Hollywood is assembling a force to be reckoned with as Rosario Dawson joins Alexandra Shipp and Milla Jovovich for the upcoming action thriller Midnight. Dawson joins the project as a producer and actor, with first-time filmmaker Joshua Otis Miller directing for Yale Productions. The plan is to shop the project for potential buyers at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
According to Deadline, Midnight revolves around a young, blind woman (Shipp) who is hunted by a collective of international criminals led by Jovovich’s character. The deadly group wants a package they believe was given to Shipp’s character by her federal agent sister (Dawson). The group assumes stealing from the visually impaired will be easy, but that assumption is about to go terribly wrong. Lamont Magee and Jeff Byrd wrote the script.

Add Beck Bennett to the list of Saturday Night Live stars populating superhero movies. James Gunn recently announced that Bennett would appear in his new Superman film as Steve Lombard, a loudmouthed sportswriter who lives to torment Clark Kent.
Bennett is just the latest SNL star to find his way into the Marvel and DC cinematic universes, too. Here are other SNL vets who suited up for super action…
1 Robert Downey Jr.
The undisputed king of this list, Downey spent a tortured year as an SNL cast member when he was only 21. “I learned so much in that year about what I wasn’t,” he told the Off-Camera Show’s Sam Jones. “I was not somebody who was going to do impressions. I was somebody who was very ill-suited for rapid-fire sketch comedy.”

John Leguizamo has been a champion of Latino actors in Hollywood, but when the industry tried to diminish his talent, he made sure he would keep his head high. That’s what happened when an iconic role was almost handed to him, and the studio took it back.
John Leguizamo in John Wick
The actor almost joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2017 to play Vulture or Adrian Toomes, but the role was ultimately given to Michael Keaton. The former felt this was an act of betrayal.
John Leguizamo Was Devastated After Vulture Role Was Snatched From Him
In his interview with Comic Book, actor John Leguizamo made the revelation that he was supposed to be Vulture in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

With a new A-list actor joining a comic book franchise seemingly every day, it’s almost easier to list the actors who haven’t attached themselves to the Marvel or DC universes. One example? John Leguizamo, who has voiced The Riddler in the “Batman: The Audio Adventures” podcast but has yet to play a superhero on the big screen. But the actor says he came closer to playing one than many fans realize.
In a new interview with Comicbook.com, Leguizamo explained that he was in the mix for Vulture, Michael Keaton’s villain from “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” The actor said that he was Marvel’s original choice for the character, and he even had a deal in place until Keaton showed interest in the role. Keaton was a hot commodity in Hollywood after his Oscar-nominated comeback performance in “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance),” and Marvel asked Leguizamo to step...

Exclusive: Greg Silverman and Jon Berg of Stampede Ventures have snapped up rights to screenwriter Umair Aleem’s new action-adventure spec script The Paladin, which is being eyed as a franchise-starter, unfolding into a much larger, expansive universe.
Billed as Doctor Strange meets Unforgiven, The Paladin centers on a broken-down, last-of-his-kind warrior mage who undertakes a final quest to protect a child who has the power to save or destroy our world.
Silverman and Berg will produce the feature with a plan to go into production next year. The packaging of a star and filmmaker are underway.
The Paladin comes on the heels of Aleem’s hard-action feature Kate, a 2017 Black List script, which premiered on Netflix in September starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Woody Harrelson and Mike Martineau. Kate was the most watched film on any streaming service for 12 straight days. Aleem also adapted Danger Girl and wrote the sequel to Mile 22 for STX.
