FX, which stands for Fox Extended, was established by Fox in 1994. A basic cable channel described in its early years as “the little network of NASCAR and Fear Factor repeats,” it began to show the promise of being something more with the 2002 launch of its first original drama, The Shield, for which Michael Chiklis earned the first major Emmy nomination and win for a basic cabler that year. Two years later, John Landgraf, an exec at NBC during its “Must-See TV” epoch, was hired as FX’s head of original programming and began backing shows like Damages, Justified, Louie, The Americans and Atlanta, which made it basic cable’s premier network — the place for premium original programming for adult viewers — with a reach of 99 million households at its 2011 height.

Filming is getting underway this year on director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, a sequel to the 1997 slasher movie that will reportedly feature fresh faces alongside legacy characters. But will the new movie pull a Halloween 2018 and effectively erase the events of the slasher movie’s two sequels from this particular timeline?
Rumors and reports over the weekend indicated that I Know What You Did Last Summer 2025 will indeed operate only as a sequel to the ’97 movie, but Jennifer Kaytin Robinson has taken to social media this week to let us know that those rumors are very much untrue.
Kaytin Robinson tweets, “Iskwydls is canon.” She’s of course referring to 1998’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, the original sequel to the 1997 slasher movie.
That movie was followed by I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer in 2006, but it...

Dressed in “hot girl” attire while bouncing and twerking to her hits, Megan Thee Stallion stumped for Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign during a boisterous rally that featured fellow rapper Quavo as well as Stacey Abrams on Tuesday in Atlanta.
“We’re about to make history!” shouted Megan Thee Stallion while rapping her Grammy-winning hit “Savage,” wearing a Democrat blue suit and a tie with a cropped white shirt revealing her midriff. Visible from the stage was also a sign that read “Hotties For Harris.”
During the brief but energetic set, the Texas native and her dancers, who mirrored her dress with blue blazers, shorts and full white shirts but no ties, bounced through a handful of hits that also included “Girls in the Hood.” Just before performing “Body”, she made a strong campaign pitch for Harris. “I know my ladies in the crowd love their body. Updated: The president of the National Association of Black Journalists is defending its decision to invite Donald Trump to appear at a Q&a session on Wednesday, as some members decried the move given the former president’s conduct.
Trump is scheduled to appear at a session at the association’s Chicago convention with ABC News’ Rachel Scott, Fox News’ Harris Faulkner and Semafor’s Kadia Goba as moderators.
“While Nabj does not endorse political candidates as a journalism organization, we understand the serious work of our members, and welcome the opportunity for them to ask the tough questions that will provide the truthful answers Black Americans want and need to know,” Ken Lemon, the president of Nabj, said in a statement posted on X/Twitter.
He said that Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris were invited to appear, in keeping with a tradition of inviting candidates of both major parties each presidential cycle.

San Diego Comic-Con is just getting underway in sunny southern California, and one of the major day-one panels is bringing a new sneak peak at "Transformers One." If you're tired of so-so live-action "Transformers" flicks, don't worry: "Transformers One" is set to offer something totally different from the Michael Bay "Transformers" films, "Bumblebee," and the like. Namely, it's being advertised as the first-ever totally computer-animated "Transformers" film, and while that could be a good or bad thing depending on the quality of the CGI in question, the filmmakers behind the new movie clearly put a lot of work into these visuals.
The first trailer for "Transformers One" dropped in April, and it did a great job convincing anyone who might be on the fence about yet another Transformers story that this one's a standout. As /Film's Devin Meenan put it, the movie looks like a "a breezy and colorful animated...

Donald Glover has already deemed the opportunity to be a “Saturday Night Live” cast member a bullet he “dodged,” but now the multi-hyphenate creator is detailing just how much “SNL” impacted “30 Rock.”
The NBC sitcom was created by “SNL” alum Tina Fey and satirized working on a sketch series at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, where “SNL” is filmed. But according to Glover, there were more parallels behind-the-scenes than just the meta mocking.
“Even though I had such a great time at ’30 Rock,’ one thing at ’30 Rock’ that I didn’t want as much of, because I feel like it was kind of a thing from ‘SNL,’ was fear,” Glover said during a recent appearance on “Hot Ones” from First We Feast. “Writers’ rooms are a scary place. I was like, ‘Yeah, I just didn’t want any fear in my room.'”

