In the realm of contemporary cinema, few directors have carved out a niche as distinctive as Yorgos Lanthimos. Known for his unique vision and absurdist storytelling, this Greek auteur has made waves in Hollywood with films that both confound and captivate audiences. An Unconventional Style Lanthimos’s journey to mainstream success began with ‘The Lobster’, his first English-language film in 2016. A surreal exploration of societal norms, it quickly garnered a cult following. Following this, he delivered critically acclaimed films like The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Favourite, and most recently, Poor Things. Each film reinforces his commitment to absurdity...

Kinds of Kindness is director and writer Yorgos Lanthimos’ newest feature, fresh off the back of Poor Things success. Poor Things, labeled by many as his most accessible film to date, was nominated for an Academy Award in eleven categories and won in four. Kinds of Kindness sees him teaming back up with co-writer Efthymis Fillippou, who he has collaborated with on prior projects including The Lobster (2015), The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017) and Dogtooth (2009). As can be expected, Kinds of Kindness is much more reminiscent of his older works, allowing his quirkier and less digestible storytelling to come through. A triptych fable following a man without choice who tries to take control of his life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing at sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, Kinds of Kindness...

In director Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Kinds of Kindness” there are, as fans of the director would expect, scenarios that push beyond rational explanations. For example in “The Death of R.M.F,” the first story in the “Kindness” triptych, the viewer doesn’t know how or why a seemingly benevolent boss (Willem Dafoe) has so much power over Robert (Jesse Plemons), who willingly submits to his employer’s bizarre requests of making love to his wife (Hong Chau) at precise times a day, secretly poisoning her drink so she never gets pregnant (she is led to believe she is infertile), and agreeing to drive his car into another vehicle at the risk of severe injury. There is a touch of the surreal, and even a pinch of the supernatural in two of the stories that follow, but more than anything Lanthimos is able to drop the viewer into the middle of...

Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos’ next film, Bugonia, will premiere in November 2025, and will star Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.
Greek auteur Yorgos Lanthimos is following up the acclaimed Poor Things with an anthology film, Kinds Of Kindness this month. But before the latter film’s even been released, the date for his next film has been announced: Focus Features has said that Bugonia, starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons, will premiere in US cinemas on the 7th November 2025.
A film Lanthimos has had in the works for a while, Bugonia is a remake of the 2003 South Korean sci-fi comedy, Save The Green Planet!. The original, a hit in its home country, was about a deranged man who, convinced of an imminent alien invasion, kidnaps an executive in the mistaken belief that he’s one of the invaders.

Yorgos Lanthimos has firmly established himself as a distinctive voice in contemporary cinema. Renowned for his audacious narratives and unconventional storytelling, he has crafted films that remain etched in the viewer’s mind. However, his latest offering, Kinds of Kindness, misses the mark despite its intriguing premise. Kinds of Kindness marks a reunion between Lanthimos and Efthimis Filippou, known for their collaborative efforts on Dogtooth, The Lobster, and The Killing of a Sacred Deer. The film presents a triptych of stories that delve into the depths of human loneliness and despair, featuring actors like Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, and Emma Stone...

Bugonia, Yorgos Lanthimos’ next film, to star Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons, will be released wide in the U.S. on Nov. 7, 2025, Focus Features said Tuesday.
Universal Pictures will release Bugonia internationally, excluding Korea, where Cj Enm will handle the local release. The film, written by Will Tracy, follows two conspiracy-obsessed men who kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth.
Bugonia sees Lanthimos leave his recent home of Searchlight Pictures, which has released many of his films, including the Oscar winners Poor Things and The Favourite as well as the upcoming Kinds of Kindness. Lanthimos’ latest movie is based on the South Korean sci-fi comedy Save the Green Planet!, written and directed by Jang Joon-Hwan and produced by Sidus.
Stone also worked with Lanthimos on The Favourite and Poor Things, while Plemons and Stone appear in Kinds of Kindness.

