Amid the noise of current events, let’s focus on a vital question: how do the most successful CEOs manage their sleep and exercise, and why should you care? 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙀𝙊 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚: 𝙎𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙥: According to a study by the National Sleep Foundation, the average CEO gets about 6.5 hours of sleep per night, but this is often not enough for optimal performance. Research indicates that: 7-8 hours of sleep show a 20% increase in cognitive performance 6 hours of sleep can lead to a 30% decrease in cognitive performance 5 hours of sleep can result in a drop of up to 50% in cognitive performance Deep sleep cycles are crucial for enhancing memory consolidation and problem-solving skills. However, merely 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 7 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 as getting quality sleep. 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟯 𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗘𝗢𝘀: 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙣𝙭𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮: High-stakes decision-making and unpredictable markets can create a mental environment where it's hard to switch off at night. 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙡𝙤𝙖𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙊𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩: Long hours and the constant demand to be available can lead to a work-life imbalance. 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚: Late-night emails and blue light exposure from screens can interfere with the body's natural sleep-wake cycle. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 1. 𝙃𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙭𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: A relaxed and happy mind significantly improves sleep quality, which is key for high performance. 2. 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: The stress of your role won't disappear on its own. Short 5-10 min. sessions can dramatically reduce stress. Consistency is key. 3. 𝙋𝙝𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮: Physical neglect is a silent saboteur. Strength training, even if you travel often, must be in your routine. 4. 𝙎𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙃𝙮𝙜𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙚: A consistent sleep schedule without late-day naps to improve nighttime sleep quality. 5. 𝘿𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙤𝙣 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮: Make informed choices on apps like Oura Ring, Calm, or others. Or consider avoiding technology and develop a natural sleep rhythm. 6. 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝: Put timing for sleep, exercise, and relaxation on your calendar.