Childish Gambino may be able to sing, but he’s ill-equipped to survive a post-apocalyptic world in the new trailer for Bando Stone & The New World, a brand new sci-fi comedy from director/star Donald Glover.
The mysterious new trailer doesn’t include a release date or official synopsis, but it does reveal that the upcoming comedy features the original motion picture soundtrack by Childish Gambino.
Look for the new track “Lithonia” to release tomorrow, where more insight about Bando Stone could potentially be revealed.
The trailer below highlights actor/producer/director Donald Glover as Bando Stone, a former pop star unprepared for all the strange encounters, from angry animals to dinosaurs to bizarre laser formations. Jessica Allain also stars, and her character in the trailer sets up some of the rules as she explains that they can only move about the tropical island setting at night as, as her son,...

In light of a few ambivalent reviews of “The Bear” season three — it still has an 81 on MetaCritic and 93% freshness on Rotten Tomatoes, so hardly a drubbing — Gold Derby user Jv expressed a provocative opinion in our forums: “Three seasons in three years is crazy. There should be a break at least for the writers to polish their ideas and audiences cool off. Otherwise you’re asking for people to get tired of your show.” Do you agree with them? Join the debate here, and vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
The statement is provocative because it goes against what TV did for most of its history. Television ran like clockwork with most premieres scheduled in the fall with finales set for the spring, then shows came back again in the fall, and so on. Even as cable shows started to rise and eschewed that formal TV calendar,...

Exclusive: Amazon MGM Studios has landed the package Murder 101, with Jon Watts attached to direct. Watts will also produce alongside Dianne McGunigle and KT Studios’ Stephanie Lydecker. Carrie Lieberman and Conal Byrne will produce for iHeartMedia. This follows a brisk auction last week that had numerous studios in the fray.
The film forms its basis from the true story that unfolds in the KT Studios’ and iHeartPodcasts’ #1 true crime podcast. Set in a small Tennessee town, the podcast told a story about how a group of high school students and their teacher Alex Campbell profiled a local serial killer. It led to his capture.
Jon Watts most recently directed Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Homecoming Trilogy and directed and executive produced the FX series The Old Man. Upcoming, Watts wrote, directed, and produced Wolfs, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, set for a fall release from Apple Studios and Sony.

A galaxy far, far away keeps getting bigger and bigger thanks to Disney+ expanding the “Star Wars” franchise with several TV shows, such as “The Mandalorian” and “Ahsoka,” to go alongside their film output. As such, “Star Wars” fans have gotten used to seeing actors from the franchise popping up at various awards shows — either for “Star Wars” projects or for other works. Giancarlo Esposito was Emmy-nominated for his villainous work in “The Mandalorian,” for example,” while last year’s Best Drama Actor Emmys lineup included Mando himself, Pedro Pascal, who was cited for “The Last of Us.” With this in mind, here are eight “Star Wars” actors who could be nominated at this year’s Emmys.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has more A-list actors than any other major franchise in Hollywood, making stars of newcomers such as Simu Liu, Sebastian Stan, and Tom Holland while also weaving in veterans such as Robert Redford, Samuel L. Jackson, and Cate Blanchett. The sheer amount of talent on display across the MCU’s many movies and TV shows means that, naturally, the MCU has its fingers in every awards show pie. In other awards, you’ll always find an MCU alum or two nominated at any major awards ceremony. So, speaking of that, here are eight MCU actors past and present we think will be nominated for an Emmy this year.
Donald Glover — “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”
Okay, so admittedly Glover isn’t the first name you think of when you conjure up MCU actors, but he did feature in a scene with Holland’s Spider-Man in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” as Aaron Davis,...