[Editor’s note: This list was originally published in December. It has since been updated to include new films from the director.]
Yorgos Lanthimos’ films all look different from each other, but they feel the same. Since the Greek director has made the transition from independent Greek cinema to larger Hollywood productions, the washed-out, largely white palettes and simple trappings of his earliest films have given way to more sumptuous cinematography and staging. Even the frills of thrillers like “The Lobster” and “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” feel bare-bones compared to his recent embrace of the costume drama with “The Favourite” and “Poor Things,” both of which feature alternatively gorgeous and (intentionally!) garish production design and costuming.
But when you look past the budget and the aesthetics of each film, every movie that Lanthimos has made feels like they share a similar cinematic language. The characters in his films tend to communicate through stilted but natural dialogue that often tilts toward deadpan, and hide their cruelty behind politeness and social niceties.

“It didn’t really start as a story about family dysfunction and such. In the beginning, I was wondering about family life and parenting in general and if the way we think about it would ever really change.”
In an interview with Pamela Jahn of Electric Sheep Magazine, Yorgos Lanthimos muses on his initial thought process behind the creation of his acclaimed 2009 absurdist family drama Dogtooth. In the above quote, the director who would come to be known to English-speaking audiences through hilariously nightmarish features like The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Poor Things, and the upcoming Kinds of Kindness explains how the idea of Dogtooth slowly began to form after a conversation with some soon-to-be-newlywed friends.
In the wake of their union, Lanthimos would make some slight and friendly jabs at their decision to marry and start a family despite the high chances of divorce. A joke on his part,...

Plot: A trilogy of darkly comedic tales surrounding a businessman who can’t make decisions for himself, a police officer who thinks his wife has been replaced by someone else, and a pair of cult members on the lookout for the next messiah.
Review: Is Yorgos Lanthimos messing with us? That was the inescapable thought roaming around my head as I watched Kinds of Kindness, the Poor Things director’s latest morbid take on love, personal freedom, and those bizarre creatures known as human beings.. The answer to the question is… probably. And even if he isn’t messing with us, he knows it seems like he is.
If that doesn’t make much sense right off the bat, well, neither does Kinds of Kindness, at least not after only one viewing. Cheeky and uninterested in supplying an orthodox moviegoing experience, the film finds Lanthimos in the same mood he...

Who is “Kinds of Kindness,” the brain-bending new film from director Yorgos Lanthimos, for? While it may not be for those swept up by the queenly regalia of “The Favourite” or the dystopic steampunk Victorianism of “Poor Things,” remember that those films made audiences uncomfortable, too: With a wickedly perverse sense of humor that often erupts in violence. (First reactions at Cannes called it a “dark” and “twisted” return to Lanthimos’ early form.)
That’s the modus operandi of “Kinds of Kindness,” which stars Jesse Plemons, Emma Stone, and Willem Dafoe, and tells three tales of subsumed identity, cultlike bewitchment, and fleshly appetites, kinky sex, and all the gamut of self-aware Lanthimos weirdness. Here, he’s not working with screenwriter Tony McNamara. Instead, the Oscar-nominated Greek director is back behind the camera with Efthimis Filippou, his dear friend and beloved co-writer of films including the breakout “Dogtooth” (about three adult...

Yorgos Lanthimos’ latest film Kinds of Kindness debuted at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival following Oscars buzz for the director’s film Poor Things. The filmmaker’s last project to premiere at the French festival was The Killing of a Sacred Deer starring Nicole Kidman, Barry G. Bernson, Herb Caillouet, Bill Camp, Colin Farrell, Barry Keoghan, Alicia Silverstone and more. Kinds of Kindness marks reunions with Emma Stone, Joe Alwyn, Margaret Qualley and Willem Dafoe for the director. This will be Stone’s third film with Lanthimos, and her second Lanthimos film co-starring with Joe Alwyn after 2018’s The Favourite.

