Binge eating disorder is the most common eating disorder in the U.S. And at the same time, the weight loss industry is booming — causing many to seek weight loss alongside BED treatment (which, spoiler alert, only exacerbates the eating disorder). So how are providers to effectively address the rising rates of BED in the age of GLP-1's? This month’s Equip Academy event dives into everything you should know about identifying and supporting patients with BED, and the importance of adopting a weight-neutral approach when doing so. Here are the details: The Complexity of Binge Eating Disorder: Treatment, Symptoms, and What a Weight-Neutral Approach Looks Like  👩🏫 Presented by Angela Celio Doyle, PhD, FAED, and VP of Behavioral Health Care at Equip 📅 Wednesday, June 26th at 9:30-10:30am PT Attendance is open to everyone, and free CE/CME credits are available for those eligible. We’re thrilled to share Equip’s second annual report! 🎉 Since our first report, Equip has evolved in many ways. Among our milestones, we’ve opened our virtual doors to patients of all ages (treating people as young as 4 and as old as 70). We also expanded coverage with Medicaid and other insurance providers to reach a total of over 110 million covered lives. The landscape has evolved as well, with telehealth utilization for eating disorder treatment increasing 10,000% in the past four years amid the surging youth mental health crisis, ever-evolving risks of social media, and prolific spread of weight loss drugs. Now, our mission to get effective treatment to every person who needs it is more important than ever. Our annual report is a commitment to transparency in clinical, demographic, and coverage data. We use scientifically-validated measures and patient feedback to assess patient care and improve treatment, resulting in the findings we share today. This year's outcomes show that our treatment isn’t just accessible — it’s also highly effective. In order to give a full picture of where we are and where we're going, the report expands beyond outcomes, including exclusive patient stories, research insights, program updates (more support groups, body image programs), and a look at what's ahead for us. Swipe through to get a peek into our key statistics for the past year, and click on the link to unlock our full annual report. https://lnkd.in/gFztxzEd

Equip's recent survey on eating disorders in the AAPI community was just featured in Teen Vogue! The article covers some of the most salient takeaways from the survey, and thoughts from Equip’s own Director of Program Development, Tana Luo. Here are a few key findings from our survey of 1,100 people from the AAPI community: 1️⃣ More than 60% of the survey respondents don’t see a mental health care provider. 2️⃣ Yet at the same time, 1 in 5 survey respondents reported an eating disorder.  3️⃣ Out of folks who don’t report an eating disorder, more than 50% still report eating disorder behaviors. 4️⃣ 59% of respondents felt it’s very important to have an AAPI mental health care provider. Yet, only 4% of the psychology workforce identifies as AAPI. Read the full article to better understand the nuanced cultural factors behind these statistics: https://lnkd.in/gt6ghHna.
