𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 I teach in several master's programs from the Facultat d'Economia i Empresa - Universitat de Barcelona and Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya - ESMUC where students come from #humanities, #arts, or social sciences backgrounds, and few have a technical profile. However, I have seen how some of them have launched and grown their own projects successfully. For a non-technical founder, launching a startup can seem impossible. But with the right approach, it's entirely possible. 📌 Here is my proposed guide to help in this process: → 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺: Identify a problem you genuinely care about solving that is an actual pain point. → 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: Talk to 20+ people who have this problem. → 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲: Focus on one recurring issue you hear repeatedly. → 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝘀: Sketch out these ideas. Figma is a great tool to consider. → 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿: It is time to find a capable technical co-founder who brings expertise in software development or engineering. → 𝗜𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸: Return to those initial users with a prototype and iterate based on their feedback. → 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗲: Set up a landing page, start building in public, and grow your audience on social media. Framer is a great tool. → 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲: Use a company formation tool. There are many choices and you must find the right one: doola or Legalstart.fr. → 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆: Set up a free Carta account to manage your cap table and equity. Carta provides equity administration and financial infrastructure solutions. → 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀: Once you get real signals from the prototype, you must consider hiring a developer. Set up a Linear account (for planning and building products) and learn to track work. → 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗽𝘀: Set up basic feedback loops where users can leave feedback. → 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗜𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Every week, push out new iterations based on user feedback. → 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴: As you gain traction, set up investor meetings with VCs. Learn what milestones you need to hit to become a portfolio company for each of them. → 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Keep talking to customers and improving your product until you meet those milestones and raise funds. → 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲: Raise some money and start scaling at your pace. The key is to stay close to your users, iterating quickly to seize opportunities by offering solutions rapidly. Keep pushing boundaries and stay connected with your audience! #startup #innovation

10 Leadership Insights from Daniel Lamarre of CIRQUE DU SOLEIL 📌 I recently had the privilege of speaking with Daniel Lamarre, the EVP of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group’s Board of Directors. It was during our first day at the Summer School on Management of Creativity (HEC Montréal, Mosaic-HEC Montréal and Universitat de Barcelona Business School). This inspiring talk, conducted by Patrick Cohendet and Laurent SIMON, highlighted Lamarre's pivotal role over the past 25 years in shaping Cirque du Soleil’s strategies and cultivating an extraordinary organizational culture. 💡 Here are the 10 key insights he shared: 1️⃣ Have a mission, vision, and strong values. Ensure employees understand and embody them. Managers must translate these into actionable steps and maintain strong communication. 2️⃣ Communicate, communicate, communicate. Transparent communication fosters a collaborative environment where employees feel valued and contribute ideas. 3️⃣ Understand your purpose. The happiest people know their purpose. Lamarre has a personal clown, @Mme Zazou, who reminds him of his purpose. Organizations should seek their equivalent to stay aligned with their mission. 4️⃣ Solicit ideas and implement the best ones. Create an environment where employees can share ideas. Managers should listen, value contributions, and implement the best ideas. 5️⃣ Decentralize and empower teams. Grant autonomy to employees, allowing them to take ownership of their work while aligning with broader goals. 6️⃣ Value individual talents without losing sight of common goals. Recognize and leverage each team member's strengths while focusing on broader objectives. 7️⃣ Recognize work well done and celebrate wins. Acknowledging contributions and celebrating victories motivate employees and foster new ideas. 8️⃣ Showcase what you do. Find innovative ways to display your company’s creativity and attract potential customers or partners. 9️⃣ Trust and respect your partners’ expertise. Collaboration with experts can lead to breakthroughs. Inviting George Martin for the LOVE project resulted in an award-winning soundscape. 🔟 Mobilize people around your project. Engage key stakeholders deeply in the creation process. Their involvement can provide critical insights and improvements. Lamarre’s insights underscore the transformative power of communication, recognition, collaboration, and showcasing creativity in building a thriving organizational culture. These principles transcend Cirque du Soleil, offering a blueprint for any organization striving for excellence. Embrace these strategies to inspire your team, foster innovation, and achieve remarkable success in your professional journey. And remember, always keep your inner 🤡 clown close at hand (insight n. 3). #leadership #Innovation #creativity #organizationalculture #purpose

🥇Singapore 🇸🇬 students top the newly published PISA study by OECD - OCDE on creative thinking, outperforming peers from 🥈Korea 🇰🇷 and 🥉Canada 🇨🇦. However, despite their outstanding performance, many students from these countries do not perceive themselves as creative. Spain 🇪🇸 ranks in the middle globally, while Finland 🇫🇮 leads the European ranking. The PISA 2022 assessed international students on their ability to generate, evaluate, and improve creative ideas. They faced tasks measuring their capacity to produce diverse and innovative concepts. 📌 Two notable findings emerged: 🔹 Students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds outperformed the average OECD student, scoring 36 points on average. Those in the top 25% of households averaged 45 points. 🔹 Girls scored higher on average than boys, in most participating countries. 💡 These results remind me of the 1968 research by George Land and Beth Jarman, who tested 1,600 children aged three to five in a Head Start program using the same creativity assessment designed for NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration. They re-tested the same children at 10 years of age, and again at 15 years of age. The results were astounding: 🔸 5-year-olds: 98% creative 🔸 10-year-olds: 30% creative 🔸 15-year-olds: 12% creative 🔸 Adults (280,000 tested): 2% creative Land concluded, “Non-creative behavior is learned.” Given these Land and Jarman insights, is PISA truly measuring our students' creative thinking? 🤔 Ministry of Education, Singapore (MOE), Ministry of Education, Korea, Ministerio de Educación, España, Departament d'Educació, Opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriö/Undervisnings- och kulturministeriet/Ministry of Education & Culture #creativity, #innovation, #education, #creativethinking, #growth, #singapore, #korea, #canada, #finland, #spain
