Lilia - ICSMSU President

Portrait of Lilia in Beit Quad

Hi, I’m Lilia, your ICSMSU President this year!

My role involves supporting and representing all the students in the School of Medicine at Imperial College. Along with 22 other amazing student officers, we make up your ICSMSU!

From organising Academic & Welfare support, to wonderful events like Freshers’ Fortnight, or supporting ICSMSU’s Clubs & Societies, we are here to represent our students in every capacity.

Before becoming ICSMSU President, I worked in the ICSMSU Welfare Stream as Chair and Vice Chair for Wellbeing Representatives Treasurer for two years, responsible for supporting and signposting students to welfare support and advocating for curriculum changes to support your welfare!

A bit more about me

Before joining Imperial to study medicine, I lived in Surrey! A fun fact I am half Welsh & half Algerian-French.

Outside of ICSMSU, you can often find me on stage with ICSM Light Opera or getting involved with all the wonderful clubs ICSM has to offer!

Why Imperial?

My favourite thing about Imperial is the wonderful community we have at ICSM which is filled with the most amazing and diverse people! There are always plenty of opportunities to meet students from different year groups and backgrounds and make memories that will last a lifetime.

My 2024/25 goals.

  • Uphold Student Representation by ensuring the student voice remains a central focus by encouraging student consultation and clear communication of feedback outcomes.

  • Expand Financial Accessibility through collaborating with Faculty and Alumni networks as no student should have to miss out on social or educational events due to financial barriers.

  • Introduce Robust EDI Initiatives such as an ICSMSU mentorship scheme and an ICSMSU EDI sub-committee to help amplify underrepresented voices in the community.

  • Build a Supportive & Competent ICSMSU by facilitating inter-officer learning and establishing core values which emphasize the importance of inclusivity and student representation.