Spoiler Warning: This story discusses plot developments from “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” now streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.
“You really want me to ruin this shit for you?” Donald Glover asked at an FYC panel on Tuesday, just hours after he and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” co-star Maya Erskine got grilled by Jimmy Kimmel about Variety‘s previous reporting that the stars were not expected to return.
The Season 1 finale of the spy romance ended with three muzzle flashes as John (Glover) and Jane Smith (Erskine) try to shoot their way out of being “finalized” by the spy organization that paired them up in the first place. The couple might’ve failed a few missions, but by this point in the show, they’ve finally succeeded at the most important thing — being vulnerable with one another. Too bad John is bleeding out on the floor, Jane has just one...

Brian Steel, an attorney representing Young Thug in his Georgia Rico trial, was taken into custody and sentenced to 20 days in jail after refusing to disclose how he learned about a private meeting between the judge, prosecutors, and one of the state’s witnesses, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Judge Ural Glanville, who is presiding over the trial, held Steel in contempt after the lawyer repeatedly refused to share how he learned of the meeting. Steel was subsequently sentenced to 20 days in Cobb County Jail, which he will serve out over the next 10 weekends. Steel asked that he share a cell with Young Thug so that they could work together on the case, a request that Judge Glanville approved.

Hulu has to be pretty pleased with its list of new releases for June 2024. That’s because it’s about to be the summer of The Bear once again.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go as she envisioned and she became the first contestant from Season 28 to self-eliminate.
While Lexi is single, she’s not focused on her personal life. Instead, she’s trying to help other women in Atlanta find love.
The 30-year-old has a new project called Hot & Single Atlanta and has many applicants eager to find their special someone.
A few days ago, Lexi put out a post asking people to nominate single men who they thought would be a great partner to someone, and she received over 300 applications.

“The primary thing when I talked to Donald Glover at the start of this was, he said that the show is about trust,” reveals”Mr. and Mrs. Smith” composer David Fleming. For our recent webchat he adds, “trusting your professional partner, trusting your romantic partner; it really was trying to tell those two stories, of their relationship as spies and their blossoming romance as one story and the music had to serve both purposes.” We talked with Fleming as part of Gold Derby’s special “Meet the Experts” Q&a event with 2024 awards contenders. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s 2005 hit movie has finally been adapted into a TV show after several stop-start attempts. Created by Donald Glover and his “Atlanta” colleague Francesca Sloane, the series follows two secret agents who go undercover as a married couple in order to complete missions for a mysterious organization.
Glover stars as one half of the duo while “Pen15” star/creator Maya Erskine features as the other. Glover is reliably excellent as John Smith but it’s Erskine, as Jane Smith, who steals the show, as noted by critics.
Kristen Baldwin (Entertainment Weekly) stated: “Erskine — so wonderfully, uninhibitedly awkward in ‘PEN15’ — brings a riveting stillness to Jane. Her character’s inscrutable mien keeps John and the audience a little off-balance, though Erskine reveals glimmers of emotional desolation in Jane’s steady gaze.”

Multiple trades are reporting that the Con Air and Being John Malkovich star has boarded Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four in an undisclosed role. This news follows the announcement that Paul Walter Houser has also joined the ensemble.
Details on his character are also being kept under wraps, but there's a lot of speculation that he might be playing the villainous Mole Man. As for Malkovich, there are several supporting parts that have yet to be announced, including Galactus (unlikely) and Doctor Franklin Storm.
Both actors join Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning) as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing.

Donald Glover and Maya Erskine are forces to be reckoned with together in Prime Video’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith. But when they have to face off against each other, things really heat up.
Created by Glover and Francesca Sloane — the two previously collaborated on the hit FX series Atlanta — Mr. and Mrs. Smith follows two strangers who are paired as a married couple as they both begin new careers as spies. Known as John and Jane Smith, they are forced to get close to one another as they face the world’s criminal underbelly together. Throughout the eight-episode series, Glover and Erskine are part of this delicate dance between strangers, not knowing how close one can get or if they can trust one another. As their bond grows, they evolve into a butt-kicking duo who eventually fall in love and, as always, that’s when the stakes are highest.
