The film is sundar and risky but not susheel
Siddharth Malhotra is somebody I lost faith in after Ek Villain when it comes to acting and it can become as basic as it can get. The trailer had zero expectations for me thinking that this could be another box office flop of 2017.
So a sales executive named Gaurav Kapoor who resides in Miami and lives a very peaceful life. He buys a big house and holds a job at a firm. He is a neat freak as well as a perfectionist and drives a minivan must to the dismay of his girl like friend Kavya.
In another parallel story is a man named Rishi in a double role who works for an illegal agency called X who does dirty work for the government which is operated by Colonel. How these 2 people's stories collide and how it results in is basically what this film is about.
Quite to my surprise, this film is pretty decent based on its writing in some way as well as the action sequences. The first half until interval keeps the flow of the film consistent and unapologetic which made the film popcorn wise gripping but the 2nd half makes it too far-fetched and the ending just makes it too simplistically uneven which ruins a full potential script at about 25% of it.
The acting in the movie cracked eggs.
The tattoos in the movie on Siddharth's body managed to outdo his performance throughout the film.
Jacqueline Fernandez is phenomenal to look at. Bollywood films are definitely not her cup of tea and her command of Hindi is so notoriously annoying that it proves she can't act.
Suniel Shetty, what were you smoking before you came on set? He was great as a villain in Main Hoon Na and I had some expectation for this film because of him but he wasted potential.
The man who played Jignesh bhai was pretty good and he kept me laughing almost throughout the film but wish I knew the actor's name.
The music in the movie is borderline bad so that was something that made me cringe so much.
The action sequences in the film were perfectly executed especially the Home Depot fight which was quite interesting but yeah the editing needed some work because there were some scenes in the film which were shot unrealistically.
Overall, this movie is decent and does have a lot of flaws but it should do some justice to your weekend but based on my opinion, my rating for A Gentleman should fall in the one time watch category.
3/5- I like where the directors Raj and DK are going but needs more work in terms of casting.
