Intern introduction! Meet Ryan Gee - Ryan is an intern in our Public Works Department this summer. He is currently a student at San Diego State University, majoring in Civil Engineering and minoring in Philosophy. He was interested in interning for the City because it seemed like a great opportunity to learn more about civil infrastructure in the public sector and see the impacts of projects on his home community. This summer, Ryan hopes to gain more experience and learn more about the industry, along with discovering more about which branch of Civil Engineering he would like to potentially focus on. #PublicWorks #internship #workwithus

🛟Happy Lifeguard Appreciation Day! The City of Mountain View Aquatics Team is comprised of more than 80 lifeguards, each bringing a unique background and skillset to our poolside operations. Our diverse team has a wide range of experience and interests, from football players to opera singers, as well as students studying environmental engineering to pre-law and pre-med. Throughout the year, they offer swim lessons for all ages, water exercise, lap swim, and recreation swim. In addition to the aquatics-based programs, they offer essential American Red Cross courses such as Lifeguard Training, First Aid/CPR/AED Training and Babysitter Training. The dedication and hard work of our lifeguards ensure that the community can enjoy safe and enjoyable aquatic experiences all year round. He graduated from the University of California, San Diego in December 2023 where he majored in Computer Science and minored in Environmental Systems. Dhaval was interested in interning for the City of Mountain View because he wanted to be able to see his work causing tangible differences and helping those in a local community. She is currently working towards getting her Master’s in Environmental Engineering and GIS Certificate from the University of San Francisco. She was drawn to the City of Mountain View's internship to learn more about the GIS world outside of academia.