Shot while in post-production on Poor Things, Yorgos Lanthimos’s Kinds of Kindness shares with its predecessor a preoccupation with the struggle to achieve autonomy in a bounded world. While the film does mark a return to the austere aesthetics of earlier Lanthimos films like Dogtooth and The Lobster, the more operative change that supersedes and to a degree governs that aesthetic recourse is the swapping out of Tony McNamara, the writer of Poor Things and co-writer of The Favourite, for Efthimis Filippou, who collaborated with Lanthimos on the scripts for The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Lobster, Alps, and Dogtooth.
Readers familiar with Lanthimos’s work will easily recognize the stark tonal divide between these groups of films. Stars: Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, Hunter Schafer | Written by Yorgos Lanthimos, Efthimis Filippou | Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos
Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos reteams with stars Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley for this bizarre triptych of stories that are simultaneously surreal, disturbing and darkly funny. Co-written by Efthimis Filippou, who previously collaborated with Lanthimos on Dogtooth, The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer, the film marks a thrilling return to the director’s signature strangeness and the unsettling sensibilities of the Greek Weird Wave.
Set in present-day New Orleans, Kinds of Kindness tells three separate stories, with each cast member playing three different characters. The stories are nominally linked by a character named in their titles, though there is very little narrative overlap, only repeated echoes of themes, lines and images.

Just a few months after his eccentric alt-history sci-fi movie "Poor Things" swept the Oscars with four wins (including a Best Actress award for lead Emma Stone), director Yorgos Lanthimos is back with a new film. "Kinds of Kindness" once again stars Stone, alongside her fellow "Poor Things" performers Margaret Qualley and Willem Dafoe. And the talent doesn't stop there, with Jesse Plemons ("Breaking Bad"), Hong Chau ("The Whale"), Joe Alwyn ("The Favourite"), Mamoudou Athie ("Archive 81"), and Hunter Schafer ("Euphoria") also in the mix.
Lanthimos will really be getting the most out of that stellar cast by having each actor in three different roles. Colin Farrell is a versatile Irish actor who has excelled in a variety of genres, from action films to dramas and from wild comedies to very very dark comedies.
Farrell has had the good fortune to work with many of the best directors out there, including Terence Malick and Steven Spielberg. Two writers/directors in particular have been instrumental in pushing Farrell to new artistic ground. Martin McDonagh directed Farrell to his first Golden Globe win (Best Actor for “In Bruges”), and Yorgos Lanthimos led Farrell to his second Best Actor Globe nomination, this time for “The Lobster.”
And most recently, he has received acclaim for “The Banshees of Inisherin” with his first Oscar nomination and become a DC villain in “The Batman.”

As the 77th Cannes Film Festival (May 14-25) arrives at its halfway point, here is THR executive editor of awards Scott Feinberg’s assessment of the awards prospects — at the Cannes closing ceremony and later in the fall — of the films that have screened at the fest so far.
The Two That Popped
One cannot know what the specific preferences and priorities of the Greta Gerwig-led main competition jury are, but one can categorically state that two competition films — both of which are so original and out-there that they have to be seen to be believed — have been particularly well received. Both garnered nine-minute standing ovations and rave reviews, including particular praise for their leading lady.

Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons are hungry, wolfing down sandwiches at the start of our “Kinds of Kindness” interview. They’re in Cannes to promote the singular three-part anthology film, which has been well-received. They laugh a lot. She’s a Yorgos Lanthimos veteran, and just won her second Oscar embodying the free-spirited Bella Baxter in “Poor Things.” After that, it seems, nothing will faze her and she’ll do anything for her soulmate director. Announced at Cannes: Their next movie to be shot this summer, “Bugonia” (Focus Features), a remake of a Korean thriller, co-starring Plemons.

This one is for the true Lanthimites, the Dogtooth sisters, the biscuit women, The Killing of a Sacred Deer heads, a film to which the callbacks are so abundant that one can’t help but wonder what the connection is for writer-director Yorgos Lanthimos and co-screenwriter Efthimis Filippou behind the scenes, outside of simply sharing tones and themes that all of their other films share. Regardless, the director as we knew him pre-Emma Stone is back (relatively speaking). And this time… with Emma Stone!
In his eighth feature, old and new Lanthimos merge, the former reflected in story scope, unreal realism, and bone-dry Greek comedy, all wrapped up in the much-felt return of Filippou, with whom he last wrote Sacred Deer just before he launched into the Hollywood stratosphere with Tony McNamara and The Favourite, the dawn of his Emma Stone collaboration-turned-creative-partnership. And the latter is reflected in, well,...

