This post contains spoilers for the fifth episode of "Ted Lasso" season 3.
The minute "For All Mankind" and "Bomb Girls" star Jodi Balfour appeared on screen in "Ted Lasso," I knew this show was heading somewhere fun. Actually, even before viewers saw financier Jack's face, soft sparks were already flying between her and Keeley (Juno Temple) when the pair shared an unorthodox, tampon-related meet-cute. A moment later, their face-to-face introduction featured approximately 500% more eager-but-shy smiles than any platonic work event ever should. Yeah, I thought, there's definitely something there.
Still, the fact that Keeley and Jack's shippy new dynamic gave way so quickly to a passionate hook-up is a surprise – if a welcome one. "Ted Lasso" has never explicitly stated that Keeley is into women, but it's no surprise given some of her flirty exchanges with Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) over the years, like when she gawks at her friend's nearly-leaked nudes.

Strategic Partners, a presentation of the Atlantic Film Festival, has announced the producers selected to participate as part of the inaugural project exchange with Mexico’s Los Cabos International Film Festival and Brazil’s RioContentMarket, in addition to an incredible line-up of producers and projects. As part of a two year spotlight on Latin America, one Mexican producer with a feature film in development and one Brazilian producer with a television project in development have been invited to participate at Strategic Partners 2014, September 11 - 14 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. A Canadian feature film in development will then be selected from this year’s Strategic Partners to participate at Los Cabos International Film Festival, November 11 - 14, 2014. Additionally, a Canadian television project in development looking for Brazilian co-production partners will be chosen to attend RioContentMarket, February 2015. This initiative is sponsored by the Canadian Media Production Association.
Producer and co-founder of the Mexican production company Agrupación Caramelo Cinematografica, April Shannon, has been selected to participate in this year’s Strategic Partners from Los Cabos International Film Festival. Shannon’s impressive career includes working as producer on Bernardo Arellano’s "Between Night and Day" as well as production manager on James Franco’s "The Broken Tower." Shannon recently produced Arellano’s second feature "The Beginning of Time," now in post-production, to be released in late 2014. Shannon will bring the dark thriller "Franco’s Night" to Strategic Partners with production slated for 2015 in Mexico.
Brazilian producer Marcelo Galvão has been selected from RioContentMarket’s esteemed alumni of 2014. Galvão established production company Gatacine in 2001 and has since directed six features including "Farewell," "La Rina and Bellini"and the "Devil." He has won over 50 renowned awards including Best Film at the Gramado Film Festival, Best Director at the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival and Best Screenwriter at Paulína Film Festival (Brazil) among many others. Galvão will bring the highly anticipated television miniseries, The Gardener, to this year’s Strategic Partners.
“Ushering in the very first project exchange with producers April Shannon and Marcelo Galvão sets the bar incredibly high and truly complements the illustrious roster of delegates we will have at this year’s events,” says Strategic Partners Director, Laura Mackenzie. “The results couldn’t have been more ideal and I look forward to continuing our newly founded relationships with Los Cabos International Film Festival and RioContentMarket.”

The faboo Kathy Najimy has joined the cast of Descendants, the Disney Channel’s upcoming movie about the children of the villains from classic animated Disney movies. Najimy will play the Evil Queen. This keeps sounding amazing.
I don’t know how I feel about this. Mark Sheppard will be a series regular in the tenth season of Supernatural. Sheppard is a great actor but I’ve long felt that the Supernatural writers ran out of good stories for Crowley a while ago.
Game of Thrones fansite WinterIsComing.net has descriptions of characters debuting in the fifth season. Watch out for spoilers if you follow the link, obviously. I’m certainly intrigued by the direction this is heading.
Quentin Tarantino says he wants to re-release Django Unchained as a mini-series. It wouldn’t be a remake but the original movie with 90 minutes of additional footage, shown as four one-hour episodes.

Start Planning Your 1940s-Themed Party for the Memorial Day Premiere of Bomb Girls: Facing the Enemy
It's never a bad idea to have a theme party, and we're always looking for an excuse to wear a cute, new hat. Seeing as the premiere of the Reelz original movie Bomb Girls: Facing the Enemy is coming up soon, we thought we'd put together a plan for one hep 1940s-style party.
First we'll deal with what to wear. It's easy enough to find '40s-inspired dresses on the interwebs, but don't forget that both ladies and fellas in the '40s rarely left the house without a hat. If you have the time and the inclination, we recommend check out some vintage stores to find a headpiece worthy of Gladys Witham. If not, check out a video on how to tie a turban to get that authentic VicMu look. For any lady who's not interested in getting all dolled up, go full on factory worker and pair the turban with some coveralls.

When it comes to propaganda posters, they were never done better than they were in the Second World War. Posters were designed to inspire, motivate, fill people with pride and instill some fear. The propaganda in these posters was intended to hit a nerve with people from all walks of life, and we're guessing they succeeded. The ladies featured on Reelz' WWII period drama all come from very different backgrounds, yet there’s at least one poster that speaks to each of our Bomb Girls.
Same War, Different Battles
From the very first episode of Bomb Girls, Lorna insists that the ladies who work on the blue shift are soldiers, just like the men serving on the battlefield. We definitely think this poster, which declares that all types of women working in the war effort are "Soldiers without guns," would tug at our favorite floor matron's heart strings.

