A little girl accompanies a star on a journey through the night sky, examining both heavenly bodies and the earth below. "Join our irresistible young heroine as she wishes upon a mischievous, twinkling star. Granting her wish, the little star takes her on a dazzling journey through the swirling, iridescent lights of the night sky." A familiar childhood song expanded to many verses, forming a complete story about the twinkling star and her young friend. This is an extended version of the classic poem and nursery rhyme, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. The rhyme and familiarness of this book would be best suited for children still learning to read, or even just a read-aloud book. At the back is a piano score if children want to learn how to play the song on the piano as well. Summary: This story is about a young lady who makes a wishes to fly to the sky and meet a twinkling star. The little star takes the girl on an adventure through space exploring the planets and looking down on earth sneaking peaks into the lives of others. The girl returns home to the comfort of her bed and continues to look up at the magical star. Personal Reaction: I really, really enjoyed reading this book. Almost every child can tell you the first verse and I didn't know there were so many others to go along with it. The story is easy and fun to read. The pictures take you on an adventure right along with the rhyming story. Extension Ideas: Have students make their own wish upon a star. To go along with their wish, have students write the adventure they would go on if their wish really can true. Have the students start with the first verse of this story and then complete another verse or two using their own creativity. Encourage students to share their poems with the class. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