Jesse Plemons has become an undisputed auteur’s favorite. The 36-year-old star’s beguiling unshowiness onscreen has landed him memorable parts in films from Paul Thomas Anderson (The Master), Steven Spielberg (Bridge of Spies, The Post), Martin Scorsese (The Irishman, Killers of the Flower Moon), Charlie Kaufman (I’m Thinking of Ending Things), Adam McKay (Vice) and Jane Campion (The Power of the Dog), among so many others. Arguably even more viewers know him from his indelible work on the small screen, which began with his breakthrough role on NBC’s Friday Night Lights, continued through AMC’s landmark hit series Breaking Bad and culminated with an Emmy nomination for FX’s Fargo, where he met his wife, actress and co-star Kirsten Dunst.
Plemons touched down for the Cannes Film Festival on Friday for the world premiere of Yorgos Lanthimos’ Kinds of Kindness, the acclaimed Greek director’s follow-up to his multi-Oscar-winning period fantasy Poor Things.

The 2024 Cannes Film Festival is still going full steam, with deals and screenings galore. We’ve got the first responses to some highly anticipated projects including the new films from Emma Stone and Nicolas Cage, a filmmaker weighing in on the Harvey Weinstein conviction reversal and a studio going all in on a single filmmaker.
“Kinds of Kindness” Confounds
Yorgos Lanthimos, just a few months since his bizarre, female-empowerment madcap science fiction movie “Poor Things” scooped up four Oscars (including Best Actress for Emma Stone), debuted his new film, “Kinds of Kindness.”
The movie reunites the filmmaker with his frequent writing partner, Efthimis Filippo, and his muse, Emma Stone. The movie is not a straightforward narrative but an anthology film comprised of three loosely connected storylines, where the actors play different characters in each segment. (This is Searchlight’s big summer movie; it’s going up against the new “Quiet Place” prequel.

Yorgos Lanthimos can’t stop (won’t stop!) working with Oscar winner Emma Stone, casting the actress once again as leading lady for his next project “Bugonia.”
The drama will also star Jesse Plemons who, along with Stone, appears in Lanthimos’ forthcoming “Kinds of Kindness.” That three-chapter feature just premiered on Friday at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
“Bugonia” follows two conspiracy-obsessed young men who kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth. The script is from heat-seeking “Succession” and “The Menu” writer Will Tracy.
Focus Features has won domestic rights to distribute the project. Universal Pictures will roll out the film in global territories, save Korea where “Parasite” producer Cj Enm will release. The latter is financing the film with Fremantle. CAA Media Finance and WME Independent brokered the rights deal.
This package is loaded with pedigree.

Yorgos Lanthimos’ Kinds Of Kindness has landed top of Screen International’s Cannes jury grid with an average score of 2.4.
The triptych drama is the first film so far to receive a four (excellent), both from Le Meduza’s Anton Dolin and Screen’s own critic. Others were less convinced with Mathieu Macharet (France’s Le Monde) and Stephanie Zacharek (US Time) both giving it just one (poor).

At this point, any actor signing on for a Yorgos Lanthimos film knows they wont be resting on their laurels. Literally. One of his trademarks is a kind of heightened physicality — whether its Rachel Weisz and Joe Alwyn twerking in “The Favourite,” Emma Stone “furious jumping” in “Poor Things” or Nicole Kidman lending a man a hand, so to speak, in a parking lot in “The Killing of a Sacred Deer.”
This kind of movement, be it awkward, sexy or just bizarre, came up on Saturday during the Cannes Film Festival press conference for Lanthimos’ latest, “Kinds of Kindness.” Reunited with Stone, Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley, and newcomers Jesse Plemons, Mamoudou Athie, Hunter Schafer and Hong Chau, the new project sees the acting troupe engage in group sex, hardcore breakdancing, reckless driving and some light cannibalism. Another day on a Lanthimos set.

