Independence Day: Resurgence (2016)
What you expect from an action sci-fi movie? Fun and excitement, you'll get itl...
I am a big contestant to empty Hollywood movies, yet I cannot believe all negative comments to this moderate-level and quite fun movie and all positive comments to some empty silly movies as "Avengers: Age of Ultron". It seems we get used to see love stories in all movies... Come on guys! this is a sci-fi war movie... what you expect to see? Of course the story is simple and not brilliant, but the war sequences and special effects are acceptable. Acting seemed inferior compared to the first part but it was not disrupting to the joy of watching. In conclusion, it is worth 2 hours and a couple of dollars. IMDb ratings are surprisingly far from reality in some cases...
Deadpool (2016)
Too vulgar, too dirty...
I'll keep it short: Wise people, don't watch this! This is not for you. This is a teen movie which is paradoxically not suitable for teens! If you really plan to watch it, do it at home later. I was fooled by the meta-score... you don't be! If this kind of movies succeed in the market, we're gonna see more and more of them in the future... Unfortunately, the super hero movies are getting more vulgar and empty one after another. They abuse too much of sex, blood and violence to attract the crowd. No matter what kind of effects it might have on youngsters. The detrimental effect of this type of violent scenes on children and teen have been proved by research. I see this trend alarming...
The Hateful Eight (2015)
Just a well-made violent Western
In short, this movie is a good one as another well-acted harsh Western movie; but as an Oscar nominee and an excellent piece of cinematography! NEVER! First, the storyline has serious shortcomings. It doesn't make sense, and it's not catching in any way. Second, the level of violence is just too much. It exceeds an entertaining level and approaches a psychotic sadistic level. I don't understand why such a movie has to be praised at that level?! Third, this movie hangs on any vulgar tricks such as nudity and crazy ferocity to make up for it's weak scenario. Forth, I am not a music expert, but as an audience I would say that the music like all other parts of this movie was a bit too much in some periods (and of course nice in some, but not at the Oscar level). Fifth, while watching this movie, a thoughtful one would struggle with himself why I'm watching this?! Why such a movie has to be made in the first place? Here I'm not going to deny any of its good features like good acting and directing, but what I mean is that good actors/actresses basically, can play anything perfectly. The question is that how a director has to get them into play.
Il racconto dei racconti - Tale of Tales (2015)
Viewing a fairytale movie from another perspective
After watching this movie in cinema without having any background, I decided to share my impression about more hidden and less talked- about meaning behind it. Naturally, I will not blab on the movie- making quality, which was actually superb in every aspect. What keeps bugling up my mind is the amazing evolution in the level of our moral standards. Looking back at old fairytale, I believe, is a good way to get some sort of comparator to be able to perceive the scope of change that has happened in the way we understand violence, fairness, and good and evil. At present time, even some aged bedtime stories that are meant for amusement, are too violent to portray or to enjoy. Even I personally couldn't suppress my feelings for the big wild man (referred to as beast) who was sacrificed because of a silly decision to keep a nonsense King's word, let alone the innocent princess. Thanks to the modern morality and ethics as an indisputable fruit of scientific world-view, we are today way more aware of the darkness of violence, are far more humane, and are living in an incomparable level of peace and well-being compared to some decades ago.
