Today our EHS Director, Mandy Venning, provided the BCG Team with a “Heat Related Illness” lunch & learn! 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀: ---> Understanding heat-related illnesses in construction is crucial for ensuring the safety and well-being of workers. Construction sites often involve strenuous physical activities, heavy machinery, and exposure to the elements, making heat a significant hazard. Heat-related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke, can occur when the body is unable to cool itself adequately, leading to serious health risks or even fatalities. Recognizing the symptoms and implementing preventive measures is essential to protect workers from these dangers. ---> Symptoms can range from mild, such as excessive sweating and muscle cramps, to severe, including confusion, fainting, and high body temperatures. Early identification and intervention can prevent conditions from worsening and ensure that affected individuals receive the necessary medical attention. Additionally, educating workers about these symptoms empowers them to monitor their own health and that of their colleagues, creating a safer work environment. ---> By fostering a culture of safety and vigilance, construction sites can reduce the incidence of heat-related illnesses and protect their most valuable asset – their workforce. #heatrelatedillness #safetytips #construction

#ThrowbackThursday - 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗼𝗻-𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗮𝗿 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 / 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗼𝗻, 𝗠𝗦 Our first project in Jackson, MS; the build-out of four concessions within the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport - Capital City Tavern & Cup O’Joe in the East Wing and Farish Street Market & Mississippi Blues Tap Room in the West Wing. The renovations took place in the operating retail spaces within the airport. Much of the work took place off shift, while maintaining FAA and strict security regulations. McDowell Field at Tim Shaw Stadium included an all-new synthetic turf field, new scoreboard and play clocks, a new entrance archway, a new concession stand, and new locker rooms. The site also provides for a new expansion to the drop-off area near the middle school, along with resurfacing of the entire parking lot.