Kinds Of Kindness (2024) Yorgos Lanthimos
After the uproar Megalopolis caused, day four at the Cannes Film Festival was bound to pale in comparison. Nevertheless, it was a busy time at the Croisette, with three Main Competition films making their bows. First was Emanuel Pârvu's Three Miles to the End of the World, which was thought to be a strong contender for the Queer Palm before being met with tepid reviews. Next was Yorgos Lanthimos' Kinds of Kindness, an anthological reunion between the director and his erstwhile writing partner, Efthymis Filippou. The well-reviewed picture marks their first collaboration since 2017. Finally, beloved auteur and Facebook nuisance Paul Schrader presented Oh, Canada, ruminating on mortality and regret.
Walking down memory lane into these directors' past work, let's consider a tryptic bound by themes of guilt. They're Pârvu's Mikado, Lanthimos' The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and Schrader's Light Sleeper…...

After his sortie with fantastical drama Poor Things (garlanded with no less than four Oscars), Greek auteur Yorgos Lanthimos returns with Emma Stone in Kinds Of Kindness which is more in touch with the sensibilities and ethos of his arresting earlier works such as The Lobster, The Killing Of A Sacred Deer and Dogtooth.
Kinds Of Kindness consists of three interconnecting stories all of which display his idiosyncratic flights of fancy. In the first Jesse Plemons, who has the demeanour of a young Philip Seymour Hoffman, is in the thrall of his tyrant of a boss (Willem Dafoe), who exerts control over every detail of his life. When he is asked to do an unthinkable task he discovers that a woman (played by Emma Stone) is in the same dilemma. Finally he is unsure if he actually wants the freedom at the end of the tunnel.
In the second segment Plemons again.

Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Kinds of Kindness,” starring Emma Stone, freaked out Cannes Film Festival on Friday night with an anthology of stories about sex cults, cannibalism and general debauchery.
Lanthimos’ follow-up to “Poor Things” earned a 4.5-minute standing ovation, with the director and his cast — including Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Mamoudou Athie and Joe Alwyn — leaving while the applause was still going. “Kinds of Kindness” tells three distinctive stories with cast members playing different roles in each. There were a few walkouts during the Cannes premiere, most of them coming after the film’s gorier, second chapter. Lanthimos abruptly left the screening and didn’t speak to audience members once the clapping stopped.

Yorgos Lanthimos revealed his particular brand of niceness as the Cannes Film Festival presented the world premiere of his twisted Kinds of Kindness on Friday night.
The film, which reunites The Favourite and Poor Things director Lanthimos and star Emma Stone, was greeted with a 4-minute ovation inside the packed Grand Lumiere Theatre. As far as Cannes ovations go, that’s on the short end of the spectrum (Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis clocked in at 10 minutes Thursday night, while at Venice last year, Lanthimos’ Poor Things received minutes of cheers). Still, basking in the applause were Lanthimos and Stone, fellow Poor Things alums Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley, plus Jesse Plemons, Mamoudou Athie, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn and Hunter Schafer. Others in attendance including Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Nomadland filmmaker Chloe Zhao and Ukrainian 20 days in Mariupol documentarian Mstyslav Chernov.

The latest Yorgos Lanthimos / Emma Stone team-up, a film called Kinds of Kindness (previously known as And), is set to reach theatres on June 21st – but first, it’s having its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, which is now underway. The first reviews of Kinds of Kindness are now arriving online, and they’re describing this 165 minute “triptych fable” as dark, bizarre, insidious, intriguing, brilliant, bonkers, disturbing, puzzling, funny, surreal, creepy, mind-bending, twisted, and innovative. We have rounded up some of them below led by one from our own Eric Walkuski!
Our man @ericwalkuski just caught #KindsofKindness: Yorgos Lanthimos' Kinds of Kindness defies easy description; it's a trilogy of morbid tales that will beguile some, repel others. Uneven as a whole, the film still has enough shock value and absurd dark humor to keep you on your…

Two-time Oscar winner Emma Stone further expands her cinematic universe alongside auteur Yorgos Lanthimos with their latest collaboration “Kinds of Kindness.”
Yet while “Poor Things” was an Academy Award-winning feature, the Cannes premiere for “Kinds of Kindness” seemed to puzzle critics and fans alike. The feature, which was originally titled “And”, is Lanthimos’ eighth film and co-stars Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Jesse Plemons, Hunter Schafer, Joe Alwyn, Hong Chau, and Mamoudou Athie.
Lanthimos previously described the contemporary anthology film as being “three different stories, with four or five actors who play one part in each story, so they all play three different parts,” which, according to the director, was “almost like making three films” in one.
Lanthimos reunited with frequent screenwriter collaborator Efthimis Filippou to pen the script for “Kinds of Kindness.” The duo previously co-wrote Lanthimos’ “Dogtooth,” “The Lobster,” “The Killing of a Sacred Deer,” and “Alps.”

