Edward Bluemel, the “Killing Eve” and “Sex Education” star most recently seen as the brooding love interest in Amazon’s alt-history fantasy “My Lady Jane,” has joined the cast of Netflix’s upcoming Agatha Christie series “The Seven Dials Mystery.”
Bluemel joins “How to Have Sex” breakout Mia McKenna-Bruce, who Variety announced last month would lead the whodunnit, written by “Broadchurch” creator and former “Doctor Who” showrunner Chris Chibnall.

Jodie Comer looked jaw-dropping as she stuck to classic black for a photo shoot now sitting at over 140,000 likes on her Instagram. The 31-year-old actress, whose Killing Eve fame is now topped by her starring in the 2023 movie The Bikeriders, went slinky in a shirtless blazer dress last year, rocking the sheer trend and shouting out a well-known brand. Upping her designer game in Gucci, Jodie name-dropped the Italian label in her caption, even going as far as saying this was the Gucci "look of my dreams." Jodie's fame has been attracting an increasing array of high-end brands — back in February 2023, it was Burberry getting a mention as the blonde was invited to its Fashion Show.

Longlegs star Nicolas Cage voiced the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man Noir in the animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and now he’s set to play the character in live-action for an upcoming MGM+ and Prime Video series that appears to be going by the title Spider-Noir. During an interview with The New Yorker, Cage dropped some quotes about Spider-Noir, mentioning that the show is expected to consist of eight episodes… and it will involve monsters.
Spider-Noir first came up in the conversation when Cage was asked if he sees himself as part of a category of actors. He said, “The fantasy would be that I could try to aspire to be something more Golden Age. You know, something more like James Cagney or Humphrey Bogart. Or Hedy Lamarr or Bette Davis. I wanted to have that kind of aura, you know, like the more enigmatic, you don’t know too much.

After being rumored last week, Variety has confirmed that Academy Award-nominee Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin; Edge of Tomorrow; Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) has joined the cast of Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios' upcoming Spider-Noir live-action series as the show's lead villain.
Further details on his role were unavailable, but it seems probable that he'll be playing Spider-Man Noir's archnemesis Norman Osborn, who in this universe is a ruthless crime lord, with a vast criminal empire that is involved in a variety of illegal enterprises, including, but not limited to, bootlegging, gambling, and human trafficking. His activities ultimately put him in the path of our hero, who, throughout the comic miniseries, is seeking to bring justice to the corrupt and crime-ridden streets of New York.

Lamorne Morris has joined the cast of the Spider-Man Noir series, now dubbed Spider-Noir, in a series regular role. The former New Girl star will play Robbie Robertson, a driven and hard-working journalist who won’t take no for an answer.

He is willing to do whatever is necessary for his career.” The character was previously brought to life in live-action by Bill Nunn in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. After rumours last week, it has also been confirmed that Brendan Gleeson will join the cast. He’s said to be playing the villain.

After movies like The Fall Guy and Furiosa made their home debuts mere weeks after their theatrical premieres, Jeff Nichols’ period drama The Bikeriders joins the pack as it revs up to hit digital outlets tomorrow. The film garnered much praise from critics, including our own Chris Bumbray, who said in his review, “This is the rare film where I almost hope there’s a more extended version, as I found some of the side characters fascinating and worth further development. […] It’s rare I look at my watch during a movie hoping there’s more or it left, but that’s what happened to me here quite a bit, so take that as high praise.”
The press release from Universal reads,
“Loyalty, power, and brotherhood collide in Focus Features’ ‘must-see summer movie’ (USA Today) that critics are calling ‘Goodfellas on Harley-Davidsons’ (Indiewire). The Bikeriders is available for the first...

Francine Maisler, longtime collaborator with Aaron Sorkin and Steven Soderbergh and casting director for “The Revenant,” “The Big Short,” “Little Women,” “Dune” and “The Bikeriders,” says she’s always been obsessed with performance.
“I’m always looking and seeing and my eye is taken with things,” she says.
“I love the theater,” she told an audience at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival this week, recalling being “mesmerized” by actors onstage long before she had the inkling to follow her career path.
Sorkin has said, “Francine has an eye for talent like no one I’ve ever met,” to which Maisler jokes, “We fight all the time.”

