Yes the series is targeted at children/youngsters
(and contains a few how shale i put it... "references" that aren't exactly appropriate for children
but it's subtle enough for kids not to pick up on...so ok)
the way i see it the writing and world building is pretty good
we get a good narrative and potential
a reasonable magic system a bit of politics a bit of drama and so on
over all the series feels very balanced between the many narratives and stories it's trying to push
which is good... it's simple classical good story telling
i do wish the world was expended a bit upon with more information about the history abut the technology and magic synergy and so on
there's so much more to learn of this world
as should by obvious by now i don't think the series should've been watered down as much as it has for children
in it's core i think the writers could've done an excellent job
by adding more complex emotions and violence and so on....
and making the series for adults...
it's a great sci fi-fantsy mix
which i believe many more could appreciate if it'd be targeted at adults who're able to understand it's weight and subtleties
is it watered down for children.... DEFIANTLY!
But the potential is there the world building is there and so on...
the "concept" is there
feels very well balanced as i said... for the lack of a better word.
I do suggest you watch this... even if the series can be greatly improved upon.