Daniel is a police officer who becomes suspicious of his wife after she returns to him from being lost at sea; convinced that she’s been replaced by an impostor, he asks the supposed doppelgänger to commit increasingly demented acts of self-harm as a test of her love. Andrew is a loyal cultist whose leaders instruct him to scour the bayou area in search of a prophesied girl with the power to heal the dead.

Barry Keoghan smiled from ear to ear as Andrea Arnold’s latest film, “Bird,” earned a seven-minute standing ovation at its Cannes Film Festival premiere on Thursday.
Festival favorite Arnold, who brought the Shia Labeouf-starring “American Honey” to Cannes in 2016 and her documentary “Cow” in 2021, basked in appreciation as the audience applauded the drama. “Thank you, this is really lovely but I really want to go and party right now,” she said as laughter erupted in the room.
While Keoghan was the biggest name in “Bird,” the loudest cheers were offered to his young co-stars, including Jason Buda and Jasmine Jobson. Some of the cast, although they may have been on the red carpet outside, were too young to make it into the screening.

Irish production company Element Pictures is firing on all cylinders, as company partners Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe bring three very different pictures to Cannes.
The Yorgos Lanthimos producers are still smiling after a nail-biter Oscar night that yielded four wins for “Poor Things,” including Best Actress for Emma Stone. She also stars in all three episodes in Lanthimos’ follow-up, the $15-million black comedy “Kinds of Kindness” along with returning co-stars Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley and Lanthimos newbie Jesse Plemons, who leads the first two episodes. He gets to show what he can do throughout; Stone delivers an emotional performance in the ultimate story.
Each of the stories features the same actors, but with different emphasis. Lanthimos had his eye on Plemons for a while, said Lowe on Zoom, and finally found a film for him: “When the right thing comes along, Yorgos pounces. He’s specific about casting.

Is there a harder-working actor in the movie business than Willem Dafoe? The 68-year-old, who splits his time between Los Angeles, New York and Rome, has appeared in more than 150 films, co-starring in everything from superhero features to dozens of movie-buff favorites from David Lynch, Martin Scorsese, Lars von Trier, Paul Schrader, Oliver Stone, Julian Schnabel, Wes Anderson, Sean Baker, Spike Lee, Robert Eggers and so many more.
Fresh from his acclaimed performance in Yorgos Lanthimos‘ recent awards season favorite Poor Things, Dafoe is already returning to Cannes this month in the Greek director’s much-buzzed-about follow-up, Kinds of Kindness. Described as a surrealist fable set in the present day, the new project is an anthology film told in three parts, reuniting Lanthimos with the provocative screenwriting partner of his early career, Efthymis Filippou (Dogtooth, The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer). While many young actors are trying to get their break in Hollywood by starring in coming-of-age or young-adult movies, Barry Keoghan is one of the unique actors in the industry who are continuously choosing edgy films one after another and along the way he is proving his acting chops to almost every person in the world. The Irish actor appeared in Marvel superhero flick Eternals and then took on the role of Batman’s most famous villain, the Joker, in the new Matt Reeves film The Batman. The young actor has also worked with multiple accomplished industry directors like Christopher Nolan, Emerald Fennell, and Yorgos Lanthimos. So, if you think you are also slowly becoming a fan of this guy check out these 10 movies that are his best.

Element Pictures is coming off the back of yet another buzzy awards season with its absurdist comedy Poor Things, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, notching 11 Oscar nominations and coming home with four wins, including Best Actress for Emma Stone. But just when it feels like the company’s trajectory can’t get higher, the Irish-Anglo production, distribution and exhibition banner is hitting the Croisette this year with no less than three films in the Cannes official selection. Lanthimos’s Kinds of Kindness, which reunites him with his long-term writing partner Efthimis Fillipou and Poor Things stars Stone and Willem Dafoe, will compete for the Palme d’Or, while French actor Ariane Labed’s directorial debut September Says and I Am Not a Witch director Rungano Nyoni’s sophomore feature On Becoming A Guinea Fowl are both screening in the Un Certain Regard section.