According to scooper Daniel Richtman, Brendan Gleeson has reportedly been cast in a villain role for Spider-Man Noir, the upcoming live-action series greenlit by MGM+ and Prime Video in May.
There are no details on which villain Brendan Gleeson may be playing in Spider-Man Noir or if he will be an original creation, but the actor is always a welcome addition to any project; I hope this one pans out. The series will star Nicolas Cage as an “aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.” Cage first voiced the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, where he frequently stole the show, so fans have been pumped to see him bring the character into the realm of live-action.

The 'Elvis' actor tried out for the role of Peeta Mellark in the 2012 dystopian action movie, but he lost out to Josh Hutcherson. He told BuzzFeed: "I auditioned for 'The Hunger Games' and I didn’t get it at all. "I don’t even think I got a call back, what’s the character, Peeta? Josh Hutcherson got that, he’s great.Butler’s 'The Bikeriders' co-star Jodie Comer also admitted she once missed out on a huge film franchise, when she auditioned for 'Mamma Mia!' around the same time she was trying out for spy thriller TV series 'Killing Eve', which went on to catapult her into the limelight. Harry Potter is a timeless franchise that will be savored for decades to come. Whether you’re 5, 15, or 50, the books are enough to impress just about anyone, and that’s the magic of Harry Potter. On top of that, the movies are some of the best live-action adaptations out there. It was in April 2023 that we first learned of plans to reboot Harry Potter for streaming and Warner Bros. Discovery has since embarked on a lengthy quest to find a creative team for the decade-long series.
Yesterday, the news broke that the show has moved from Max to the HBO cable network and we now have a confirmed showrunner, producers, and director (via SFFGazette.com).
HBO, in association with Warner Bros. Television, has named Francesca Gardiner as showrunner and executive producer, and Mark Mylod as executive producer and director of multiple episodes of the upcoming original series.
A brief logline has also been released which reads, "The series will be a faithful adaptation of the beloved 'Harry Potter' book series by author and executive producer J.K. Rowling. HBO and Warner Bros. have taken a major leap forward with the upcoming "Harry Potter" TV show. The companies have officially named Francesca Gardiner as showrunner and executive producer of the series. Meanwhile, Mark Mylod has been set as an executive producer and director of multiple episodes of the show.
This ambitious "Harry Potter" show was first announced by Warner Bros. Discovery last year. The idea is to re-adapt all of the books spanning a full decade of television. That means Gardiner and Mylod are presumably in this for the long haul, as it will take consistency to ensure this series stays on track. The as-yet-unannounced cast will age quickly, meaning there won't be room for any lengthy delays or multi-year breaks between seasons. No pressure. But that's likely why these are the creatives at the top, as they've both proven their ability to work well in the HBO system time and time again.

HBO’s long-developing Harry Potter series has locked in two key members of its creative team.
The series has named Francesca Gardiner as its writer and showrunner and tapped Mark Mylod to direct multiple episodes. Both are Emmy winners for HBO’s Succession — Gardiner as part of the show’s producing team and Mylod as both director and producer.
Gardiner’s credits as a writer and producer also include His Dark Materials at HBO, Killing Eve at BBC America and The Rook at Starz. Mylod has directed episodes of Game of Thrones and the upcoming second season of The Last of Us for HBO, as well as feature film The Menu and Showtime’s Shameless and The Affair, among others.

“Succession” alums Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod are here for “Harry Potter.” Gardiner has been tapped to serve as showrunner and executive producer of HBO’s upcoming new untitled series based on the “Harry Potter” books, while Mylod is on board to direct multiple episodes, as well as executive produce.

The Harry Potter television series is starting to take shape.
Succession duo Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod have signed up as its writer and director, respectively.
This comes four months after Deadline revealed that Gardiner was one of three finalists to win the prize to reboot the classic kids franchise for the small screen. Gardiner beat Tom Moran and Kathleen Jordan to win the gig.
Gardiner, who was a consulting producer on Season 3 and Season 4 of the Brian Cox-led family drama, will serve as showrunner and exec producer, while Mylod, who directed over a dozen episodes of the show, will direct multiple episodes and also exec produce.
It comes after it emerged that Harry Potter was moving from a Max original to an HBO original as part of a strategy rethink at the Warner Bros Discovery business. The series is slated for a 2026 bow.

