About us

Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one. Together, Amazonians research and develop new technologies from Amazon Web Services to Alexa on behalf of our customers: shoppers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world. Our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our actions, goals, projects, programs, and inventions begin and end with the customer top of mind. You'll also hear us say that at Amazon, it's always "Day 1." What do we mean? That our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon's very first day - to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and focus on delighting our customers.

We recently ditched almost all (95% to be exact - we're working on the rest!) of our plastic air pillows from customer deliveries in North America. Instead, we use recyclable paper that offers the same – if not better – protection for customers’ orders. With this change, we’re avoiding about 15 billion plastic air pillows every year. Thanks to all of our team members who helped make this big and important shift happen, and a special thanks to our social media intern, Madeline Scammell for this hilarious video 😂. So nice having Gen Z in the office. Learn more: https://amzn.to/4g31Rzs

What happens when our SVP of Devices & Services, Panos Panay, puts a Kindle Paperwhite through the ultimate stress tests? To celebrate the 20th anniversary of our innovation hub, called Lab126, Panos spent a day with our hardware reliability engineers testing the e-reader’s durability and reliability. Watch him run just a few of the dozens of mechanical, situational, and chemical tests we use to simulate real-world customer experiences. PS - who knows the meaning behind the name Lab126? 😏 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gsSksCzg

Meet Faud Ali, a Seattle-based driver for Amazon. On what seemed like another normal day on his delivery route, a house in Burien, Washington, caught fire, and Ali went the extra mile. He called 911 and gave the homeowner the emotional support she needed in the moment, after she arrived home from walking her dog and had witnessed what had happened while she was out. “I’m not a hero,” Ali said. “Everybody should just look out for each other.” We’re so grateful for people like you, Ali. Thank you.🧡 https://amzn.to/3M9bZbT
