We love #Give5 volunteers! Participating in this incredible program is a joy for our agency. This is the fourth class of United Way of Central Missouri's Give 5 graduates, several of whom from previous classes have served over 100+ hours alongside our staff! Recently retired? When families live paycheck-to-paycheck, they often find themselves one disaster away from the domino effect of poverty. Losing a car to a fallen tree could mean their job is on the line. Damage to the roof of their house after a storm could mean an extended hotel stay that drains their grocery dollars. In some cases, a housefire takes everything they had, leaving them without even the paperwork they need to file insurance claims. Our long-term disaster case management work accompanies disaster survivors with one-on-one care to help on the long road to recovery. "Because no one can heal if they don't have adequate nutrition." Through our partnership with SSM Health and St. Mary's Hospital – The Catholic Charities Food Pantry can provide Hope & Healing Food Bags to patients identified as food insecure. These bags contain two days' worth of nutrition – breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks included. In 2023 we dropped off 40 Hope & Healing bags and are set up to deliver more this Spring! This is how we're #ProvidingCare and #CreatingHope in Diocese of Jefferson City. Learn more about our impact: https://ow.ly/jJPE50QHZj3

“Poverty is the great waster of human potential.” – Matthew Desmond Navigating life paycheck to paycheck puts undue stress on the mental, emotional, and physical health of our neighbors. At Catholic Charities, we hope to encounter those in need, accompany them as they set their goals, and provide the accountability, the helpful hand, and the sound counsel they need to break free of the burden of debt, financial instability, or eviction. This is our work, and it’s how we #ProvideCare and #CreateHope in the Diocese of Jefferson City.