It’s well-proven that Emmy winner Jodie Comer excels at accent work.
The actor’s Russian accent as psychopathic assassin Villanelle in “Killing Eve” was so good that playwright Suzie Miller nearly passed on her to star in “Prima Facie” because the play was written for someone from Liverpool.. Now, in Jeff Nichols’ latest film, “The Bikeriders,” about the rise and fall of a Midwestern motorcycle club in the 1960s, she puts on a working-class Chicago accent to play Kathy, a strong-willed woman who falls for a free-spirited biker named Benny (Austin Butler) and finds herself competing with Johnny (Tom Hardy), the club’s leader, for his attention and devotion.
The Searchlight movie is inspired by the 1967 photography book “The Bikeriders” by Danny Lyon, who captured the story of the Vandals motorcycle club. He’d recorded interviews with members of the club too, so Comer had about 30 minutes of the...

The Bikeriders starring Killing Eve’s star Jodie Comer has just hit the cinemas worldwide, but there’s another big news for the actress’ fans.
Following its invariable tradition of dropping more flicks and shows every week, Netflix has just added Comer’s other big hit of the year The End We Start From, though so far it’s only available for the audience in the UK and Ireland.
However, the movie can also be checked out elsewhere as it’s become a recent arrival for various platforms.
Also starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Mark Strong, The End We Start From follows the main character who goes just as Woman and whose serene future life with her newborn son Zeb is completely ruined by an environmental crisis that causes a flood in London.

In this week’s episode of The Discourse, host Mike DeAngelo goes on a joyride with one of the stars of “The Bikeriders.” The film follows the members of a Chicago-area biker gang from their innocent inception in the 1960s to their descent into a darker underworld. The Jeff Nichols (“Mud,” “Midnight Special,” “Take Shelter”) film stars Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon, Norman Reedus, Boyd Holbrook, and more.

British actress Jodie Comer, 31, is a rising star. After breaking out as a sociopathic Russian assassin in “Killing Eve” (BBC) and co-starring with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in Ridley Scott’s “The Last Duel” (Twentieth Century/Disney), she took home a Best Actress Tony for her bravura one-woman play “Prima Facie.” So it’s no surprise that casting director Francine Maisler suggested her to writer-director Jeff Nichols.
They were looking for faces that might measure up to the Danny Lyons photography book on ’60s Chicago bikers that inspired “The Bikeriders.” They had cast Tom Hardy and Austin Butler for the motorcycle picture. The question was, could Jodie Comer nail a local Chicago accent and stand up to these powerful actors?
Apparently, she can do anything. When she first took on “Prima Facie” on the West End, she had no classical training and had appeared as a teenager in one theater production.

Disney’s “Star Wars” shows have delivered plenty of Emmy nominations so far, with the likes of “The Mandalorian,” “Andor,” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi” all garnering bids at their respective Emmy ceremonies.
“Ahsoka” is looking to join these shows by securing Emmy bids of its own and lead star Rosario Dawson looks to be the show’s best chance at a nomination. “Ahsoka” is a continuation of the animated series “Rebels,” and follows Dawson as former Jedi padawan-turned-rebel Ahsoka, who is trying to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi). The role of Ahsoka was originated by Ashley Eckstein, who voiced her in both “The Clone Wars” and “Rebels.” Dawson then took over the role in live-action form when she appeared in one episode of season two of “The Mandalorian” as well as an episode of “The Book of Boba Fett.”

The Apple TV+ drama series “Sugar” has provided a showcase for a number of its stars, with the cast led by Colin Farrell but also including terrific turns from the likes of James Cromwell and Amy Ryan.
The neo-noir detective drama follows Farrell as a private investigator who searches for the missing granddaughter of a Hollywood producer. Created by “Thor” and “I Am Legend” screenwriter Mark Protosevich, the series is an homage-filled thriller that updates and pays dividends to the noir detective genre. Ryan shines in her role as Melanie Matthews, who used to be the step-daughter of the missing Olivia and develops something of a relationship with Farrell’s detective. Ryan, who younger viewers will mostly recognize from her days in “The Office,” demonstrates her impressive versatility as a performer here, as noted by critics.

