The USAID Investment Promotion Activity is committed to strengthening economic ties between #Pakistan and the United States! 👏 The recent Pakistan Investment Roadshows brought together dynamic Pakistani firms and leading U.S. investors to explore impactful foreign direct investment opportunities across sectors including #AI, #FinTech, #HealthTech, #EdTech, and more, with a specific focus on supporting woman-led and impact-driven firms. Following successful events in New York City and San Francisco, the roadshows continued in Washington, D.C., where USAID’s Assistant Administrator R. Michael Schiffer and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the U.S., Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, further reinforced the importance of U.S.-Pakistan economic collaboration. Panels included both trailblazing women entrepreneurs showcasing their ventures and representatives from the IFC - International Finance Corporation and Village Capital offering insights about what international investors seek in #EmergingMarkets such as Pakistan. The connections facilitated by these roadshows will be critical to raise the remaining funding required to support Pakistan’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem! #UnlockingPakistansInvestmentPotential

In #Colombia, despite a robust policy framework and ambitious Nationally Determined Contribution goals, the impact of #ClimateChange is undeniable. Extreme weather events are inflicting economic and environmental losses and undermining the social and economic fabric of communities. To help the country address these challenges, we’re glad to implement the new USAID Invest for Climate Activity (#IN4C)! Through this activity, we aim to establish Colombia as a global leader in #ClimateFinance seeking to transform the markets and financial systems to integrate valuation of natural systems, climate risk management, and emissions reduction goals in investments. We’re honored to celebrate the successful completion of a truly impactful project in #BurkinaFaso! Our teams on the USAID - Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI)-funded Burkina Faso Regional Program and On Est Ensemble activity have worked tirelessly alongside local organizations and communities, tackling challenges like farmer-herder conflicts and fostering #resilience through innovative, community-led solutions. Thank you to our amazing staff like Garron Hansen and Amadou Tall that pursue sustainable solutions around the world to make sure that #DevelopmentWorksHere! 🌍
Closing down any project is bittersweet. But for those working on some of the most complex challenges – like building resilience in the Sahel – it is both a real pleasure to take stock of years of hard work, accomplishments and lessons learned, yet also sobering when so much more work needs to be done. First and foremost, Chemonics International has been privileged to work with hundreds of local organizations across Burkina Faso, putting them in the driver’s seat of solving community challenges like farmer-herder conflicts and building more income generating activities. This wide reach was made possible through a steadfast commitment to Burkina by USAID on the OTI funded Burkina Faso Regional Program, and followed up by USAID’s On Est Ensemble activity, partnering with us as changing circumstances required quick pivots to new geographies within the country, and rapidly mobilizing new partners and counterparts. Finally, our Chemonics staff in Ouagadougou– led by Amadou Tall – ably combined implementing people to people strategic approaches with Chemonics expertise in grants and capacity building to influence individuals, communities and institutions. It was inspiring to hear from so many Burkinabe stakeholders at our closeout workshop last week about the changes in their communities and relationships that are preventing conflicts and building resilience. And instructive to hear more about the work across so many sectors – climate change, investment, health, agriculture, water, stability – that needs to be integrated into future programming. With a big thank you, merci, godiya to our team, the closing words of the workshop said it best: On Est Ensemble…on reste ensemble! Sri Lanka provides a fascinating case study into how capital partners can be brought to the table to support locally driven development and sustainability goals, particularly in the #energy sector. The developing nation has an ambitious UNFCCC target of generating 70% of its power with #renewables by 2030, and, despite historically having a nationalized energy industry, passed legislation in July 2024 to allow new #PrivateSector capital to enter the market. With capital for green infrastructure #investment crucial to accelerating the energy transition to meet global net-zero goals, contributions are needed from both the public and private sector to deploy #sustainable solutions at scale. Join our Chanaka Wickramasuriya, chief of party for the Sri Lanka Energy Program, for a timely discussion of “Financing the Future: Unlocking Capital for the Energy Transition in Low- and Middle-Income Countries” at Foreign Policy's Energy Forum at #UNGA79 on September 26.
