Vouchers can help support economic recovery following a crisis by encouraging people to buy items from local businesses. However, they can also be restrictive and sometimes exploited. There are two types: 🔹 Commodity Vouchers – for specific goods/services 🔹 Value Vouchers – for set cash amounts at chosen vendors See the infographic below 👇 to explore the benefits and challenges of voucher assistance. In 2018, Mercy Corps published a comprehensive Delivery Guide (FSP Assessment Tool) designed to assist humanitarian workers in identifying appropriate delivery mechanisms for cash and voucher assistance, especially multipurpose cash (MPC). Organizations have historically faced difficulties in understanding and assessing the impact of regulations on cash programming. The Delivery Guide addresses these challenges through a two-step process: 1. Initial Landscaping and Scoping: This step helps users understand viable cash delivery options and potential obstacles. 2. Comparison and Selection of Financial Service Providers (FSPs): This step aids in choosing the most suitable FSP. Revisit this publication to explore its detailed guidance and practical tools for improving cash and voucher assistance in humanitarian responses. Read it now 👉 https://calp.net/3VLhp2H

Curious about the real impact of blockchain in humanitarian aid? This recent research article by Dr Margie Cheesman dives into how a blockchain pilot, implemented in Jordan, is portrayed and perceived. The project promised increased efficiency and transparency in delivering financial support to people living in refugee camps by allowing real-time transparency over data to a decentralised network of coordinated organisations. By taking an ethnographic approach it found that some stakeholders had benefited more than others and it had reinforced traditional power imbalances. She brings you these insights based on CALP’s new study ‘We Looked Back: Now Let’s Move Forward’. The paper reveals significant progress and innovation in CVA across 20 contexts and recommends how the humanitarian community can shape CVA related learning across the region over the next 5 years.