“The Crown” has been a consistent Emmy contender since its first season debuted on Netflix in 2016. Last year, its sixth season premiered on the streaming service, bringing the drama to a conclusion once and for all. We expect this season to be a big hit with Emmy voters once more and several stars could benefit from that attention, including Queen Elizabeth actress Imelda Staunton.
Staunton took over the role from Olivia Colman, who in turn inherited the character from Claire Foy. Staunton joined the show in season five and, in season six, she provided her best performance as Queen Elizabeth yet. This season takes place between 1997 and 2005 and depicts the death of Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki), the premiership of Tony Blair (Bertie Carvel) as Prime Minister, and the wedding of Prince Charles (Dominic West) and Camilla Parker Bowles (Olivia Williams). Critics agree, Staunton is excellent again as she leads the line as Queen Elizabeth.

Jodie Comer may be enjoying her greatest fame spike to date thanks to 2023-released movie The Bikeriders, but she was filming another flick back in 2020. In September of that year, the 31-year-old actress was spotted at what is assumed to be Killiney Beach in Dublin, and the swimsuit-clad photo is still live on her Instagram. Showing off her stunning natural beauty with zero makeup on and soaking wet hair, Jodie thanked Ireland for hosting her — the British star was on location to shoot action thriller The Last Duel. Fans have left over 340,000 likes.

Remember a few weeks back, when there were no major wide studio releases, and how that turned out? Expect a repeat this weekend with only one movie getting a substantially wide release as “Inside Out 2” remains in the lead. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.

Jodie Comer found it hard mastering a Chicago accent for 'The Bikeriders'.The 31-year-old star has shown a flair for accents through her work on the TV series 'Killing Eve' but admits that it was a challenge to perfect the tones of her alter ego Kathy in Jeff Nichols' picture that is based on a photo-book of the same name by Danny Lyon.Jodie told The Hollywood Reporter: "I would say that Kathy's accent is probably the hardest one that I've done. I was given 30 minutes with the real Kathy being interviewed by Danny Lyon, and I was so struck by how singular and unique her dialect and cadence was."So I started working with a dialect coach, Victoria (Hanlin), and she told me, 'All the vowel sounds are a contradiction. This is something that is entirely her own.'"And I said, 'I want to get...

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has unveiled the first wave of its honorees for this year, naming Canadian directing legend David Cronenberg as the recipient of the Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award and Amy Adams as the winner of this year’s TIFF Tribute Performer Award.
Cronenberg is among the most unique and influential filmmakers of his generation an auteur who has created a bespoke brand of intellectual horror with films such as Scanners, Videodrome, The Fly, Crash and A History of Violence. His latest, The Shrouds, premiered in competition in Cannes last month. Shawn Levy (Free Guy, Deadpool & Wolverine) received the inaugural Norman Jewison career award in 2023.
Adams, a six-time Oscar nominee (for Junebug, Doubt, The Fighter, The Master, American Hustle and Vice), will be seen next in Nightbitch, a comedy horror film from director Marielle Heller (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) adapted from Rachel Yoder’s debut novel of the same name.

Back in 2020, it was announced that Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again director Ol Parker would be following that film up by taking the helm of The Thursday Murder Club, an adaptation of the debut novel by Richard Osman (creator and co-presenter of the BBC quiz show Pointless), for Amblin. Given that Parker’s involvement was announced just days before the pandemic lockdowns, it’s not surprising to hear that iteration of the project didn’t hold together… but The Thursday Murder Club is still moving forward. A couple months ago, word came out that Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye), Helen Mirren (The Queen), and Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3) were being eyed for lead roles in the film, which is now coming our way from Home Alone and Harry Potter director Chris Columbus. Now Deadline confirms that Brosnan, Mirren, and Kingsley are on board to star in the film alongside Celia Imrie...