Being recognized as one of the most talented young actresses of the 21st century, Mia Goth presents horror as her trademark genre. Starting from A Cure for Wellness (2016), the actress has been proving that she impeccably fits in the genre, continuing the fruitful trend of her career with the incredibly successful 2022 slashers X and Pearl.
However, there is a lesser-known 2023 horror movie, where Goth fully reveals her potential as the genre’s queen. Despite its sophisticated nature, it definitely appears to be a must-watch for all fans of the actress and for the most curious cinephiles.
Set in an isolated island resort, it focuses on the married couple, the writer in a creative crisis and his unhappy wife, coming there on a vacation. They meet Goth’s mysterious Gabi, who starts to show them the other side of the resort alongside her husband.

Nicole Kidman has captivated audiences with her spellbinding acting for over 40 years and has excelled in theatre, film, and television. Not only is she an accomplished producer but a five-time Academy Award nominee. Her role as Virginia Woolf in The Hours (2002) earned her the Oscar for Best Actress in 2002.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1967, she began her career in Australia as a teenager with roles in Bush Christmas (1983) and BMX Bandits (1983). Her performance in Dead Calm (1989) would grab the attention of Hollywood, and Tom Cruise, casting her in her breakout role as neurologist Dr. Claire Lewicki, in Days of Thunder (1990).
Her trajectory to establishing herself among Hollywood’s A-List continued as she starred alongside Cruise again in Far and Away (1992), mastered her comedic acting chops as an aspiring television personality in Gus Van Sant’s black comedy, To Die For (1995), and portrayed another doctor in the superhero film Batman Forever (1995), opposite Val Kilmer.

Emma Stone is back with director Yorgos Lanthimos for “Kinds of Kindness,” the movie they shot in secret in New Orleans in fall 2022. Stone won the Best Actress Oscar this year for Lanthimos’ “Poor Things,” which was in post-production and readying for fall festivals by the time “Kinds of Kindness” had wrapped. Watch the latest trailer for the “Kinds of Kindness,” which was just confirmed to premiere in competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, below.

Two of the newest heartthrobs in Hollywood’s entertainment industry, Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan, are once again making rounds on the internet. Though this time, it isn’t because of their remarkable onscreen performances, but rather because of all the rumors indicating there’s more going on between them than what the eyes can see.

While reports about the pair’s rumored relationship have been swirling in the air since March this year, Keoghan seems to have further added fuel to that already raging fire. This comes after the Masters of the Air actor left a rather flirty comment on his rumored girlfriend’s most recent steamy photos on her social media in Kim Kardashian’s Skims lingerie.

Private Investigator John Sugar (Colin Farrell) wears a black suit for all occasions and never drives anything but his classic Corvette. He’s unflappably calm, prefers to listen rather than talk, and absolutely doesn’t know how to let a case go once he’s started working on it—especially if it involves a missing woman. Watching Sugar, it’s as if one of Humphrey Bogart or Glenn Ford’s hardboiled gumshoes stepped straight out of their smoky, monochrome realm and into our full-color world of smartphones and social media.
Though Sugar is set in modern-day L.A., the series finds him tasked with a case suited to his anachronistic sensibilities. In fact, it’s one cribbed straight from The Big Sleep: A rich, reclusive movie producer, Jonathan Siegel (James Cromwell), hires Sugar to track down his wild-child granddaughter, Olivia (Sydney Chandler). Poor Things stars Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe reunite with Yorgos Lanthimos for the first look at Kinds of Kindness.
A teaser for the “triptych fable,” previously titled And, gave fans a first look at the film, which in its official synopsis follows “a man without a choice who tries to take control of his life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.”
“This is it. The moment of truth,” says Stone in a voiceover as a purple sports car drifts. The 45-second teaser gives glimpses at each of the film’s stars, many of whom are previous Lanthimos collaborators — Margaret Qualley, Joe Alwyn, Hong Chau, Mamoudou Athie and Hunter Schafer.
