The CGSC Foundation supports the Soldiers, families, staff, and faculty of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. The CGSC Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (C)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit educational foundation that provides resources and support to the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC) in the development of tomorrow’s military leaders. The CGSCF helps to advance the profession of military art and science by promoting the welfare and enhancing the prestigious educational programs of the CGSC. Our Vision The CGSC Foundation’s vision is to become a supporting organization that is widely recognized as the national leader in membership, programs, innovation, and support to the US Army Command and General Staff College to advance its core mission of educating leaders for the challenges of the 21st century. Our Mission CGSC Foundation support for the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College is in three general areas: Scholarship, Outreach, and Soldier & Family Support. Specifically, the mission of the CGSC Foundation is to: • Enrich the College’s academic environment • Foster a strong relationship between the military and the private sector • Enhance the institution’s research activities • Promote leader development • Encourage excellence in the faculty and student body • Maintain contact with alumni The Foundation supports the College’s many areas of focus by providing financial and research support for symposia, conferences, and lectures, as well as funding and organizing community outreach activities that help connect the American public to their Army. The CGSC Foundation is funded through private donations and its board of trustees is staffed with distinguished retired military leaders, business executives, community leaders and others who are focused on providing the margin of excellence to the educational programs of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

Leaders from across Iowa convened at the Des Moines Embassy Club West April 18, for a presentation on ethical leadership by retired Army Lt. Gen. Robert Caslen, Jr. The presentation was part of the Des Moines National Security Forum, a program facilitated by the CGSC Foundation, Inc. and sponsored by Brownells, Inc. The April Arter-Rowland National Security Forum luncheon series featured guest speaker Dr. James E. Platte, assistant professor at the U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, who presented “A History of North Korea and Strategic Challenges for the United States.” Dr. Platte’s research focuses on strategic deterrence, cybersecurity, energy security, and strategy in the Indo-Pacific. Join the Fort Leavenworth community next week on April 10th at 1 p.m. as we honor the life and legacy of Medal of Honor recipient Col. Roger Donlon (ret.). The Celebration of Life will take place at the Frontier Conference Center (FCC), with a procession starting at 10:30 a.m. from the Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life is open to anyone with access to Fort Leavenworth, but space is limited at the FCC and National Cemetery. Priority will be given to family and invited guests. Col. Donlon, Medal of Honor recipient, founding trustee of the CGSC Foundation, Inc. and former U.S. Army Command and General Staff College instructor, lost his 12-year battle with Agent Orange Parkinson’s disease and died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024. He was 89. “Roger Donlon is an institution here at Fort Leavenworth,” said Lora Morgan, president/CEO of the CGSC Foundation. “His life was a blessing to all of us.
