Great read in The 74 Media on the recovery trajectory of our nation’s youngest elementary school students, who are struggling to catch up to pre-pandemic levels in reading and mathematics. Kristen Huff, our vice president of assessment and research, discusses how the pandemic impacted children who were three or four years old and not yet in formal schooling at the onset of the pandemic.
It was a pleasure to connect with Lauren Camera to discuss Curriculum Associates’ recent research on the nation’s youngest learners. While older students are experiencing accelerated growth in some instances, the toll of disrupted learning during the pandemic on young learners is striking. It is my hope that these data will inform targeted policies to support students most in need as school districts are determining where and how to invest resources. "Now, when you look at post-pandemic [data] and compare it to historical levels, we’ve got a lot of room to grow, but we are seeing some hopeful outliers emerging," shares Dr. Kristen Huff in her recent discussion on the State of Student Learning with Nicole D’Antonio of WSB-TV. Last week, employees came together during RangeDays for various activities, from enjoying delicious breakfast and food trucks to participating in yoga, bingo, and a live podcast listening party. We also made a meaningful impact with our PAWSitive Pantry service project, collecting donations of food and litter to support pets in need. It was a fantastic week of connection, fun, and giving back. Thanks to everyone who helped make it special!
