Kindle integration! We shipped a new feature that gives owners of NFTs with token-bound PDFs and EPUBs the ability to seamlessly send those files to their Kindle devices or app for easy reading. Our protocol and app already enabled authors to encrypt and attach their books to their NFTs, which they could then sell, but until now the ability for buyers to actually read those token-bound books was hampered by terrible UX—no one wants to read a novel on their desktop! Our goal with this feature is to bridge the gap between authors' desire to make the sale of token-bound ebooks a viable business model and their real-world aspirations to not only sell books—but have people read them. You might think it's a bit ironic we're integrating with a web2 platform that we ultimately want to disintermediate, but the truth is most readers still use Kindle to read ebooks. So until web3-native ebook readers are prevalent, we feel it's necessary to help authors meet readers where they are so they can use web3 tech but still reach audiences beyond the crypto-native community.
