessed to have a name that sounds roughly enough like "Hallow." That means it's basically honor-bound to bring the heat for Halloween. Thankfully for the October 2018 new releases, Hulu is bringing us the spookies that we need. The Blair Witch Project, The Others, and Child's Play all arrive this month. And if you're looking for some more wholesome creepies, The Nightmare Before Christmas should do. And if that weren't enough, Hulu is debuting its own horror show - anthology series Into the Dark.
For those shamefully unable to get into the Halloween spirit, Hulu is bringing in some other fun film options. Galaxy Quest, Music and Lyrics, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective should help out with that.
Then of course, are the usual and typically deep TV offerings.

After a series of delays, Star Trek 3 – rumored to be titled Star Trek Beyond – heads into production this week in Vancouver, and as Justin Lin prepares to lens the Paramount/Skydance threequel, the film’s cast has finished re-negotiations to earn a big pay bump. Simultaneously, stars Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, the highest-paid out in the cast, have closed deals to appear in a fourth Star Trek installment for the studio.
The unusually lengthy development process for this third film, which included producer Roberto Orci taking the reins at one point but getting ousted once he passed in a first draft of his script, was one factor in the contract renegotiations, which The Hollywood Reporter says added $10 to $15 million to the budget.