"After all, a girl likes to know you've had a good time."
In Sunday’s episode of Bomb Girls, Betty hits it off with a good looking soldier who's stationed town. Unfortunately, Betty doesn’t have too much experience in dating, and isn't quite sure how it all works. But Betty’s our girl, and we always have her back. That’s why we went and tracked down this 1940’s social guidance flick, “Dating: Do’s and Don’ts”. This video features the world’s slowest reader, Woody, asking the extremely enthusiastic Anne to the “Hi-Teen Carnival.” Like little sister Judy, we think the carnival “doesn’t sound like much,” but fortunately for Woody, Anne thinks cotton candy, fortune tellers, hot dogs and dart games are the awesomest.
Hopefully Betty’s new lady friend can think of something more fun to do than go to a carnival sponsored by the senior high student council,...

It's clear after only a few moments of watching the period drama Bomb Girls that the ladies in the show have plenty of style. We've done the online shopping to make getting the look of your favorite Bomb Girl a cinch, and there is still plenty of time to get the items in hand before the Memorial Day premiere of the two-hour original Bomb Girls movie. Let's get started.
Explosive Style
Facing the Enemy Premieres Memorial Day
Unfortunately for most of us mere mortals, the swagger of Betty McRae is completely unattainable. After all, whose swagger can ever compare? Luckily, Betty's high-waisted green trousers are available for purchase, thanks to the UK website 20th Century Fox which carries a nearly identical pair. With conversion rates and international shipping, it'll cost you a little over $130, but when you're buying instant swagger, it's well worth a few extra bucks.

With the premiere of Bomb Girls: Facing the Enemy coming in May, we are once again fascinated with all things related to the Second World War. This week we came across this animated WWII propaganda film made by none other than Walt Disney. "Education for Death" is based on a book of the same name written by Gregor Ziemer, and tells the story of a good-natured boy named Hans who is turned into a mindless drone thanks to a Nazi education. It's not every day that we see a decidedly Disney-made tot goose stepping and pledging his allegiance to the Führer. We can definitely see how short films like these helped to convince the American people that joining the war was worthwhile.
For a decidedly less creepy look at WWII, be sure to catch three back-to-back episodes of Bomb Girls Sunday on Reelz starting at 11am Et/ 8am Pt.

"Most girls are inclined to overdress."
In honor of Bomb Girls: Facing the Enemy, Reelz is airing episodes of our favorite wartime drama every Sunday leading up to the movie’s Memorial Day premiere. Sure there's plenty of scenes at the bomb factory and the boarding house, but these episodes also feature plenty of dancing at both the Jewel Box and the Sandy Shores Pavilion. Because the ladies from VicMu made going out and cutting a rug a regular event, we thought the following educational short film about how to act at the big dance was the perfect thing to get us in the mood for some World War II home-front action.

The movie is set during the Battle for the Atlantic and will find the employees of Victory Munitions tasked with working on a sonar system to detect German U-boats. When it becomes clear that a saboteur is among the ranks of the VicMu staff, Gladys is tasked with finding the culprit. It's never a bad time to start making plans for the zombie apocalypse. After all, it's not like the undead are going to give us notice before they start climbing out of the ground and trying to eat our brains. So we decided we'd organize our team and figure out which Reelz characters we're calling dibs on for when the undead begin to rise. With the group we've put together, those zombies don’t stand a chance.
Yossi Dina (Beverly Hills Pawn)
Undoubtedly, Yossi’s masterful negotiating skills will come in handy when we run across other teams trying to survive the apocalypse. But more importantly Yossi’s experience as and Army Captain and Intelligence Officer will be priceless. We’re pretty sure both his fighting and survival skills are all but limitless.
Weapon of choice: Charming personality that can disarm anyone.

Veteran Canadian filmmaker Bruce McDonald has effectively moved between film and television over the course of his career, helming movies such as Pontypool, The Tracey Fragments, and Picture Claire, as well as episodes of Degrassi: The Next Generation, Queer as Folk, and Bomb Girls. His involvement in a project garners added interest, and such was also the case with his next feature. Titled The Husband, McDonald directs from a script by Kelly Harms and Maxwell McCabe-Lokos. McCabe-Lokos also stars in the feature, working alongside Sarah Allen, August Diehl, and Dylan Authors. A full trailer for the film has now been released, and can be seen below.

"Turning out cartridge cases for shells that are bursting in the faces of the enemies of freedom"
It's just one week until the premiere of Bomb Girls season two, and in anticipation of the return of the WWII drama, we thought we'd examine what life was like the like in the 1940s.
This time around we have a short film that comes courtesy of the Prelinger Archives. It was produced by Gm, and it appears to be a motivational flick intended to build workers' morale in their Dayton, Ohio plant. This short video (or perhaps long commercial?) features footage from Gm plants, including some real, historical bomb girls. We're not totally sure why the entirety of the narration is delivered at a shout, but it's still fun to get a glimpse of what a work day was like seventy years ago.

"Poise is simply a state of mind."
From the elegance of Gladys Witham to the swagger of Betty McRae, it's clear that the ladies in Bomb Girls know all about charm, poise and how to carry themselves — even Kate's occasional awkwardness is charming. Because the 1940s were so glamorous, we figured that the best place to learn about grace and charm would be from a vintage instructional video from the period, and did we ever find a good one.

We showed you the new TV spot for upcoming Syfy series Bitten earlier today; that show premieres on January 13 at 10, preceded by the beloved Being Human at 9, and so cool so fun Lost Girl at 8. We have not one but two TV spots for the latter to share with you right now, after a quick (and remarkably vague, sorry) reminder of where we left off:
This season on Lost Girl, fate casts a wide shadow over the Fae world. With Bo’s (Anna Silk) return, the lines between Dark and Light Fae are blurred, causing her embark on a journey of discovery. Bo and company will ultimately realize that, regardless of the challenges and enemies they face, they’re stronger when they confront them together. George Takei (Star Trek) and Ali Liebert (Bomb Girls) are among the new season’s guest stars.
